It's morning in Grumblington-on-the-Wold.

No screams greet the latest body. It's become far too regular an occurrence.

This time the corpse belongs to sinister agent.

A visit to his house shows a punching bag and a copy of 'How to lose friends and alienate people'.

Sinister Agent was the Troublemaking Townie.

The coroner has updated the local noticeboard as appropriate.

[playerlist]
zaphod79
ApplePieofDestiny
Joans
Trooper
Gilly
Mr Russell
LaceSensor
KovacsC
[/playerlist]

With 8 people in town, we're looking at 5 votes for a lynch.

Day ends Thursday at 4pm.

emmm , I'm surprised to see both Joans and Lace still around - and no carnies gone overnight .... 8 people left from our once proud town is a very low number.

I guess the first question is - Joan's , who did you investigate , and can we trust you at all ?

Its been suggested I am a carnie since dawn yesterday, mr derp.

The fact that they likely recruited on both nights I had broken locks is beside the point of course.

Sorry I thought it was accepted - I don't remember you refuting it at all - apart from Claiming that Joans was the carnie leader ?

If he is can you take a trip in your taxi cab to get him , so he can open up the bar (i'll even pay the "FAIR" for him)

I only found a townie, bit of a shame the mafia didn't hit a carney last night. I'm not sure who we're better off going for.

The mafia would be a good start, unless the town want to lose of course?

Sorry for missing the end of day yesterday, I left a vote on for lace sensor as he was a known baddy but I'd have been happy to change to alarm if i'd been here, considering I've been naming him as one of my main suspects for a few days now.
Currently, we know for a fact lace is bad so [vote:LaceSensor]
If anyone can reason out who else is a viable Target then ill go with it bi we can't hit a townoe or we lose (if we haven't already). I have no idea why the mafia didn't hit lace, I thought that was a given.
Just in my car returning from a hat conference so ill say more when I get back tp the square if there is a discussion to be had.

It is a fairly good fair, and given a fair chance I think half of this fair town are already riding the rides secretly. Fair. Derp.

We can't afford to hit a townie tonight, and we can't afford the Carnys to get one more person. Ridiculous as it sounds, I'm putting my faith in Mafia hitting a Carnie overnight, The roleblocker (Zaphod? If it is you, please...) hitting the carney leader, and Joans the Carney hunting out an Mafia.

However, Mr Russ is no good. I'm almost sure of it, but not as sure as I am that we need to hit a Carny person.

No , I'm just annoyed with myself because at the start of the game I (along with someone else) pointed out that Lace when talking about his Taxi firm said "Fair" , instead of "Fare" - I said it was him blatantly dropping a hint that he was a carnie , and it wasnt really taken seriously and I didnt follow up on it - and now we know he's a carnie so its more that i'm pointing out how stupid i was.

Everyone gathers together and grabs Lacesensor roughly. He is hauled to the gallows and hung by the neck until he is dead.

A look at his caravan (that should have been a hint) shows lucky heather and the keys to the funfair.

LaceSensor was the Chief Carney

Night actions to..

Oh wait. Someone is speaking.

"That'll do", says Gilly. "Finish them off."

"Happily", says Mafia Goon AppliePieofDestiny, pulling out his pistol and shooting KovacsC, the last remaining Recruited Carney in the head.

"Stop, police!" cries Joans, the Undercover Cop, as people try to scatter, but they can't.

Zaphod79, the Mafia Saboteur has glued the floor, and nobody can move!

APOD shoots Joans in the head.

"I knew it!" screams Trooper. "I knew you were Mafia!"

But then Trooper thought everyone was Mafia, as he was the Paranoid Cop

APOD shoots him in the head as well.

"I picked the wrong people on whom to depend,
So now I fear that I meet my end!"

That was Mr Russ, the Townie Poet.

And he does meet his end, shot through the head.

Gilly, the Mafia Don nods her head at her boys. They've done it. They've won.

[Mafia had 3 people to 4 opposed. Given the night kill and no opposing night actions of effectiveness, it leaves 3 vs 3 the next day and no lynch (or a stupid townie lynch), followed by a night kill, and then a majority]

AWARDS!

MVP - All the Mafia team, but a special little nod to Gilly for staying under the radar for most of the time. And one to APOD for his quite ridiculously made-up radio broadcast which confused everyone enough to make them lynch a Townie.

Batting for the other team award - The pair of cops neatly managed to round up most of the Carney team, allowing the Mafia victory.

Most in-character award - A tough category. Craster and Slightly Green were perfect as the romeo/stalker and his girlfriend/prey. Grim... was very much into the spirits (and beers) of things. DavPaz superbly implied he wasn't allowed to vote. Trooper, upon realising his role, was superb at revealing it in character.

But the award goes to Mr Russ for actually managing to stay in rhyme for the entire game duration, and somehow not getting either lynched or recruited.

If only... award - Trooper. Whilst he turned out to be a paranoid cop who would return 'Mafia' for everyone's status, the three people he did get to investigate were all baddies, so if he'd stood up and turned them in after getting two, the Town would probably have won!

Least bloodthirsty bloodthirsty townie - GJ showing very little bloodlust. Boo!

Worst bet - The gambling townie placed a bet on Trooper to die on Night One. He didn't die at all (until the epilogue).

Village idiot of the week in the dead thread award - It could only be Craster, for gems such as:

- "Everyone's just dancing to Jones' dirty scum tune, and has been for days."

...and...

- "Joans is so blatantly mafia. I can't believe how lucky they've been."

I really enjoyed GMing this game. I thought everyone got into the spirit of things and it was ace fun from this angle. I hope that everyone else enjoyed it, and that the people to whom I gave a tough role (especially Mr Russ, Slightly Green and Trooper) don't hate me too much for it!!!

Cheers Curio! Best game of Mafia for a while IMO. (Sorry any one who ran one recently) because loads of people got involved and the busier it is, the better.

However, how the hell are you supposed to act like a Tattoo Parlour owner, FFS?

Thanks Curio - if someone could unlock the dead thread ....

I would say it all played out very even and a votes difference today could have kept the mafia from winning (oh and Joans we thought lastnight you had a choice of 2 people and were hoping you'd pick Gilly

I seriously sent an email about 10 minutes before this was posted to the rest of the team on what we would do if Lace was not the Carnie leader (so it would have to be Mr Russell) about leaving Joans alive and killing Kovacs so there was at least one townie left because I was worried if it was 3vs3 for carnies / mafia then I didnt know what would happen next.

I should've trusted my instincts about Gilly and apod :'(

Good game though guys, and that radio thing was a masterstroke - I'm sure it crossed everyone's mind that it might be fake, but clearly none of us really thought so. Well played, and I think bonus points to Davpaz.

Best game of Scum I've ever been involved in. Sadly, probably the last online as it takes up too much work time. It took a whole hour to put that radio message together, cross referencing through the threads to leave two circumstances open for each of the five elements, so that I could always work an angle against any argument that was raised. The only 'thing' it aimed to do wasn't actually picked up in public, two references to 'She', one clearly being GJ, the other being Gilly, to take focus off her.

The Gilly thing was what made me suspect Malc (and Russ, too - good thing I didn't pursue that even further :() - it worked brilliantly.

It also made people start questioning me calling Trooper she (although I'm sure Grim... and others did).

At the start of yesterday with 10 players left every non mafia person had to vote for a mafia to stop us winning and they did !
At the start of today with 8 people left *everyone* on the town side had to vote for a mafia to stop us winning and when i saw the votes line up for Lace i had to double check twice before i got my vote in :-)

I think if Joans had investigated Riles last night and came out to say he was Mafia then he would have died today , we'd have killed someone non lace tonight (he was left and blocked specifically because it was that close that us taking him out would have lost the game) and then it would have continued tomorrow with 6 players and everyone have to line up to kill either Gill or me.

BTW a question to Lace - was the Fair / Fare thing really a mistype or did you put it in deliberately.

If the answer is deliberately then I'm ready for my first post for the next game "[vote:lacesensor]" :-)

From then on I was pretty sure I couldn't trust anything I thought I was doing, but having had 2 roleblocks I didn't have enough info to go on to know I was a crappy cop. I wasn't sure if there were going to be two investigative roles for the town, as the game seemed pretty weighted towards the carnies and mafia and we needed some help! Not getting any baddies the first couple of days pretty much killed us.

The blind aspect worked really really well, so did the days finishing at 2pm for the most, so next game I run i'm going to ignore all you fuckers who say you prefer evening finishes, as it blatantly isn't true :D

Mr Russ did an epic job I think, and Gilly played a blinder, I really thought she was good until Malc turned out to be a townie.

Oh, and I didn't think the message was genuine to start with, as I didn't see how that was possible, but that was all a bit meta! For it to be true there had to be another forum setup that curiosity could watch, but I know how much of a bitch that was to setup for the jail, so wasn't sure it would have been done. Everyone seemed convinced it was real and that convinced me too :D :belm:

I should've trusted my instincts about Gilly and apod :'(

Good game though guys, and that radio thing was a masterstroke - I'm sure it crossed everyone's mind that it might be fake, but clearly none of us really thought so. Well played, and I think bonus points to Davpaz.

If you read it right though, it did point to Alarm, Zaphod and Gilly all being mafia, which I guess was clearly accidental. Bit of a shame everyone blundered in to get Lace without thinking it through, but I think the extra mafia made everyone still think the carneys were the bigger threat.

Exactly, I was certain the carnies were about to win and we need to take one out!

Also, you bunch of massive townie belms, listen to me next time when I trot out voting patterns :D

I have an idea for another game, but as is my want, it's going to be complex! I'm not sure if my idea is even possible...
Might be best if we alternate each month between a normal quick game, and the more complex uber games?
