Bear Island Lady is also awesome.

I was looking forward to next week which will surely see Theon's Sister being all surly and kicking some ass. I likes her.

I don't watch either programme, but I assume as a season finale, the Bear Island ladies face off against the Love Island ladies.

Yeah, that to some extent. It was a crap scene, seemingly shoehorned in because Ed Sheeran. I didn't mind him being there, but I minded that it was just generally a crap bit of the episode. Arya turned from murder revenge child into giggly girl talking to boys, and it was jarring.

I agree. Aargh only had to tell a person what she was up to, so it could have been Ramsey's other girl that Sansa murderised. She was hot.

Well it also introduced the lad from This Is England, presumably he'll be in it again. But the Ed Sheeran thing was shite.

I didn't like it either but wasn't the purpose of the scene twofold:

1) It shows the motivation for what Arya is up to now.
2) It describes Kings Landing as being a bit of a shit storm after Cersai blew up the sept and the Lannister army morale is at rock bottom.

I didn't like Ed Fucking Sheeren because: he isn't an actor and his mere face in GoT was weird; he was playing a singer so it was a nod to real life which is by itself immersion breaking; he had taken a page out of the David Beckham book of acting; that line "it's a new song" delivered to camera was really strange like he was going to release it as his next single and lastly the strangeness of him being on screen was amplified by everyone else giving a stilted performance during the scene.

Oh, I don't agree with that. It made the point that things aren't as black and white as Arya thinks; there are people she's defined as her enemies who are just normal people trying to survive when their lords decide they are fighting. Probably, some of the Frey's she'd just murdered were people who would have been kind to her if they'd met as strangers. It was a scene that highlighted the corruption of her moral character as it is consumed by vengence, and her awareness of that, judging by the thoughtful look on her face as she accepted the soldiers' hospitality. It also makes the audience question their support of her.

"Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves."

I do agree Sheeran's casting was jarring though. But I'd keep the scene and just lose him.

She was going to kill them, wasn't she? It seemed pretty implied given how she kept putting her hand on Needle and looking at their swords slung in a corner of their camp.

Also, book nerds will tell you that the song is (Hands of Gold) has been in the books for some time, and its meaning is pretty important.

I agree that seeing someone you recognise may drag you out of the scene somewhat, but no-one complained when Lovejoy showed up and exactly the same thing happened. If his line to camera was rubbish, you should be annoyed at the director that let it through.

Perhaps the main issue I have with that scene is that she appeared to be riding a stealth horse, and was basically standing on one of their hands before anyone noticed her, even though she'd just clip-clopped over a wooden bridge.

Lovejoy is an actor. He appears in many things doing acting and doing it well.

I didn't complain when the fat bloke from The Full Monty turned up in season one either. Or that fella from Ronin that goes on about "RASBREH JAM"

And I'm not mad at Ed Sheeran because fuck it I would love to do it and would if given the opportunity - I am annoyed at the sheer length of it and him being in shot almost constantly. It was very distracting.

If you're at a free Ed Sheeran concert you're not going to be noticing anything on the periphery really. Their deaths are on him.

She was considering it, was my interpretation, but that just underscores my point. She has very personal beef with the Lannisters. But even though these are Lannister men, they seem to have done nothing to harm her or her family, and in fact have shown her only kindness. The show consciously decided to humanise them, and to make sure we know Anya knows they are real people with families and lives. So the question for what's to become of Arya is: do we cold open next week to a scene of her murdering those men as they sleep, and if so, was that the right thing for her to do? Classic 'Thrones.

I think it's building to Arya and the Hound meeting up again. By which point, the Hound will be mostly a moral person, and Arya maybe mostly an amoral person. Or to put it another way, I think we are invited to understand more about each of these characters by contrasting with the other.

The hound is on her list of course.

I don't see any evidence of her planning to kill them. Anyone in westeros riding into an army camp would be checking where their hosts had their weapons and making sure the hilt of their sword was to hand.

I wonder which bits are going to be the tedious, rubbish bits this time around. It's mandatory that there is at least one setting where your heart sinks a bit when the scene changes to it.

Everything with Sansa in it.

I don't keep up with mainstream pop music, so I didn't notice the ginger was a famous person, thus I liked the scene since he's got obviously a good voice and the song was pleasant.

Besides that, solid episode.

And the scene between Euron and Cersei was the best. And I agree with him when it comes to taste in women.

Yes, it was splendid. It was a 50/50 mix of her mother and Cersei, which fits the character perfectly. I also enjoyed her scene with Jon. I think perhaps in hindsight she can act fine but has been hobbled by dull writing for most of the show up until recently.

I think that it's more to do with her character in the show. She was an ingenue that wanted to marry Joffrey as that was the role she may have been raised for. She was very young and made many poor decisions and ended up with powerful men who were not pleasant. Much as I agree that her character was irritating, I'm not sure how else she could have played it. If you're that young and that massively suppressed then you are going to become inert. She was in abusive relationships. I don't think it was poorly written either. The fact that there are so many very strong female characters in the show tends to throw her character into stark contrast. Pun intended.
I suspect she's going to come into her own this series.
However, I'm not going to make any remarks on her voice, which I find quite nasal, but then she's having to do a Northern accent because of Sean Bean.

I watched this!

My thoughts were that I do t know who the singer everyone is moaning about is. He was dull but not awful.

The Lady Whatsherface (young girl who gave her army of 13 people or whatever it was) to Jon Snow can barely speak in sentences, let alone act.

The bit with Sam(?) at the library/monastery type place and the scene with his horrible day to day tasks was directed awfully. It was like a bad advert for wooden buckets. It really didn't fit with the way the rest of the show has been directed and just when you thought the tediousness couldn't possibly go on any longer they looped it round for another 6 minutes or so.

The fact that it seemed like somethjnvbout of something else was my exact problem with it, as it interrupts any immersion.

This is some good shit.

Question: if we count Theon, has there always been been a Stark in Winterfell?

Question: if we count Theon, has there always been been a Stark in Winterfell?
