A villain making a vague claim is pointless. They have no reason at all to expose themselves as they can just off everyone - it doesn't really matter who they target. At most, they'll oust one hero if they're lucky, and then they'll die the next night anyway - if not overnight.

It's pretty plainly obvious that exposing yourself to danger when not necessary is a bad idea.



It depends on the context, what was said and why. If you have solid information and a good target, it's worth doing what Russ did (although maybe not so early next time ) - an explicit "I am x. Kill y." But if an explicit roleclaim would be pointless or dangerous, it is obviously a bad idea. If Russ had no idea who the villains were and roleclaimed anyway, we'd currently be facing three killers, a doomed batman, and a very good chance that we'd all be dead or wrongly arrested in two days.

Robin can only investigate if batman dies. This has been discussed a couple of times now, and is in the rules.



If he does nothing but defend, we won't get any more information until more innocents die. Much of my recent posting has been on the understanding that we're considering having Russ arrested, so he won't need to protect himself. Having him protect himself every night is a waste when arresting him would serve the same purpose, and allow him to arrest/investigate tonight, and on the first night should the jailer die and Russ be released.

Yeah, I shot my load early, but I was excited to have found a baddie.

We also need to know what the policeman needs to do for the arrest either you or another?

Sinister Agent, I'm not saying power roles should just be randomly claiming but if you are claiming then you should be full claiming. Just saying "Hi, I'm a power role" is pointless.

If you know who the cop/jailer is, you might also want to consider protecting them tonight. Obv. weigh it against the other options.

I get your point, but again, I think it depends on the context and exactly which power roles (good and bad) are in play.

Only problem with that is if the batman protects someone can he get attacked himself?

Nope, I can arrest. I can also kill, investigate and protect. So you see why I'm perhaps selfishly prioritising my own alived-ness over yours. At least by proving you're the cop it puts you above suspicion, and takes my list of five people down to four.
