Here's a thing which I'll just shove in here:

http://www.classification.gov.au/Pages/ ... sHBG9lWpXU

Essentially Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhatten has had an Australian classification for some reason. Why's it in here? Platinum Games are named so this could be their next game.

I was disappointed they didn't use the intro sequence from the cartoon.

I bought this in the XboxOne digital christmas sale for £20. Not had chance to even look at it yet and I get Fallout 4 tomorrow from Santa*

So overall this post is mainly to advise the millions of Xbox One owners on here that it's £20 for Gold Members at the moment.

Fill your boots you ravenous hordes.

There should we a website or something to tell us when and where to get cheap games.

Transformers: Devastation is mechanically identical to Bayonetta 2 except you don't have to use the stupid WiiU pad so therefore it's better than B2.

You don't have to use the Wii U Gamepad to play Bayonetta 2. It supports the Pro controller, or the Classic controller.
First screenshots of Platinum's upcoming TMNT game.

I think they signed a three game deal with Activision, so this would be the third, but depending on how profitable these three were for both parties, they could do more.

I haven't got either of those controllers, so I could care less. Anyway, it was just a bit of harmless poking fun at the unwieldy controller.

Transformers is pretty awesome though. Level 1 and I've fought Megatron twice and messed up Devastator already. FUCK YEAH! I'm surprised more people haven't got interested in this.

The combat is except its less fancy, has shorter combo strings and involves Transformers transforming rather than getting nekked mid-fight but it has witch-time, is the same Platinum combo masher for beginners but is more nuanced at higher difficulties. But it improves on Bayonnetta because it has Transformers and everyone's fave voices. Megatron in particular sounds glorious.

When you say less fancy do you mean graphically or "play"ically?

Playically really, although Bayonnetta was high on the scale for zany graphics during fighting, anyway, right, which this doesn't even attempt to emulate (although they do turn into cars and a dinosaur which I suppose is pretty out there). You've not got the range of weapons that Bayonetta had but you do have different robots who play differently. Prime is all about the hand axe, Bumblebee is about the punching and Sideswipe is about the twin blades, and so on.

Yeah it is way simpler than their other similar games, but it plays and feels a lot like Bayonetta or Revengenace.

Sorry, my intention was to evolve the initial crime into a greater aberration of the English language by kicking things off with a So and rounding out with a question mark.

Anyway, shouldn't we be discussing this addicting game?

And fuck me if I didn't just have the shittest fight ever in any game. I'm uploading this because it was mindbendingly awful.

A fight in the space bridge where there's no floors, ceiling or fucking nothing. Just you walking in a colourful vacuum in a fight against Starscream who flies all over the fucking shop - under you over you around you. Now, I'll be honest I read that the fights against flying enemies was bad but it really isn't at all. But the fight here was fucking nonsense. And it dawned on me earlier but became very apparent in this fight that the lack of any lock on whatsoever is a bleeding terrible idea. Or maybe they ran out of time to implement it. No, that can't be right, a lock on is the bread and butter of the basic mechanics of these games and, by golly, Platinum have made enough of these sodding games to know how to make a lock-on mechanic surely? Then why am I trying to track enemies with the right stick whilst trying to jam my delicate fingers on the right buttons. I ain't a crab and ive got enough osteoarthritis from years of touching myselfgaming so fuck that for a laugh.

Oooh, not happy about that. It's really diminished any goodwill it had from including the Transformers characters. Grrrrr. Wait till I've uploaded it and tell me I ain't going mad.

Yeah the flying enemies were slightly more annoying than the ones in Revengeance, and no lock on was probably a factor.

That reminds me of my experience with that French bird with 12 arms last night. I was spazzing round at her while little big-eyed bowling balls were groping me all over, and I had no idea where to look or where to bash. The camera flailed madly. Made it through with some fairly blind mashing.

(Revengeance)

You can tell this is budget when you get further into the game, not least because Cybertron is basically an underground hanger. It's a little disappointing after the first bit of the game was pretty ace. Apart from the Starscream fight in a tunnel it has been largely pretty decent but then comes along a defend Wheeljack section which is punishingly difficult. Wheeljack is about as strong as a the tea my mum makes and the enemies rush him almost immediately. Especially the big fuckers who don't mess about and waste him in second leaving you to repeat the entire section from the very beginning. Waves after waves of robotic cunts pile in on him until you're back at the start. I wouldn't mind so much because I was doing pretty good having done this type of level earlier in the game and knew exactly where I needed to be but then these big ole clamps come down and tip the playfield, literally, and Prime says "Don't worry about Wheeljack, get them clamps off us, we'll hold off the baddies from instantly murdering Wheeljack. No, really, don't you worry. There's like 5 of us doing this, Ian. WE GOTS THIS." So off I run and Wheeljack is murdered seconds later causing a restart.

Well ain't this a game of frustrations then.

I'm half tempted to give it a pass because there just simply isn't any other Transformers game where you can fight your childhood robotic heroes and villains, looking so bloody muthafucking GORGEOUS and just like the cartoons and films. Seriously, the characters looks stunning. They move great. It does the fucking transforming noise properly too. Man alive, if you just wanted a game where you played as the autobots and just fought round after round of your favourite decepticons then you'd be chuffed to bits and fuck me if this ain't ain't pretty much exactly that.

So why am I not exactly chomping at the bit to play it again? Damn it. There ain't ever going to be another Transformers game from Platinum games ever again (judging from what I've heard about the poor sales) so this is probably the last ever Transformers game that you will ever want to play. It's clearly the best Transformers game but it just isn't perfect by a long stretch. It's good but not that good that I'd recommend everyone play it. Hell, you'd have to have a pretty decent working knowledge of PG-style of games to not throw it in the bin with frustration 2/3rds of the way into the game; maybe earlier.

It's made me download the film again so there is that. Baa-weep-ninny-bong an' all.

Yeah. The basics are solid, the combat is a lot of fun, but you can really tell it's been made quicker/cheaper than Platinum's best work.

In the hands of a less capable developer, it wouldn't have turned out half as good, but it's still not Platinum's A game.

I've changed my mind, it's brilliant again. Some good fights at the end especially against Thundercracker and Skywing, then against all of the individual bits of Devestator, then a fight against Devestator and then fucking Menasor pops in for a three-way. Lunacy it was.

Oh, fuck me, nostalgia wins. This was a glorious trip down memory lane. I WUBS YOU TRANSFORMERS.

Stats:
Playtime: 6;59:55 (although I'm sure I left it paused all afternoon. Mus'unt ave logged that. It's not a bad amount of hours for a short campaign)
Enemies defeated: 855
Bosses defeated: 29 (cor. So that's where most of your game time goes)
Parries: 40 (I'm shit at doing a parry in every game ever)
Distance travelled: 40 km
Number of times died: 40
Most popular character: Sideswipe.

I demand another animated film, and not with shit 3D graphics neither. I want hand drawn Akira style guys doing the biz on it. Where's the fucking Kickstarter for that aye?
