I may be missing something but did not think that Android tablets were locked out of products in the same way that Ipads are so could you not just skip the tablet part and play Hearthstone on your phone ?

The screen on a phone is far too small to play Hearthstone, TBH I find it a bit constricted on Mrs Hearthly's iPad Air, I definitely wouldn't want to go any smaller than that.

The Play store stops you downloading if it isn't compatible with your device, and the android hearthstone client has been set to be not compatible with my Note 3, so I would be very surprised if any other phone if compatible.

You can sideload it, I expect, but... faff.

Is it time for another tournament?

Rules are, you can use any class you like, but you have to create a new deck and immediately hit "done" for each round, so it autofills from your collection. No peeking at your decklist either, start your games as much in the dark as your opponent!

Each round is best of three and we'll do it as a league this time, so everyone gets a chance to play the same amount of games. You get a point for each game you win in the round, so a maximum of three points available each round.
Every round has to be a new deck each time, but you keep the same deck for the 3 games.

Anyone up for it?

So just to be clear

Create a new deck and pick a class
Hit 'done' so the game auto fills a deck for you using your available cards
Use this deck against person 1 , you play 3 games against this person
Wipe the deck and repeat for person 2 , etc

I have a warlock with a split Murloc / Mech deck which seems to be working quite well - and remember the new cards include 2 Shamen ones which draw extra murlocs / extra cards

The thing is this is so vastly different to my previous experiences of just a couple of weeks ago. I could believe they're pissing about with the matchmaking constantly and can't quite find the balance. I railroaded most of these matches and the one I lost was a very close thing mostly because I didn't have the coin. The guy I beat to get to 12 clearly wasn't an 11 win player. Very odd.

Not yet, keep forgetting and when I do remember there is nobody online!
I'm away over xmas from tomorrow, so the league might take a while to complete...

Regarding arena, there are a lot more cards now, so the chance of synergy is a lot lower, and the chance of getting the needed board clearance cards is also reduced as GvG didn't introduce any new ones of those.
A good deck will go far, and crappy decks will go nowhere as always, you just have a much greater chance of getting a crappy deck these days.

Exploding sheep ?

Useful for *some* board clearance stuff.

I'm currently playing around in ranked with a Shamen who has every Murloc (apart from the new shaman legendary) and some shamen specific cards (the two windfury cards + the minion who gives windfury) and when it fires off its amazing to watch - if i get the right murloc stuff at the start i can get lethal on turn 4 , if it dont and they have not cleared the board then old murk-eye plus windfury to double up on his hits is a big finisher as early as turn 6 (5 if i have the coin in hand)

It doesn't help your arena run when the floating card bug appears to be back. Waited for around 10 minutes but nothing was happening so I had to shut down the client and lose the game. I was winning too!

Working for me although its very fiddly to setup

I had around 2000 'coins' on my amazon account from some of the freebie stuff from last year (get free games and get 100 coins - use those coins to buy GTA for android and get even more).

Note you dont actually need to have an android device to do this - you can follow the link in the hotukdeals thread and download a 'virtual' android machine which you can install hearthstone to and then you can use it to buy card packs or arena runs (its slow on my system so i would not suggest playing on it but use it to buy then switch back to your regular system)

Quote:
You can run DuOS to get it. The download is from here http://www.amiduos.com/. I don't have a tablet, so this is what I did.

You must install Hearthstone from the Amazon store (on my tablet i had it from google play which did not give me the option to pay with amazon coins) and then when you go to buy anything in game the option is to use cash or amazon coins - when you use amazon coins you get 50% of them back so i spent around 1400 coins on 15 packs of cards and got 700 coins back - then spent 150 coins on an arena run and got 75 of those back

And for my 15 packs of cards I got one legendary which i already had so walked away with plenty of dust and i still have plenty of coins to play more arena runs or buy more card packs - i dont think this offer will be on for long but if (like me) you had these coins sitting around gathering dust then you might as well use them

Do you think it was 'the' Trump? Wouldn't he be playing US or does he play EU? Or do you play US?

Personally I've steered clear of Arena for months, still playing my daily quests in a mix of Casual and Ranked though, got to Rank 14 this month with no effort beyond daily quests.

Sometimes I find it hard to drag myself away from WoW but invariably after a game or two I'm right back into a very pleasant Hearthstone groove :) Lack of play is definitely hurting me though, I'm tending to make a few real fucking noddy mistakes, yesterday I Owled and Aldor-ed a single enemy when either would have done :D

This can make any game a longer more tactical game. The idea behind it is to outlast your opponent and burn their cards. You either want to draw them to 10+ cards, so they burn their deck, or control them to fatigue and draw them to death or just wait them out. It's all about board removal and healing.

The second one is hilarious. The Hunterlone deck. Hunter with zero minions, at all. Just you, your bow and your spells...

People don't know how to play against at the moment. Your main play is to get eaglehorn out and proc secrets to keep it up. That plus hero power is a minimum of 5 point damage per round. Save your clearance for taunts, and use misdirect on big minions :D

Next balance changes :

http://us.battle.net/hearthstone/en/for ... 5700587539

Quote:
Upcoming Balance Change to Undertaker
After the release of Goblins vs Gnomes, we kept an eye on the state of game balance as more matches were played with the new cards we introduced to Hearthstone. After careful consideration we have decided to make a balance change to the card Undertaker.

The following balance change will be made in an upcoming patch:

Undertaker now reads: Whenever you summon a minion with Deathrattle, gain +1 Attack.

Undertaker was frustrating to play against. It often gained both Attack and Health stats significantly above those of other inexpensive minions very early in the game. With this change, we expect Undertaker will still be better than other 1-Mana minions when played in a deck with a Deathrattle theme, but more likely to die in combat against other minions.

The golden version of Undertaker can be disenchanted for its full cost for a limited time once this balance change goes live.

We will continue to make balance changes to Hearthstone when we feel they are necessary in order to increase the variety of cards seen at all levels of play, with the goal of making Hearthstone a more fun and interactive game for everyone.

Author:  Hearthly [ Tue Jan 27, 2015 19:04 ]
Post subject:  Re: Hearthstone thread

Much needed IMO, against a cheap Deathrattle deck Undertaker could pretty much seal the game on Turn 1 or 2.

Undertaker > Coin > Leper Gnome/Webspinner/etc

If you can't deal with that Undertaker immediately (Fiery War Axe, Wrath etc), your game is effectively over. (Especially if it gets followed up with more cheap-ass Deathrattle minions.)

Hunters in particular could be ridiculous with them, as they also have the inexorable ticking of their hero power helping them along.
