Grumblington-on-the-Wold was once a great town, but over the years it has decayed and become a shadow of its former self. The Town Hall has been vandalised, the 'travelling' funfair is all broken down bar the Big Wheel, and businesses are starting to close as the recession hits hard.

BUT!

There's still a sense of community, and a sense of pride over the Town. The populace, united for once under the new Mayor, have started to make inroads into the malaise that has affected the Town.

So, imagine the horror when the Mayor was found dead this morning, his eyes taken from his skull and a note left on his body saying that the Mafia were taking over the Town.

Townies, defend yourselves!

Gosh, poor old mayor. I was working on a sculpture of him. Think I'll finish it off and see if they'll stick it in the town hall as a tribute.

Has anyone told his wife? :(

Recession getting you down? Want to raise a glass to our dearly departed mayor?
Businesses may be going out of, er, business, but the bar is still open to one and all.
Perhaps someone would like to hire out the function room for a reception?

On this sad day.....

I would like to .....

<puts on record player over tannoy>
<turns up volume>
<sits back and listens to the music of the Eric and Will>
Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven
Will it be the same
If I saw you in heaven
I must be strong, and carry on
Cause I know I don't belong
Here in heaven

Would you hold my hand
If I saw you in heaven
Would you help me stand
If I saw you in heaven
I'll find my way, through night and day
Cause I know I just can't stay
Here in heaven

Time can bring you down
Time can bend your knee
Time can break your heart
Have you begging please
Begging please

(instrumental)

Beyond the door
There's peace I'm sure.
And I know there'll be no more...
Tears in heaven

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven
Will it be the same
If I saw you in heaven
I must be strong, and carry on
Cause I know I don't belong
Here in heaven

Cause I know I don't belong
Here in heaven....

I'll take a 3 pints of Stella, a vodka-lemonade, a bottle of house white, and a Guinness, please. I'm not sure what the others want to drink.

Take one for yourself, obviously.

Hmm, define 'bulk'?

They are limited edition prints. If you buy, say, 500, you can have them for £15 each. £13.75 for a thousand.

Nicely done, standards are slipping in this town, if only people would read more, literacy would improve greatly.

I do have one question. What, exactly, was a respected member of the community, such as yourself, doing on the Big Wheel overnight?

Well, I was somewhat drunk, as was Miss McClusky, so we went on the Big Wheel. She said she was feeling ill and got off, I decided to have one more go and I must have fallen asleep.

Anyway, does anyone want another drink?

I'm willing to bet that all kinds of unexpected evil is lurking in our midst. After tonight I wager that we'll start getting a clue who is responsible for these darstardly acts.

Also, apologies if I am not around a lot during 'today' as I have a million tax returns to submit by the end of the month which I haven't started on yet, and also meetings. However, this may also lead to me being around a lot as I get bored and get distracted.

The mayor is dead!
No eyes in his head!
What did he see?

KovacsC, I'm still available for the 'comedians eating meat' mural for your wall, if you'd like. I've really got the knack of drawing Fatty Arbuckle's chins now.

Morning,

A bit of a shock about the mayor - he had a lot of good ideas to help the small shops around town and I'm sad to see all his good ideas end like this :-(

I'll be closing up the butchers early today so if you want something come along and get it before 2:00
