6. Shadow Blade
7. Deus Ex: The Fall
8. Far Cry 3

I might go back and mop up the two outstanding collectible related achievements in Far Cry but the main game is done with all the camps and skills and whatnot done so I've got a pretty high completion rate already. It was very good, but I was starting to get a bit bored by the end because there's so much game to the game.

Yeah, a proper treat.

It's all based on MC Escher monuments, and you turn the screen to allow your little character to move around on the surfaces.

It's also really cute, and just the right side of tricky to work out without being frustrating or having to look up a walkthrough.

Takes probably a couple of hours to complete, but you probably won't do it all in one go anyway.

Do recommend though.

Short and not brilliant platformer on Android. Although I was obviously sucked into it enough to play it through to completion and there was a certain amount of satisfaction in playing the later harder levels over and over getting a little bit further each time.

Don't Move is an odd meta not-really-a-game game that initially looks to have some interesting secrets but turns out not to. Which is a bit disappointing. There is some currently unexplained stuff in there but it seems to be unexplained because the dev hasn't bothered to implement anything around it yet, which is bullshit obviously.

And I'll add 17. Dark Souls 2 (PS3) to this list and 18. Shelter (PC) a flawed oddity that was merely ok.

1. COD: Ghosts [WIIU]. - Meh.
2. Don't look back [IOS: iPhone] - Ace.
Feb
3. New Super Mario Bros U [WIIU] - Incredible. Best 2D platformer I've ever played.
4. The Legend of Zelda: link between worlds[3DS] - all killer no filler Zelda. Cut to the prime.
5. VVVVVV [3DS] - one simple mechanic fully explored in 3hrs. Beautiful music, imagery and even story. Love it.
6. Attack of the Friday Monsters [3DS] - slight. Empty. But gibli childhood simulator.
Mar
7. The Last Of Us [PS3] - still recovering from the ending. So bloody good. HBO: The Game.
8. The Last of Us: Left Behind [PS3] - more of the same. Which is pretty much the greatest compliment possible.
9. Magic The Gathering 2014 [iOS: iPad] - lumbered with the most inelegant control scheme (which is a legacy of it's XBLA days) means it loses all of the tactial magic (hoho!) that should be present in a tablet version. Real shame.
10. Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations [DS] - It really shouldn't work - but it really does. Primarily because you care so much for the characters.
Apr
11. Guacamelee [vita] a fun so called metroidvania although it's far too linear to really be one. Wonderfully designed combat is the draw. Chaffless.

19. The Stanley Parable: It was very funny in parts, but not much of a game. It's a shame it didn't have a proper story because I was really enjoying it for a start; then I was just playing to do all the different options; then I was playing just to find all the endings from a wiki. I managed them all except for the four hour baby game. I mean, come on, I deliberately failed after 10 seconds.

Speaking of Trials, I finally managed to get sub-ten minutes on Gigatrack in Evolution tonight.

Mad kudos to Myp for his fault-free run, that's one fuck of a thing. Was it luck or did you try about a hundred times?

Man, that must have driven you insane. I bet you were a wreck for the last sixty seconds.

I think after a while it just became a kind of zen thing. I don't think I was even noticing pressing the restart button anymore.

Do you remember what bike it was on?

It was over a year ago, so no. Can you not watch my replay?

Not that I know of.

I'm pretty sure you could download anyone's replays and watch them. Maybe I'm wrong.

The Legend of Zelda: Link between worlds - Brilliant.
Feb
Another World - A nice looking Rick Dangerous.
March
Steamworld Dig - Brilliant platformer on the 3DS. Quite short, but ace.
April
Gears of War: Judgement - More of the same only more glitchy. Also, I did this in 4 player co-op

Apr
11. Guacamelee [vita - PS+] a fun so called metroidvania although it's far too linear to really be one. Wonderfully designed combat is the draw. Chaffless.
12. Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed [vita - PS+] despite being from Sumo I dismissed this game. Boy was I wrong. It's wonderful. Beautiful drifting. Not sure it would have grabbed me as much on the big screen though. Perfect for portable.

13. Luftrausers [vita] a perfect amount of scope.
14. Hotline Miami [PS3 & vita] the controls are a learning curve, but it comes alive on the vita thanks to tap targeting.

Added 13 & 14

I'm genuinely not sure what to think about Gone Home. The 'game' itself quickly becomes a slightly tedious 'cupboard opening simulator', but the atmosphere of the house was so well realised that I found myself quite transported to it. Playing it in the dark sitting close to the monitor probably helps more than sitting on the couch in front of a TV weirdly. The story is very well told and the relationships it describes are very believable; but it's an odd way to spin things out so I think the story might've been good in spite of the game structure not because of it. Maybe? I don't really know, as I said. I can definitely say I enjoyed it and am glad I played it though, so that's something.

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
ETA: Although it's just occurred to me that the whole thing with the 'psycho uncle' and the historical subplot about the pharmacy owner both get set up and then largely ignored (the latter in particular). Did I miss something or was it really left totally hanging?
