Season 2 is much better. Season 1 is only six episodes.

Can you skip it without missing too much?

Because I also started watching it, and it was dire.

We also watched the first 2 and gave up. I feel like I've seen all the best bits in Imgur memes, though.

You miss the reason why and how Leslie and Anne become friends but not a lot more.

It's two hours of your life. I'm sure you've wasted more time on worse things. Like the Expendables or Deadpool.

If you don't like Parks and Rec there's probably something very deeply wrong with you.

I gave up 15 minutes into the first episode.

In other news, flashback dead Punisher wife looks disconcertingly like Tracy Emin around the edges.

The Punisher is great. Best Marvel/Netflix stuff since Daredevil. Does that same thing that all these shows do where it slows down and puts to my attention on under-developed sideplots, but you get to see a lot of Punishment. The dynamic between The Punisher and his partner is really well developed. It get quite brutal, but that's what I wanted to see.

He's not in a costume for most of the show, if that bothers you, but I think that worked great.

Edit: Make sure you've seen both seasons of Daredevil before you watch The Punisher, but none of the other stuff connects to it.

I think it's just cruel to suggest that someone who hasn't seen it should sit through two seasons of Daredevil first.

Oh jesus, indeed. God he was a terrible character. The Protectors or whatever it was would have been a gazillionty times better without him in it.

Uh, Jessica Jones was after Daredevil, so you appear to be saying DD was better than JJ, which is incredibly wrongheaded.

Well I think Daredevil season 1 is still the best Netflix show. And The Punisher is prominently featured in season 2.

Spoiler for what I heard about Daredevil season 3
ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
Kingpin is back as primary antagonist.

Edit: JJ is good too for the most part, but DD is better.

I didn’t finish DD2.

2/3 of the way through S1 and it's terribly written, poorly acted and the only good bit is the press secretary guy. Yet, I cannot stop watching it.

I'd generally agree with this. I did finish DD2 but didn't massively enjoy it--especially The Punisher parts--so I'll be giving The Punisher series a miss. I'm looking forward to The Defenders though which is nudging ever closer to getting watched given that I binged The Orville the other day.

And why do they use street view to recon a location but are surprised when they pop elsewhere and it isn't there? Why didn't they use satellite view?

What! The Punisher bits were the redeeming feature of S2. The Elektra stuff made me nearly fall asleep.

Don't Trust the Birch duo hotter than 2 Broke Girls duo.

Discuss.

Also, the former way better than the latter.

Clowee positive role model.

There was a point the script writers said "that's ace", who passed it on to the editors "who said "nailed it!" And everyone thought it was a good day's work.

I'm aware that I can't really justify that comment but something about the set-up just didn't work for me. Partly because I don't think your man who played him is good enough to be a lead actor, but also because all the philosophising was bollocks: Frank Castle's a murderer and DD isn't. The Punisher as a character is very difficult to make sympathetic and i just don't think think they managed it which made all the agonising nonsense.

I was going to start watching THE PUNISHER on Netflix last night but the first thing Netflix showed me was a newly added documentary called SAVING CAPITALISM and I tend to like Netflix documentaries so I watched that instead.

It was a good documentary but I fundamentally disagreed with the premise that Robert Reich was starting from, this article sums it up very nicely.

https://www.salon.com/2017/11/18/robert ... -admit-it/

I would still recommend watching this though, it's an interesting piece.

Several people have said positive things about The Orville now. Hmmm. It got absolutely savaged by the critics and by the first few people I knew who saw it.

Almost tempted now. Though I will want to punch the lead guy in the face for the entire duration of the show, so maybe I shouldn’t.

Ah, Scrubs was great! We were talking about it last night, actually. Has my favourite ever joke in it, which is kind of hard to write, but:

‘Mr Rogers, it’s pronounced ænalgesic... you put them in your mouth’.

Seasons 1-6 were top notch comedy.

Several people have said positive things about The Orville now. Hmmm. It got absolutely savaged by the critics and by the first few people I knew who saw it.

Almost tempted now. Though I will want to punch the lead guy in the face for the entire duration of the show, so maybe I shouldn’t.

It's not brilliant or anything; the actual plots are generally very derivative of Star Trek and other sci-fi shows (one of the episodes rips off the Black Mirror episode Nosedive for instance) but there's something about the characters I like. For all the abuse A Million Ways to Die in the West got I found the central relationship very convincing and they pull off a similar trick here, while still essentially just being Star Trek with dick jokes.

Yep, it's totally Star Trek TNG with dick jokes. If you removed the more out of place humour, you could transplant the crew of the 1701D into pretty much every episode and it would be a perfect fit.

The courtroom scene where they were deciding the fate of Bortus' daughter could have easily had Riker arguing the case.
