Gibberish. You were somehow inferring that without the SK the town suddenly has no chance, whereas actually they have a much better chance than they would if Curiosity hadn't claimed to be the SK and started all this 'I'll help you' nonsense. Assuming we kill him, obv.

His point is that you seem to be morally opposed to the town making a "deal" with the SK like this. Hence all the strenuous arguments :)

Lets assume an highly likely game where Curiosity hadn't claimed to be the SK and offered to 'help' in return for a limited amount of extra life. We, as the town, wouldn't have a clue who was who and the SK would be killing throughout the game with impunity. He'd be a threat and ideally we'd like him dead as soon as we could identify him.

Compare that to today's game where we actually, for once, know who a bad guy is on Day 1. We still know nothing about anybody else. The choice is simple, pick someone who BASED ON PROBABILITY will be a townie, or pick someone we know to be bad. And you're sticking up for the bad guy.

I'm also against the deal because it relies too much on trusting someone we shouldn't. And also that there MIGHT be a roleblock and MIGHT be a mafia kill on the same target, and MIGHT be a doctor protecting the target etc etc.

Perhaps because someone noticed he'd included a verifiable role townie on his hit-list..

Wait, what? Have I missed something?

FWIW, my 'hit-list' is everyone who has been utterly unwavering in their defence of a)A serial killer who can only win with all of us dead or b)A lying mafia goon.

Note that there are others who weren't voting for Curiosity (eg bluecup, until this evening) who were not on my hit-list. This is because it is based 100% solely on observed behaviour.

Imagine we've got the SK locked up in the cells. Are you going to waste valuable time dragging him out and lynching him, whilst there's MAFIA KILLERS AND CRAZED CULT LOONS running about?

Well, here he's not in the cells but he's on a damn short leash.

Please take off your blinkers and look beyond "winning" day 1.

I said in my first post that the SK could be our friend, we needed him to kill some mafia as he did in the last game if we're going to win. Now that we know who he is that's even better, we can get rid of him if he's too much trouble.

Let me point out for the 100th time that even if, assuming he's the SK, we let Curio kill for us, it wouldn't be any use. He's more likely to kill a townie than a bad person. Just like we're more likely to hang a townie than a bad person. By allowing the SK to kill all we're doing is doubling the probability that a townie is hit. With the mafia kill and the cult recruit, as well as a bad hanging, that could put us a possible FOUR townies down by day two.

Or we could kill the known bad guy.

Hang on - when did he go back to the possibility of actually being the SK ?

Your post earlier :

But, if we kill Curiosity, then our only weapon is lynches, and they're apparently no good because we'll just kill a townie.

There's no bonus points for killing the SK on the first day. Short term, it's clearly a good idea, but it's not going to help us win the game.

He's not the SK.

That leash is long enough to reach each and every person still alive. So it's more of a bus pass.

I really can't be bothered anymore.
Just kill him and we can all pat ourselves on the back for killing the bad guy.

Hopefully I'll be dead in the morning and won't have to worry about the town being fucked.

Just because he's not the SK doesn't mean it's not worthwhile countering "but what if he is?" arguments.

Again with this 'town being fucked' thing. The town will be in no worse a position than it would have been had the SK not claimed. A BETTER position, in fact, because they'd be one less person to kill townies.

I hope you're dead by morning too :)

But he wasn't going to kill townies, he was going to kill at random. It could work in our favour or against, but you're not even willing to give it one nights chance.

You're damn right I'm not, given the greater likelihood of him hitting a townie. Not worth the risk.

So, tomorrow we're not going to lynch anyone, right? Too great a risk of hitting a townie.

Tomorrow there will be more information, and, of course, if Curio turns out to be scum I've got a great idea of who to accuse next.

Its not going to make any difference - he's not going to change his mind - its just a waiting game for someone to come along and vote for curio to end the day (i think Duds said he would if there was no other decision by tomorrow am)

Let me guess, it'll be me. But, then you'll find out I'm a townie, and, oh no! The prophecy will come true.

Duds already has, so it's a case of waiting for someone else.

Don't worry Joans, I'm more interested in the quiet ones that I can see checking this thread regularly, but who are also not voting, and not adding anything to the debate. That's more suspicious than anything.

Right I'm shattered. If there's anyone who's waiting till about midnight before they cast the deciding vote, then I'm just going to say "TWAT! Do it now!", otherwise I'll assume that I'm ok to to go to bed and we'll leave this hanging (LOL) until the morning.

Well last vote (with bluecup swapped over) :

comicalgnomes: 4 votes (bobbyaro, curiosity, joans, kalmar)
curiosity: 10 votes (bluecup, comicalgnomes, craster, dudley, gazchap, mr russ, plissken, spinglo sponglo!, squirt, zardoz)
dudley: 2 votes (mrak, runcle)
mr russ: 1 vote (goddess jasmine)
zaphod79: 2 votes (lacesensor, zaphod79)
zardoz: 1 vote (sheepeh)

Your best options are going to be :
mrak, runcle, goddess jasmine, lacesensor or sheepeh to get that last vote.

I haven't posted much because it's just been circular arguments that have given me a headache. I actually fell asleep reading this thread earlier (trufax) more because I was so tired though to be honest...

Anyway, I would have liked to have kept curio for a night, just to see like, but if it helps to move the game on I'll change my vote over, at least we'll get some answers this way and some of us can go to bed (not together of course).

[vote:curiosity]

After a long drawn out day with much debate (some might say too much), the town finally make their decision, crowding round Curiosity, baying for blood. They pick him up and lay him flat above them in what looks like some kind of dreadful crowdsurf.

Marching him up to the now gently smoking volcano mouth, Goddess Jasmine and plissken each grab him from one end before heaving him over into the molten furnace below: "1...2...3...HO!"

The townsfolk make their way back to Curiosity's house: Zardoz breaks the lock with a crowbar; Spinglo Sponglo! then enters and scouts around for some clues to who he really was.

On the coatstand in the hall he finds a trenchcoat and a homburg hat, and a tommy gun in the chest of drawers in the bedroom. As it turns out, Curiosity was a Mafia Goon.

It is now night. Those with night actions, please PM them to me by Saturday 6pm.
