London City Airport now hasis going to have a Digital control tower that is based over 80 miles away. Have they learned nothing from the educational film that was Die Hard 2?

I guess the BBC don't throw stuff away. That box was from THE, my old employer, who went tits-up ten years ago.

Aiiiiiiii

Singapore is just as mental as I remember it being. And hot. So very, very hot. BUT, loads of model shops, so some Gunpla models will be coming back with me. The MRT is just amazeballs - so cheap, not too busy, and airconditioned. And my Singapore oystercard thing has a picture of a cute Batman on it.

We've had a very emotional week so far, not helped by either of us not sleeping more than 2 hours each of the first two nights (stupid jet lag). We've seen all the schools we need to see, and put in the school application for our first choice today... Tomorrow we're going to have a look around some houses and condos to get an idea of what's available in our price range in the areas we're looking at. I'm told there are loads of dogs in Singapore, but I've seen like 6 or something, most of which were in the Botanical Gardens (where I saw a massive fuck off lizard swimming in the lake - mini Gojira!) I am wondering whether Nelly will cope with life here (and if we'd cope with having her here) but we've got a few months to make our minds up.

Aiiiiii.

Yes! Lovely, it is, too.

We were doing the Gruffalo trail, and had found the mouse, then, Quaver thought she saw the Gruffalo in the trees, screamed and sobbed uncontrollably and lost power of speech. Minim ate a banana.

Man, this thread moves fast.

Mr Chris should have his own Singapore thread.

Chris: what do the kids think about the move to Singapore?

So he's in Singapore now then? May as well have the meet up in his house this weekend as we'll have the bank holiday Monday too.

Somebody mentioned in a comment about knitted jumpers the trails of planes in the sky. Another commenter then mentioned something about the 'drippy' texture not being g normal and that it was a 'chemtrail' rather than vapour. A third person said something about conspiracy theorists so not understanding what the heck people were talking g about I fell down the Google rabbit hole. Man, there are some nutty people about.

Russ, they are at home with their grandparents at the moment, but in general they're being very positive about the whole thing. Think they will love it here... The school in particular will be great , within a few weeks of arriving they'll be on a school trip to a rainforest :)

This may be a long shot, but does anyone have a wii fit board in decent condition they are looking to sell? There are a few available on eBay, but many listed as untested, or looking a bit shonky, and not saying if they are official or third party. Also, risky business of strangers sweaty feet, and I'd much rather the sweaty feet of nerds I know and love, so thought I'd ask here first.

Now you ask, I am thinking about it. Having a general clear out, and that is one more thing I have and maybe don't need to add to things I store when I go away. Let me ponder it overnight - if anyone else gets there in the meantime, I won't be stroppy.

I should add that it is, of course, working - I have used it recently, if a bit sporadically.

Thank you, I'd really, really appreciate it, and that way JBR can keep his as even if he only used it occasionally he knows he has it.

I usually try to walk about 4.5 miles a day, but on days like yesterday, when Darwin was sick, I can't get out and I feel awful for it, plus it would be good to have some variety and something I can do in the evenings.

Let me also show you this pic. Where Darwin kept on being sick yesterday I spent a lot of unhappy time cleaning, but look at him desperate to help out. Melty :luv:, right?

I forgot what it was like to wear outer clothes when I was out there. If you wear a jacket with your shirt then you're a lunatic. No matter what the occasion requires.

White shirt, translucently stuck to your back with sweat, stuffed into the waist of some linen trousers. That will be your uniform.

Merino is hipster, now? I googled that and got lots of results for underwear. Wool underwear? Hmm... Lots of claims about it being wicking and insulating (both true) but also antimicrobial (hmmm...) and in a 50/50 polyester blend. Blending it with plastic will definitely not help with microbes and bacteria, as it will trap sweat, and you'd be better off with cotton underwear than something that's half wool, half plastic.

Merino is gorgeous to handle, but most merino sheep are mulesed which I thought would be very un-hipster-y.

It's amazing how many different things people have linked to it. Brain controlling chemicals that force you to vote a particular way... something that makes you addicted to wotsits, airborne MMR vaccines... 8)

Merino is hipster, now?

I've been reading travel blogs where people have been singing the praises of 100% merino t-shirts for extended trips in both hot and cold countries. Downside, they cost over fifty quid. I've never had much luck with base layers in summer as both cotton tees and the technical shirt I tend wear hiking annoy me in different ways. I think I have a three season wardrobe.

After reading these blogs, I then went and bought a canvas 'messenger' manbag to try to resolve my 'lack of pockets for wallet, phone, and keys' problem I get every summer.
