I'm going to get it.

I hope you're all happy now. You bastards.

Completely different game. I have The Crew but it didn't stop me getting this.

Good. You should join the original and best BEEX racing club.

We're full with the inclusion of Gaywood anyway.

I don't think this many of us were playing the same game since the glory days of Xbox Live.

This is what happened early last-gen as there is a paucity of options. Sadly the community fragments as more and more games get released and people go in their own directions.

I'd agree with that when it comes to shooters as there are so many but genuinely decent racing games are generally few and far between. Forza 2, 3 and 4 all had a decent amount of people playing.

Yeah, I guess it didn't help that MS managed to completely ruin the 360 experience for the last couple of years.

And for those still undecided the game is still £20 on PSN but you can use the special code for this weekend and knock another 10% off

I have hardly played this but it is one of those games that looks so much better than everything else

Popped home early today, just in time to casually beat a few of the Beex challenge times ;)

That twin'run concept is a spin happy little beast, isn't it!

Annoyingly, you can't do a challenge if you don't have the car unlocked, so I can't do the Alfa 4C one yet.

I'm not so sure, I seem to be online fine on PSN, just the driveclub server isn't up. It's only happened a couple of times though.

Yeah, I've also had it on time trials where the ghost cars only show up half way round or been in the menus and all the panels with content from the network are empty for a long time. Pretty sure it's still flaky, also on Twitter they post quite a bit about server maintenance.

Had my first proper go at this yesterday. Loving the handling but I'm not convinced it's prettier than FH2 so far. The car models are good, probably better, but the environments seem less detailed.

I like the leaderboards - made me do the second race a couple of times to better my times.

The feeling of speed in a Mini Cooper is pretty impressive so I dread to think how shit scary the super cars are.

How do I join one of these here BeeX car clubs then?

All the pretty gifs on this page are lovely, but they don't half fuck up the loading speed. Any chance we can amend them to links off site?

To join a car club you need an invite from the owner. I'm afraid the best Beex club is full, but I think the second string club has a slot left.

I think you meant to say "the original and best" club rather than "second string". All the real men are in Beex Softer.

Things I like about this game:

It give you lots of good cars to play with on the regular.
No pissing about, straight in and choose a race and play it.
Races are short and sharp.
The handling is pretty good, the right mix of arcade and sim.
It looks pretty.
Leaderboards
Challenge system is pretty good.
I'm pretty reasonable at it, which makes a change.
The multiplayer events are good, makes you play different stuff than you usually would.

Things I don't like about this game:
The AI is hopeless. It would be nice if they even made an attempt to recognise you are there. Makes car choice unoptimal, as something big and heavy with a high top speed is the way to go in most cases, otherwise you'll just get knocked out the way.
The challenges are good, but it could be a lot slicker in issuing them and accepting them. If i'm issuing a challenge, I'd like to know how high on the leaderboard I was. If i'm in the middle of a series, I can issue a challenge for that individual race, but it doesn't show how good a time it was. Why can't I just have a screen with all the challenges available to me? Why do I have to check both club and solo?
The online is still flaky, takes ages to update, and occasionally never connects.
The sound effects are pretty awful, especially the tyre noise.

A solid 7.6594/10

I know what you mean about the AI, although I prefer something that'll corner quicker as you can usually find a gap and hurtle past them all then the rubber banding seems to let you have a couple of mistakes of a gap.

I think the handling is genius to be honest, you can pick the game up, bump your way round, be reasonable successful and have fun. Then once you start wringing it out it really comes alive, the feeling of being on a knife edge managing understeer and oversteer as you try to hit those apexes is just as present and correct as it is in games that bill themselves as more of a simulation.

I did amuse me that they recognise that barging your way through is often the optimum tactic, so put in a event where you have to do just that! :D (The Bentley event on the short track)

Nope, so if you were planning to accept, you've missed out!

You'll have to start "Beex with a vengeance" :)

The comparisons to PGR put me off (which I found not much fun). Plus the wheel situation on the ps4.

If the space was being reserved, there would've been a slim chance to reconsider, but probably would've gone for the "Free it up for someone else" option.

It's only like PGR in the way it's an arcade/sim crossover (like Forza Horizon). The tracks are much, much better and it's not anywhere near as focused on Kudos. You can skip the drift events entirely if you wish.

I like it a lot.

Played some more of this last night and joined the club. There's a lot of straights isn't there?

I'm not actually sure how much I like it but I somehow managed to play it for a couple of hours straight trying to chip away at times / challenges / getting medals so it's certainly has something that keeps you coming back for more.

Also those courses where the sun is in your eyes are terrifying and almost annoying but then the terror makes it worth the effort.

Once you get to the faster cars they seem a lot shorter and a lot less straight.

Main tour done, I suspect i'll do the free DLC too, not sure if i'm going to bother going for all the stars. Some of them only seem possible with the high level reward cars, I guess i'll see what level I get to playing the DLC.

The AI in the higher class cars is a total cunt at times. Barrelling down a straight at nigh on 200mph, and you can almost guarantee that if you are anywhere near an AI driver, they will give you a nudge, if not just drive straight into you, which at those speeds can be tricky to deal with.
If you give up trying to drive clean and just drive through them then it makes the game a bit easier, but doesn't seem as sporting.

I drove a car just a minute ago. I went to the petrol station to get some fags. It was mainly all straights. Apart from two right turns, fortunately I was awake, which I wouldn't be if I was playing any driving game that wasn't Burnout.

Ruining your fun am I? Pow. In your collective faces.
