Another game criminally underrated. All the fluff and padding from skyward sword has been removed to give a short 20hr power play. Great stuff. And the open dungeon design and tool purchasing system was great.

It's mainly this which puts me off buying it. Removes some of the suspense and exploration from the game, to my mind.

You should buy it anyway as it's brilliant.

probably when I have time. This week is mainly going to be mixing music, and once that's complete, I'm probably going to be a little buried in final fantasy X HD* along with maybe borderlandsing with myp.
I'm guessing that this doesnt count for the list as ive already completed the non hd version.

I am wary of portable Zeldas, because I found Phantom Hourglass mind numbingly boring, despite it getting good reviews.

I've completed Another World this evening. Yeah, I know.. It's taken a few years but I never did it on the Amiga. I completed the Megadrive version on my GP2X Wiz while occasionally looking at a 3DO walkthrough

:this: It was boring indeed. I'm on other side of the fence of Doctor Lave, as i think most Zelda games are criminally overrated.

Na I had about 5, the last few days were getting to me with far too much stuff to check over. I know that's the point but I was just getting sick of checking by the end and thinking far too many were eligible to cross. Definitely had my fill and I did manage to do a full 31/32 days so I'm having it.

Zelda f00ls inz thr34d y0!

Anyhow, 5th game down. VVVVVV on the 3DS, I have it on the Mac, but never played it beyond about 20mins.

A much better fit for the 3DS, and the constant map on the second screen makes it a joy to explore. (Really something that the WiiU should be doing).

Glorious 2D platformer, thats cut down to it's prime. No filler. 3hrs to complete, though the pull of all the 20 collectables is calling me...

Terry Cavanagher who made VVVVVVV, Don't look back and Super Hexagon, is pretty much my favourite developer now.

The Legend of Zelda: link between worlds[3DS] - all killer no filler Zelda. Cut to the prime.
VVVVVV [3DS] - one simple mechanic fully explored in 3hrs. Beautiful music, imagery and even story. Love it.

This thread is making me polish off all my short games to get them added to my list. Which has turned out to be great fun.

Generally the only difference between a short game and a long one is the amount of filler in the game. I generally get far more satisfaction from a smaller one.

That said I realised I put over 50hrs into NSMBU, without a second of filler. So it doesn't always hold.

(Making good progress on Rhythm Paradise for the original Wii - It is fantastic),

Re: Short games.

I agree ergo, I've completed Another World.

I'm getting stuck into Project X Zone on the 3DS at the moment and while it's great, it's taking ages to do anything. One battle took about 50 minutes the other day and it was only level 4.

Obvs, Tru Dat.

FACT.

Y2K+14.

(but seriously, yeah thats what I meant, the longer you make a game, the harder it is to make it a good game.)

I tried to play that the other day on my phone but the controls were fucking awful so it was basically unplayable past a certain point. I think there's a web version of it so I might look into that...

To be fair I just played the web version there and got as far as I did on my phone, it just took a lot less time and was much less frustrating. The issue was with the size and placement of the buttons which can be very dependant on screen size and resolution.

Yeah I had a small issue with that even on a 5S. My thumb would naturally drift over a bit onto the play area.

No problems going back after picking up the ghost though because you "Can't Look Back" AHAHHAHAHAH.

I mean "Don't".

That doesn't work now.

Oh.

Double finished VVVVVV. Now got all the trinkets. At the cost of another 2000 lives. Very rarely do I go for 'collect em ups' but that's twice this year already.

Would never have done it on the PC, but it was a fun challenge as part of the daily commute. I was so wrong about iOS supplanting consoles on handhelds as part of my commute.

Sixth game! Attack of the Friday monsters. £2.67 at the moment - which I can recommend. Very short. No game, just story. But a Sunday afternoon playing the game is like a gibli trip to childhood.

Still, absolutely no game, and very slight. But fun though.

And now Contrast (PS4). Now, to be honest, if you're going to make a puzzle game you should cram in some puzzles every once in a while. There ain't many and nothing that won't tax the brain. The main problem is, well, for a brand spanking PS4 game it's, um, ropey. It needed a bit of quality testing if you ask me and tidying up around the edges.

Anyway it was free so I mustn't complain. Except I can: it was shit. Actually it wasn't that bad but it wasn't good neither.

I've started playing Project X Zone on the 3DS but I think I may regret it.

50+ hours of gameplay to complete it apparently.

Not a bit like it. It's an RPG featuring Capcom, Sega, Namco and other characters. It's alright but I don't know if I can last 50 hours with it.

And now Last of Us DLC (PS3) (yeah, I'm claiming that) and Outlast (PS4).

Outlast was bloody (ho ho) brill. It got at least 4 genuine good scares out of me which, for a videogame (and me being hard as nails), is bloody (ho ho) good going.

It wasn't that long - clocking in about 4 hours - but it couldn't really be much longer than that and still be able to surprise and scare. There's some awesomely sick characters in there too. The doctor with no degrees who chases you referring to you as "buddy", Chris whatshisface chasing you, the brilliantly scary duo who, guess what, chase you. It's all fabulously harrowing stuff throughout. Well, right up until the end where it suddenly worries that a scary asylum isn't enough (they're wrong, it was) and go all F.E.A.R on your ass. Yes, there's a scary girl. Well, there isn't, but there's something supernatural that need not be in it. Oh, and the military and CIA. Ah well, let's all collectively sigh. You know what'd be scarier than the military and the CIA and scary ghosts? ABSOLUTELY FUCKING ANYTHING ELSE. Oh and just demented people being demented because they're demented. There's nothing scarier than human nature and morality gone awry. Anyway, don't blame me cause I didn't write it did I? I can't even post a picture on here the right way up...

Yeah I guess you could, but what about the first half of the Bioshock Infinite DLC though? Do you have to play both to have it as a complete game or do both count as 1?

I keep forgetting to update my first post, I've finished 3 more recently.

The Room 2 (Android)
New Super Mario Bros 2 (3DS)

and I'm going to say I've completed FIFA 14 (PS4)

I've just won the Division 1 title on on-line seasons mode. That's 10 seasons played, 9 promotions and I won the division title in each of the 10 leagues. 61 Wins, 9 Draws, 6 Defeats (Although one was EA Sports server disconnection, so should be 5). Pretty pleased with that record.

If I get round to both DLC, I'll say the Last of Us DLC is one complete, and both parts of the Rapture DLC is one n'all. But people can decide what they like.

I'm not counting LA Noire + DLC as two separate games as I played it all as one game. Left Behind does seem different though, as it's more of an expansion and less existing content sliced away to gouge you with later on.

1. LA Noire + all DLC cases (PC)
2. Lego Marvel Super Heroes (PS3)
3. OlliOlli (Vita)
4. The Last of Us: Left Behind (PS3)

Despite this challenge, my gaming time seems to be taken up playing Lego Marvel for the 100% and OlliOlli for the last two trophies and the Daily Grind. :(

Just updated my first post, 12 games completed. If your going for the 52, as in 1 a week, you should have 8 done by the end of today.

Hmmm, currently playing Fire Emblem, The Last of Us, Phoenix Wright T&T and Ouendan.

All big time sinks, and with Dark Souls 2 on the Horizon (please don't suck please don't suck), 52 is miles off.

The Last of Us takes 12-17 hours. Get it done!

It's so bloody good. I'm savouring it. It's like Bioshock Infinite, but with good game mechanics, characters I care about and doesn't suffer from massive ludo-narrative dissonance.

OK, I'm on the board with "Mate In 1" (iOS), a puzzler where you're presented with a chess board and only one possible move to get mate; and

"Nonoku" (iOS), a pic roses type puzzler where you draw a picture based on how many colours it tells you are left in a row or column.

That seems like it would be really easy.

Especially if you use a computer to do it.
