Demo up on PSN! Very promising.

Played through it last night and it's much more sinister than the slightly camp horror of previous games.

Fingers crossed they keep it creepy for the main game.

I don't mind a mix of jump scares and action but if it's all just jump scares then it can GTFF.

Well this is just a demo thing (in a similar vein to the Silent Hill one) so not fully representative of the finished game.

The demo gave me actual honest-to-God goose bumps. Nice! Seems like the kind of game that can only lose from being shoehorned into the Resident Evil franchise.

Very PT-esque, but enjoyable all the same, if really short.

Apparently there are several endings, and I never did find a purpose for that dummy finger.

To start towards the second ending:

Start the game. Immediately go to the fireplace and pull the handle. Go through the door, you'll find the missing fuse for the fusebox...

Some other bits - you can unlock that locked drawer:
ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
During the video, look to the left of the fridge for a lockpick.

And (alternate ending spoilers)
ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
You can get back downstairs after answering the phone if you keep your back to a wall.

When we played my buddy saw the ghost on the stairs but I missed it. I though he must of imagined it but he insisted he did and a YouTube search after we finished playing revealed him to be correct. Irritatingly, it didn't occur to me to use the "share" button and take a look at the video.

Some nice fella or gal has put the 10 uber short teaser trailers together in one video.

Here 'tis.

Frankly, I'm excited about all of this. It's so different but so familiar it's surely going to be good, right?

Got out!

I got the "infected" ending, then got the "true" ending. Went online to see if we'd missed anything and found out there are murders to solve.

After 90 minutes we found one and it was so insanely hard we watched a video of the rest.

I'll do them at some point so I can get the (presumably) "tru dat double tru" ending.

Morrisons didn't have it earlier and I'm sure games don't come out in the uk until Thursday. Anyone?

Anyway, Resident Evil 7 looks awesome! Proper scary.

It's usually Friday because the chart sales tracking runs Friday to Friday, so releasing then means you get all the initial sales in a single week for tracking purposes. For the same reasons, in the US it's Tuesday.

Really big titles that are confident of selling well are sometimes Tuesday here too, to reduce "my friends in America already have it" syndrome.

My boss picked up his copy today (from Game I think). He's tried a few of the PS4 VR games and while he's been impressed with the VR technology itself, he's been waiting for something that felt more than a tech demo. I spoke to him this afternoon and he seems very impressed with it so far.

I've played a couple of hours of this today.

It. Is. Brilliant.

I know we knew it wasn't going to be another Resi 4-6 from the demo, but it's still seriously impressive how much this isn't another Resi game but is still a Resi game.

So far I fucking love it. Don't watch anything, don't read anything, no trailers, no nothing, go in completely blind.

That being said here's a minor and vague spoiler for those who can't resist ruining their games.

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!

In VR this is just next level brilliantness.

All the bollocks about Mario 64 levels of 'paradigm shift' is true.
