I suppose this is the final stretch, right? Squeeee. So here's a promo trailer with some god awful music attached to it. What were they thinking. Still the breath was good though.

Just popped in having finally seen the last episode.
I will ask him, however, when I spotted him in the neighbourhood last week he was still sporting the Jon Snow's beard and hair and in light of the fact that I think filming for season 6 starts next month I don't think he's dead. He's in Saltaire at present. I might have walked past him in the pub on Friday night. Slightly shorter than me, medium build, black hair, tightly curled. It has caused GREAT EXCITEMENT

For some reason I thought this was out in April, and it's actually not until July?! Oh man!

ENGAGE MYP MODE

I dislike the way Liv Tyler is described as "Steve Tyler's daughter" and not by listing her own accomplishments. She's arguably more recognisable than her dad anyway.

I'm probably inclined to agree, she's the teenage stripping elf queen who fired her boyfriend into space to get with Kevin Bacon. He's a singer in some old band Cavey likes.

New trailer:

I'm sure I'm missing loads of details like I always do but one thing I noticed was a couple of shots of Tyrion wearing his Hand of the King brooch; is that significant? I mean the obvious possibility is that it's just some footage taken from a previous season but why bother doing that when this is supposed to be trailing the new season? I wonder whether the implication is that Danaerys takes the Iron Throne and he spends some time as Hand of the Queen before the White Walker shit hits the fan? Seems weird to give that kind of thing away though I suppose.

erm, didn't dragon tits give him the Hand of the King/Queen in the last season (or is he wearing a different one. I'm avoiding spoilers so I'm not watching this)?

I can confirm she did. It's one of the last episodes where they're about to cross the sea and she gives it to him. And the brooch. Fnaar, fnaar.

Sorry, I was referencing an old joke where we decided it would be funny to confuse Steven Tyler with Mick Jagger. For some reason.

I watched it. It was brill although I've found that I'm much less interested in CGI dragons and that side of the story than I am the Starks and what's happened/ing there. As such the end sequence fell very flat for me.

I thought Satsuma was talking about the end of the last season?

Completely agree, though I like almost everyone surrounding Dany, so next week with more on her side might be fun. Ironborn Lady is ace.

I enjoyed Aussie Jack Sparrow too.

Overall lots of fun. Great cold open and loved the bits with The Hound.

Ed Sheeran though, FFS.

I did laugh at Sam's discovery re: dragon glass.

*GASP*

Dragon Glass is from Dragon Stone, the ancestral home of the fucking dragon people who used it as a weapon!

FFS, lads! Did nobody think to look there first off?

That was perfect for me and my ageing brain - a catch up at the beginning and then a first episode that eased me gently in to what's coming so I could process it all.

Sansa has come a long way;

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
"No need to seize the last word Lord Baelish, I'll assume it was something clever"

It was a great line but she delivered it like a cross between her mother and Cersei. I almost punched the air.

That episode was an excellent counterpoint to the nerds whining about a female Doctor. Just about all of the women in this are capable, intelligent and most definitely not to be fucked with, especially Lyanna Mormont, who is not letting up on being awesome.

We watched the last episode of the last Season just before this new one.

It was only the fact that Thomas Turgoose was in the same scene that stoped me from writing to my MP.

I didn't mind Sheeran at all. I just went "Huh, Ed Sheeran" and then got on with my life, because it changed basically nothing. Obviously, the Internet is all upset about it, because... I dunno, really. He's a singer, maybe?

But no-one cared when that dude from Snow Patrol was in it.
