You can play porn Blu-Rays on a PS4 and you can visit porn sites on a PS4's web browser.

VR will have to head towards common formats, if it's not going to die in a twisted maze of fragmented experiences; I imagine we'll see some standards emerge, and one of those standards will be for playback of streaming VR video, and the PS4 will most likely support that, and some of that content will definitely be porn.

I'm less convinced. I mean conceptually yeah; if you could offer some proper VR porn experience then it would shift units no doubt. But that's a massive technical challenge* so it's not as if people will actually have a load (or possible even any) of these apps to use as a basis for their adoption decision.

Here’s where things get potentially uncomfortable. You can move in the world with a joypad or by pointing your head at an area of the map and instantly transporting there. If you’re using an HTC Vive you can move around by actually walking but it’s quicker to just direct your cursor and teleport. When people do that to you they pop up right into your vicinity, and it’s super intimidating. Some get really close and you can find yourself in the middle of a huddle. Although it’s not really your body, you feel your personal space being pressed and pushed at. The polite barriers we put up in ‘meatspace’ (as cyberpunk authors used to call the real world), don’t yet exist in the virtual space. I can’t imagine how different that experience will be for a woman, I just know that I found myself stepping away from other avatars on several occasions.

A friend of mine refers to this as "throwing yourself on the gadget grenade" ie. there's something cool but expensive, everyone wants to try it but no-one wants to buy it, eventually someone steps up and says "fine I guess it's my turn."

Thinking of getting one of these to offset my car disappointment.

Should be picking mine up at the weekend, assuming it's delivered to it's intended recipient tonight.

It's a possibility, if I can be bothered to lug everything over and then put it away again at the end of the night.
