I've had 0/3 once or twice. Sometimes the draft is irrecoverably bad! What was the reward?

1 pack, 25 dust.

The pack was junk, so I got 40 dust from that.

6/3 on the third run of the day. A pack and 140 gold. Pack had a golden common.

I have enough for a fourth, so fuck it, let's see how long I can keep going.

I will pretend that people are even reading this and keep posting.

Fourth run: 7/3. Pack, 175 gold.

I appear to be good enough to make a consistent profit. Currently at 285 gold so at least enough for two more runs tomorrow. Phew. I don't think I've played as much Hearthstone as I have today... ever.

Ok, so this spreadsheet now give me extra annoyance. I have 2000 dust, do I craft a new legendary, and if so which one, or do I finish off my Shaman, as that only needs 900 dust...

Surely a legendary is a better spend than class cards for a class you don't even play? Unless you're just getting a bit OCD about completing the sets? (Plus of course, many of the class cards are absolute stinkers and you'd never actually use them.)

I'm sat on 1755 dust at the moment so have the luxury of choosing a legendary but I really don't know what I want....

I'd love to do a control warrior but I'm missing FOUR legendaries for that deck....

Left last night's Arena on 3/2.

Stupidly I'm likely to craft captain greenskin soon, so I can complete the set and unlock the captain's parrot.

I also discovered that while you can craft gelbin mekatorp, the gold version is locked out as it was a promo reward for spending money during beta. I imagine they'll eventually change it as it's pretty inconsistent to lock out a card, especially to all 1.0 first time players whether they spent the cash or not!

A bit OCD? Have you seen the spreadsheet we have created?

I'll download and fill it in today, yesterday afternoon and evening disappeared into a long session at the pub followed up by a seriously horrible Chinese meal. (So bad we actually complained, had two of the meals completely removed from the bill and 20% knocked off the rest of the bill.)

OCD or not though, a legendary has to be #1 Priority IMO.

The damn spreadsheet made me play about 40 games yesterday, including some rare levelling up of Warlock and getting some golden basics. Each one was noted accordingly

I think the best strategy is merely to acquire cards until you know there's something you want, and then craft only that. Crafting for completeness is unwise unless it's to literally finish off the collection as you might unpack it naturally in the meantime.

Legendary cards ordered by usefulness (as defined by the amount of decks that use them on hearthhead)
The Naxx cards are out of sequence as they are so new, but being as everyone has them already, then that doesn't really make a difference when you are deciding which legendary to craft next

I crafted Rag and Leeroy, the rest of mine I got in packs, naxx or as a reward. I might craft Sylvanas as I can see that being useful in most decks.

I really should dust my golden cho and get a better legendary, but he is great fun when you just want to arse around

The other thing I really need is the giants, I don't have any of them. I keep waiting for them in packs, but they never arrive

I think I dusted my Nat Pagle, judging that in his post-nerf state that I'd never use him and the dust would be better.

Dusting is so inefficient though really, you get 1/4 of its worth, so you really need to be desperate to get whatever you're looking to craft. It hasn't stopped me doing just that on multiple occasions!

Sylvannas is a big want of mine. For Priest or Warrior it's a fairly easy mind control to kill it yourself and steal whatever tasty minion is on the other side. It's also pretty good against a lone rag on the board.

I crafted one Molten giant the other day, took a lot of disechants and I didn't end up using it. They're all epics so rather expensive and exceedingly rare in regular packs.

Dusting a golden isn't so bad though, as my golden cho is worth 1600, so it will be a straight swap for another legendary.

I don't dust anything else though, unless I already have 2 of them (or 1 if it is a legend). I've got some golden cards waiting to be dusted when I get their normal equivalent filled up! I have a few cards where I have one normal and one golden, which annoys me, but I won't dust the goldens yet, just in case...

OK, here's how you format for rarity;



You have to create the ruleset as above for the first worksheet, and then copy the highlighted row from sheet one, and then highlight the rows in the other worksheets and Paste Special > Formatting to transfer the rule over. No nicer way of doing it afaik.

Depends on your goals. If you ultimately want ALL GOLDEN EVERYTHING YEEAHHAAAA, then dusting anything golden is even more crippling because the cost to remake later is 4 times as bad!

But again, that hasn't stopped me doing that on multiple occasions

7/3 in arena today, that's a bit more like it I almost had him too, if he didn't top deck a charge, that would have been it.

I dragged a horrible Hunter deck to 4/3.

The cards weren't terrible, but no synergy. Offered me a 1/1 wolf first up and then two random animal companions... and then no more animals the entire load. No Hyena, no Buzzard, no UTH. Also gave me some secrets leverage up front and then 1 secret. And kept drawing the same cards and over and over, not once in 7 games giving me the 3 or 4 cards I most wanted. Silly thing.

Have gone for a Mage deck next, seems decent enough despite the lack of Flamestrike, but can't play it until the child goes to bed.

5/3 Arena, worst one for a while. 60 gold, Eaglehorn bow. Pack contained two epics and a rare though, woo!

Speaking of 0/3 Arenas.... yep. Very annoyed, as the draft was pretty good. Just came up against 3 decks that crushed me quickly before I could get any momentum going.

1 pack, 30 gold, and unlocked a golden wisp! Woohoo?

Spotted a relevant reminder on reddit today that there are only 5 days of free first wing of Naxx left.

This means unlock it on Asia and North America too, just because you can. Purchases are region-sepcific and this is just in case you ever want to switch about in future.

I have started playing this, so help me God. Is it addictive or what? Yes. Yes, it is.

So far I am at rank 21 with a mage deck hastily cobbled together by basically taking all the mage cards I had and adding supporting cards in the form of minions with "spell damage +1" and suchlike. Seems to work pretty well, actually.

To elaborate a bit:

The presentation is sublime, obviously, because Blizzard. The rules seem to work very well indeed; they obviously spent a lot of time testing and adjusting to get it right. It is rather simple compared to Magic: The Gathering, though, so I wonder if it will be enough to stay entertaining in the long run, but on the flip-side it doesn't have any of Magic's brokenness rules-wise.

I refuse to spend real money, so if it turns out to be pay-to-win in the better ranks then I will stop playing when I am no longer having fun.

About 45 pages of this thread are me witting on and/or arguing with Hearthly about being free to play. It's certainly possible, although to compete at the higher ranks then there are several key legendaries that it's really good to have and aren't easy to get for free.

I've been playing for free consistently for 9 months and I still need a total of 70 unique cards to complete the collection, 22 of which are legendaries.

I'll echo what I said above - unlock every class quickly by beating it in Normal Practice mode, and then unlock the first free wing of Naxxramas, quickly, as it stops being free in 2 days!

Oh, cheers! I know what I'll be doing for the rest of day, then...

I don't mind making one time payments, btw, if I enjoy the game. It's the never ending buying-cards-for-money I won't be getting into.

It's not taken a huge number of games in Ranked either, most of my play recently has been Casual or Daily Quests (hence I'm sat on 900 gold).

I just had a very annoying Arena, from 4/1 to 4/3 in a blink. As usual came up against a couple of pure bullshit hands that I had no chance against.

Won my next game out in Ranked to continue the winning streak and take me to Rank 9 ***, so if I can win the next two I'll be Rank 8 but somehow I can't see it happening I'll have a crack though, but TBH once I lose one I'll go back to Casual (which is where my play has been today just to do the daily quest and have a dick about with my warrior deck).

Exactly 1000 gold now too!

And there's the loss! Very good game against a warrior, unusual deck as well, not exactly aggro or rush but lots of pressure and weapons. Managed to get the game into a situation where a win was possibly in sight but like a total fucking idiot I put an Explosive Trap down when he had an Armorsmith on the board (d'oh!), then he played another on this turn, and worked with the board to get shitloads of armour off them, putting the win out of reach, and he had a Molten Giant down by then as well.

Real fucking schoolboy error TBH, no idea what I was thinking of.

Either way that's the loss, I'll take the peak of Rank 9 *** this month and consider myself satisfied with that, off to the pub soon anyway

Congrats EBG Having been playing at around that rank myself I can testify that there are no easy games once you get that far up the ladder, so that's quite an achievement! (Fuck knows what kind of commitment it takes to get to legendary.)

I just hit a point where the laser-guided focus of Ranked stops being fun and I'd rather enjoy experimenting with stuff in casual, (in all honesty most of my play this month has been quests and casual), technically speaking there's still an hour until the pub and I'm Rank 9 **, but I'd rather fuck about with my warrior, which is what I think I'll use to have a crack at Ranked next season. Also, I have enough dust to make myself a Grom

It just did this to a zoo lock, now yes this is in Casual but I'd say it was a very 'standard' game, the likes of which you'll find out in Ranked.
