Next months PS4 freebie will be "Outlast"

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014- ... ation-plus

Quote:
PS4 survival horror Outlast coming free to PlayStation Plus

Outlast developer Red Barrels made the announcement last night via the game's official Facebook page.

The current PlayStation Plus content includes DmC Devil May Cry and Borderlands 2 for PlayStation 3, Soul Sacrifice and BlazBlue Continuum Shift Extend for PlayStation Vita and acclaimed wilderness survival title Don't Starve for PS4. Not bad.

Eurogamer reviewed Outlast when it launched on PC last autumn and found it a little rough round the edges but still well worth exploring.

"There's little chance to branch off the main path and explore - but that's for the best," Rich McCormick wrote. "Stop and peer too long into Outlast's gloom and you'll see the zips on the monster costumes. Take it at at speed and you'll find a haunted house worth visiting."

Outlast looks reet interesting. 7/10 on Eurospazzyspazfest, but it looks like a nice slice of something different and spooky.

Is that Don't Starve out on PSN now, though? I'm sure I looked last week and it wasn't. It did look a bit crap though.

I've still not played Contrast neither but that didn't seem to be utilising the POWAH of the PS4. It was a smidge ropey from what little I played.

Oh hell, I've almost mentioned them all, so, um, Resogun is still ace. The Fat-Up spaceship is mah main. The homing-missle weedy ship gets smacked down from Stage 3 onwards from my experience.

Next months PS+ stuff

http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2014/01/ ... last-more/

Quote:
PlayStation Plus in February: BioShock Infinite, Metro Last Light, Outlast, more

It’s time for our first PlayStation Plus update of the year! Sit back, relax and let us walk you through the great games that are coming your way in February.
PlayStation 4:

PS4 owners, make sure you pick up the simply terrifying Outlast from the team at Red Barrels*, from 5th February.

You’ll take on the role of independent journalist Miles Upshur. Acting on a tip from an inside source, you break into Mount Massive Asylum, an abandoned home for the mentally ill in the mountains of Colorado, hiding shocking, unnatural secrets. Once inside, your only hope of escape lies with uncovering the horrifying truth at the heart of Mount Massive. Will you make it out alive?

PlayStation 3:

If Outlast wasn’t scary enough for you then why not immerse yourself in the haunting, desolate ruins of post-apocalyptic Moscow in Deep Silver‘s terrifyingly adventure Metro: Last Light.

Picking up from the cataclysmic events of Metro 2033, returning hero Artyom is now a Ranger, and D6, the secret underground vault discovered at the tail end of the last game, is your new ‘safe’ haven. Chock full of food and supplies it’s become the Metro system’s most coveted station city. Unfortunately for you, that also means you’re now squarely in the crosshairs of the underground’s more hostile inhabitants…

Next up, the winner of over 85 awards – BioShock Infinite!

You assume the role of former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt, sent to the flying city of Columbia on a rescue mission. His target? Elizabeth, imprisoned since childhood. During their daring escape, Booker and Elizabeth form a powerful bond – one that lets Booker augment his own abilities with her world-altering control over the environment. Together, they fight from high-speed Sky-Lines, in the streets and houses of Columbia, on giant zeppelins, and in the clouds, all while learning to harness an expanding arsenal of weapons and abilities.

PS Vita

First up on PS Vita this month is Tecmo Koei‘s cult favourite Dynasty Warriors Next, which sees you doing battle with hoards of enemy troops in a breathless action game.

Our final offering this month comes in the form of ModNation Racers: Road Trip where racing comes to life with a library of over 500,000 tracks available online combined with an extensive customisation and level editor system. You won’t fail to have a great time playing this little gem of a game.

Yo! Any chance we can rename this thread, like, PS Plus or The PS Plus Thread-o or PEE ESS PLUSSSSS, nah that's rubbish and wouldn't solve the search problem, what about "PS Plus"?

That'd be great, like.

Rumour for this month.

Quote:
According to the rumours, PS4 owners will be getting the PS4 version of Dead Nation, a top-down shooter that was released to critical acclaim on PS3.

PS3 subscribers will get Tomb Raider (an odd decision, considering the PS4 version just came out) and the bloody great Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons.

Finally, Vita owners will receive puzzle game Smart As… and tower defence game Pixel Junk Monsters Ultimate HD.

I think if I had PS Plus I would never have to buy a game again.

Obviously, I'd have to buy a Sony gaming product first, but still. Ridiculously good value.

:boots:

Your missing the context which is in some of the other threads - Saturnalian couldnt find the PS Plus thread (this one) so posted the current sale in one of the other threads saying he couldnt find it - Myp found it and then Saturnalian blamed you for causing the confusion

EARTH DEFENSE FORCE® 2017 PORTABLE
Was £23.99/€29.99/AU$43.95, now £5.49/€6.99/AU$10.35
Additional 10% discount for PS Plus members

So a fiver for portable EDF! , has anyone played it and how does it hold up on the Vita ?

Any new Vita players who want a decent FPS

Killzone Mercenary
Was £29.99/€34.99/$47.95, now £14.99/€19.99/AU$24.95
Additional 10% for PS Plus members

Is great

And I'm also considering

Quote:
New Little King’s Story
Was £34.99/€39.99/AU$54.95, now £6.99/€9.99/AU$14.95
Additional 10% discount for PS Plus members

OlliOlli
Was £7.99/€9.99/AU$14.45, now £3.19/€3.99/AU$5.85
Additional 20% discount for PS Plus members

I did not play much of little kings story on the Wii but remember it was not bad - and OlliOlli has been on my 'interested in' list for a while (and who can argue at £2.87)

Possibly , I've only had PS+ since around July last year so must have missed out on that - there are plenty of other titles to choose from :-)

Worth noting that if you've not been buying the PS4 games via a website you should be. That looks like 2 games I want to play that I will have now. Well done on making buying a PS4 inevitable Sony.

Talking of the other, MercKings is becoming a cross-play title when it launches on Vita. So I'll have it for that too.

2 games per platform from June onwards

http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2014/05/ ... xeljunk-2/

Quote:
PlayStation Plus in June: NBA 2K14, Trine 2, Dragon’s Crown, Pixeljunk, more

Lone Survivor and Surge Deluxe also join the service next week

ext month, PlayStation Plus will reach its 4th anniversary. It’s evolved a great deal since its inception, providing our PS Plus members with exclusive discounts, beta access and even select games early, as well as, of course, great games to play through our Instant Game Collection. As our members have grown with us from our introduction on PS3, PS Vita and now PS4, together we’ve built a really strong global community of gamers.

PlayStation Plus has been an essential part of PlayStation 4, providing access to next-gen online multiplayer and a steady stream of great games including Resogun, Outlast and Don’t Starve. Since we are always looking to continue the evolution of PS Plus as a service that really serves our community, we are excited to provide a more balanced set of games each month within the Instant Game Collection. As you’ll see below, starting in June, members will now have access to two titles per month for each of our platforms.

Since we’ve seen how excited many of you are to download Instant Game Collection titles as soon as they’re available, we’ve decided to adjust the length of time each title will be available. Starting in July, every title in the Instant Game Collection will be available the first Wednesday of the month, and will be free for that month, until the first Wednesday of the following month.

In the coming weeks, you’ll see that several of the titles that have had a nice, long stint in the Instant Game Collection will be phased out, so if you’re new to the service and haven’t had a chance to download all of the titles available through PS Plus — or if you’ve been thinking about subscribing but haven’t yet — now is the perfect time to get all the great games available with PS Plus.

Anyway, without further ado, read on to find out what’s coming to the service next month.
New on PlayStation 4:

First up this month on PS4 comes a real gem from the incredible development teams at Q-Games and Double 11. Pixeljunk Shooter Ultimate is a twin stick shooter that is as much about blasting things as it is about exploration and puzzle-solving.

Pixeljunk Shooter Ultimate combines the campaigns of Shooter 1 and 2 into a single package with new features and optimisations. It’s a highly addictive game and with a platinum trophy to collect I’m certain this will keep you entertained throughout June.

Next up this month on PS4, let your imagination run wild in a beautiful fairy-tale land, avoiding danger at every turn as you solve mysterious puzzles in the award-winning Trine 2: The Complete Story. Don’t forget, you can take advantage of co-op multiplayer for up to three players in this epic adventure so grab your friends and get online.

Trine 2
New on PlayStation 3:

First up on PS3 this month, NBA 2K14 slam dunks its way onto PlayStation Plus. IGN believe this to be the best basketball simulator ever giving it a whopping 8.9 out of 10 and I won’t disagree! To ensure you make the most of your game, get online and face off against rival squads.

NBA

Next up on PS3 is the Cross-Buy psychological survival horror Lone Survivor (Director’s Cut). You play as a masked protagonist who must escape from a city ravaged by disease. Starving and exhausted, you begin to question how much of what you see is even real.

The choice of how to survive is up to you. Sneak through without firing a single shot, or kill everything in your path. Search for survivors, or try to escape the city alone. Look after your mental health, or descend into madness…

New on PS Vita

Dragon’s Crown is your first offering this month on PS Vita. Be prepared to be thrust into a fantastical medieval world packed with labyrinthine dungeons to explore, vile monstrosities to smite, and nearly endless online adventure. Your mission is to dive into the dank underworld, uncovering treasure and strengthening your mettle as you unlock the secret behind the ancient dragon threatening the world.

Last but certainly not least make sure you pick up the electrifying Surge Deluxe from the team at Futurlab. This is a highly addictive block matching puzzle game where you need to be lightning fast to compete!

Expanded from the original release of Surge, this Deluxe version adds in a new Combiner block for higher multiplayers in strategic play and a new Chain Linker block for longer chain connections! Trust us – this one is very hard to put down.

Very odd, the Vita happily downloaded the two new games today, but the PS4 says no (DNS error or something like that).

Did you get the new firmware update ?

Mine refused to connect to the store until it had installed (1.71)

Yep, I already had 1.71 installed. The problem seems to have gone away of its own accord since around midday. Trine 2 is done and Pixeljunk Shooter is well on the way.

I am cancelling when my sub runs out. I've got about four games in my PS+ backlog to get through and then I'm done as I'm not getting value for money any longer. One crappy 3DS Lego port a month is not helping either.

Me too. I haven't had time to play any of it anyway, and most of the ones I have in my backlog are available for next to nothing on PC, indeed I already have many of them through various bundles.

So I've been playing Crysis 3 off and on since it was on PS+ (and now it's off).

It's been billed as a mix of the best of Crysis and Crysis 2. Turns out that the best bits of Crysis were the bits with the monsters taut everyone hated and the best bits of Crysis 2 were the linear corridor environments that everyone hated.

But hey, it's also got the other best bits of Crysis - the vehicles (actually they were a pretty good edition)! And they've been crammed into the best bits of Crysis 2 - the linear corridor! YES! And they know that we loved those vehicles to create EMERGENT GAMEPLAY (registered TM of The Industry) so why not shove those vehicle sections into two very short corridors so that they are a near completely useless edition.

Nah, it's a mess this. I don't like it. It's just Crysis 2 again and that weren't a patch on Crysis. And the story is garbage.

Still, I might as well finish it cause, y'know, the 52 Challenge.
