Aren't iPhone headphones a bit weird, like they have an extra contact in the pin or something? Dunno.

Each of the contacts is for an ear and the mic. So if you have a set with a mic they should always have three - I don't think it's Apple-specific.

Isn't Windjammers a direct port? I didn't think it was a remake/update but I could be wrong.

Its a direct port / re-write but includes online play

And yes Eugene Jarvis (basicall the creator of the twin stick shooter with Robotron) is working with Housemarque (creators of Resogun / Super Stardust / etc) to create a twin stick shooter - sign me up !

Is this something that anyone else has a problem with ?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/gds/Headset-stand ... 062/g.html

Quote:
Modern smartphone typically use headsets with four conductor points (the "bands" that you can see on a connector). In almost all cases two points are used for audio out (stereo), one for the microphone, and one for signalling (e.g. to end a call). However, these points are not always used in the same way, or in the same order.

There are two common arrangement for a four conductor point headset. The first, known as CTIA (Cellular Telephone Industries Association) or American Headset Jack (AHJ) standard, has the microphone connector point on the sleeve end, with the signalling (or ground) connector on the second ring. This arrangement is used by HTC devices, and some recent devices from Sony and Nokia. Apple uses a similar connector arrangement, but uses a non-standard microphone and control signalling method.

The second common arrangement is the longer established and more formalised OMTP standard. It has the signalling connector (ground) next to the sleeve, with the microphone connector on the second ring. This is the reverses of the CTIA arrangement. It is used by the majority of mobile phones currently being sold, most Samsung smartphones, and older Sony Ericsson and Nokia smartphones.
Emphasis mine.

Sony have announced that the PS4 has hit 50 million units sold

https://www.destructoid.com/sony-surpas ... 3520.phtml

And there is a 'rumor' of the list for their 12 days of Christmas (below) - the first 4 are now confirmed so i expect the rest to be - Skyrim is about £23 which is similar to what it was in the black friday sale so if there is anything your interested on the list below wait and buy it on the sale day (and everyone should pick up Titanfall 2 which should be around the middle of next week)

I'd still suggest to people they fit a drive internally, given how easy and neat it is. But there's more things you could do here e.g. buy an affordable smaller SSD for internal use (holding the OS and one or two preferred games) and then a larger, cheaper HDD for the rest of your library.

The Quick Menu will cover less of the game screen, and you’ll now be able to create, join and manage Parties on the go, meaning you can connect with friends without having to leave the game.
Oooh, that's nice.

Oooh, of course: an external HDD could be a 3.5" desktop sized ones, which are a lot cheaper at larger volumes.

PS4 Pro boost mode is interesting.

Playing games with no PS4 Pro mode in that hardware profile.

Seems like it would mostly be a boost in framerate to games with variable framerate, less dips in games with locked framerate, and more consistent resolution for games with dynamic resolution. But games which are locked at 30fps will remain so.

Kind of like what you can do with a hacked New 3DS, forcing games to run in New 3DS mode, for pretty significant performance improvements for some games, but also bugs and glitches in other games.

How'd you get in that? I'd love to smash in my ex.drive so I don't have to keep juggling a bunch of shit around on my 500gig. Bloody Doom takes up almost 80 gig and I've had to delete CoD: IW and Uncharted 4 to play some games from Christmas. Having an external drive would be ace for us who don't fancy opening up the machine.

Colour me badd interested. Let's say I go the route of fitting a 1TB internal drive like this.

And in addition I get a big external hdd. Is the approach here to basically copy games from the external HDD to the internal HDD when you want to play them? Or can one play them straight off the external HDD, but you might get worse performance?

As long as you get a USB3 external caddy you should barely notice a difference. USB3 is comparable in speed to current SATA.

Resogun - I fired this up on the PS4 last night. It's still a mighty pretty thing when all guns are blazing.

But I couldn't help noticing there are only two Beex People* on its leaderboards (who I'm PS friends with, which is obviously not an exhaustive list).

I'd have thought this was a game that was bummed hard here. WHAT GIVES?

*Myp and Zoidberg. Zoidberg appears to be much, much better than Myp.
