I don't think Activision would be up for the whole 'no guns' thing though. :p
Oh, god. Could you actually imagine the reaction if they did? Wow.

Another trailer - this time for the season pass - it does show off some of the maps and weapons (look Crossbow is back!)

This is getting some promising reviews.

Is it out tomorrow or the 4th, cause I actually want it all of a sudden.

Day Zero is tomorrow think you can get it from pre-orders or digital only then the real release is Tuesday (I think)

I can wait a day. Sounds like a real return to past glories. Mind you, they say that with every new CoD release (well the BLOPS ones), but I fancy getting on board with this.

Is this one not made by Sledge Hammer? Which means no zombies. I'm not getting it.

Pfft, rocket pack thing. Pfft.

Its not Treyarch so not Zombies as we know it however there is some type of zombie mode in the survival stuff (has to be unlocked in some way and the people posting videos and clips of it were having them pulled almost as soon as they went up last week)

However its not 'real' Zombies - that should be next year

Not really seen any reviews of it yet (interesting way to handle that - day 1 embargo and then release a day 0 game) - however the buzz for it seems good

Cheapest PS4 version is still going to be digital via the US store at $60 / £36 - although I suppose the supermarkets may well do the 'buy it plus some Xbox or PSN credit' for cheapness

That's good - I was worried zaphod wouldn't have anyone to play with.

Kotaku seem to like it:

Quote:
Time and time again as I played through Advanced Warfare's story, I found myself marveling over these character's hair. The faces are pretty great, the animations spot-on, but without proper hair they might as well be stick figures.

This is some of the best digital hair I've ever seen, period.

All of them ?

I started this up last night and you get the usual 'you dont really want to start the multiplayer go try the campaign' but ignored that and played maybe 10 matches or so - mostly TDM and it seems good , its fast paced , the boost / jump / dash / slide (yeah slide instead of dive) mechanics are interesting and allow you much more mobility around the map but do also tend to make you very visible and easy to pick off but those kills do not feel like they came out of nowhere which was often the issue with Ghosts.

You can start customizing your character straight away (no wait till level 5 or whatever) so male / female and basic uniforms and you can set your custom icon using the same builder from previous games.

You can also unlock different clothes for your avatar (woo dress up barbie!)

(Not mine but an example you can get Nigerian police pants!)

Image

Lots of customization options for weapons and the unlocks on them are back to the more traditional things like '20 kills to unlock the red dot site' / '20 kills with the red dot to unlock the next thing' / ' 20 headshots to unlock XYZ' and you can mix n match grenades / suit upgrades / whatever for your points in each class.

Looks very pretty , moves well (apart from 1 game which lagged a lot but that was the same for everyone apart from one guy who I guess was host) - it also seems to have changed the start match stuff as even from the 'lobby' going into a match sometimes already has a score (normally a single point or two) but I guess that its connecting and letting people move right from the start rather than the slow black and white fade into colour that we've had in all the previous games.

Also had a very quick try of the co-op mission stuff which looks to be a copy of the one from Ghosts which I did not think much of but will give it at least a bit of time (the one game I played we all died by about round 4)

RPS don't like the campaign. Flash shiny cockring of exosuits fails to counter the grimy y-fronts of typical CoD whack-a-mole gameplay. (Paraphrased, obv)

Wanna watch 15 minutes of me playing call of duty 11 courtesy of the share button? Go on then you scallywags. It's not very fun or interesting but it's a video. Y'know, just like telly but on a computer. Or phone!

I kept mentally pointing out where the enemies were while watching that. And by mentally, I mean like a mentalist.

Fifth biggest UK Call of Duty launch of all time!

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014- ... cod-ghosts

I was almost tempted by this after getting the PS4, as it's a supposed return to form after the last few mediocre outings, but I just can't get down with the whole 'press X to pay tribute to a fallen comrade thing'. I know playing pretend war is pretty reductionist anyway, but it just seemed a step too far.

It is actually not bad , the multiplayer works and the mech stuff helps change things around a little - I've done very little of the campaign (but that seems fairly generic) and the other modes are lacking the aliens modes from Ghost and the mission challenges from MW3 so its a little light but its a good generic shooter.

If Ghosts soured you on the whole thing i'd say give it a go but right now as a new PS4 owner there are a lot of other games for you to concentrate on and you can always pick this up cheaper down the line.

I haven't played one since MW2 was a massive disappointment.

I think it's pretty fun but I haven't played a CoD since BLOPS2. Plus, I'm still pretty good at it which makes it more fun than if I was terrible.

Also: WHOOSH, ZOOM, BOING, BOING, BOIIIIIIIING, WHOOSH, ZOOOOOOOM.

Destiny is the most soul less generic, MMO-RPG-Halo-lite it's possible to get.
As Pundy says, the actually shooty business is pretty good, everything else about it is offensively shallow and bland.

I can't take anything you say about shooters seriously as you said the BF4 launch was anything less than a complete fucking shambles. ;)

I’m playing on a PC with plenty of power so it all runs on high settings and looks and plays very well.

It’s got so big though that loading times are similar to games from years ago. When you start the game you are forced to watch a cut scene whilst the game loads. After this you can then get at the video settings. Make a change and it’s the same cut scene again before you can play. Each time you launch the game it’s the same cut scene\loading before you can start playing.

The other annoying game play element is the leaving the map which if you do starts the game from the last save point. I was playing a map in Nigeria where you are faced with a load of enemies standing on buses in front of you. I managed to get around the back of the bus to shoot a couple a couple of them and this was deemed as off map.

Not a bad game all in all though.

Goddamn, the campaign is boring. So very, very boring.

But pretty? Oh, yes, pretty. So very pretty. But completely hollow. You see that glass bottle on the table? No match for my super-Exo-ability! SMASHY! SMASHY SMASHY SMASHY! Smashy? Oh, it hasn't even flinched. Glass bottles in the future are made of reinforced immoveium. Which I just made up. You can't touch shit. It's like being on a pretty film set. Did I mention it was boring too? Yup. And that.

I always play the campaigns in games before starting the multiplayer. It's ok so far, I guess. Pretty much what I expected. CoD really hasn't changed much in five years.
