Forza Horizon 2 was developed by a different team to FH2 on 360. It certainly looks the business.

Sunset Overdrive is XboxOne exclusive as well. I have that but haven't tried it yet.

Had an email from MS this morning, Xbox One now shipping with 1TB drive, for £349 with free shipping. They also give you 12 months of EA access and a "free" Windows 10 upgrade which they are giving to people anyway :)

The range in prices for these still seems odd , if you have the current ebay 'offer' code (20% off) you can get a new Xbox (500gb) for £199 and it will happily run media from an external drive

So why would you pay another £150 for another 500gb of space !

(Shopto's ebay store has the basic Xbox One for £249 and with the 20% off it drops under £200)

Just looked at the offer in detail and there is no Kinect included!

Well, no; they essentially dropped the Kinect ages ago.

By which I mean they dropped it from the console packages, you can still buy it separately obviously.

I think some of the bundles still come with it - but if you really wanted one CEX sell them

Xbox one with Kinect (£336)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Xbox-One-Consol ... one+kinect

Same Xbox one without (£279)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Xbox-One-Consol ... one+kinect

Kinect from CEX (£38)
https://uk.webuy.com/product.php?sku=SX ... bIUw_nzOQU

So again if you really really wanted a kinect i'd buy one without and then pick up a kinect from somewhere 2nd hand (Amazon sell them for £40 if you wanted to avoid CEX)

Although they also aren't making games that actually use it any more either.

The voice integration still works though doesn't it? I use that quite a lot with the 360.

Mate of mine who has an XBone swears by the Kinect, he says the voice control and face recognition and what have you is really good, to the extent he can't imagine not having his connected to the console.

Yeah the OS stuff is one thing, but they are never going to focus on making games/features for their games that a large chunk of the audience can't buy/use.

Have we all seen the new Xbox One elite? It boasts a 1TB SSD in the press release.

Reading further, it seems that "a portion" of the drive is an SSD. Still... That's the one for me I reckon.

It also comes with the elite controller which looks pretty neat.

It'll be a hybrid drive by the sounds of it, whereby it has maybe 32GB of SSD storage where it caches the most used stuff and tries to pre-load intelligently, and the rest of the drive is just a normal hard drive.

They can be very effective, but obviously have limitations too.

It's a hybrid so will boot up faster and that's about it. I bet it's a 128GB solid state with the rest being a normal HDD.

Well I'm not going to rake over all that again, save to say he was far more unpleasant towards me than I ever was towards him. He even saw fit to take a personal dig at my wife at one point, which was a classy move.

I have the book of that. People that stay in my big spare room can read it, as it's on the shelf above their bed.

Jim Davis did a section of G-G comics at the back of the book, which I thought was pretty cool of him.

Mate of mine has just got himself one of those new Elite controllers that cost £120, and says it's absolute pure sex.

I mean, a gamepad costing ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY POUNDS needs to be, really, but they do look like a seriously gorgeous bit of kit.

My old wired 360 pad that I use on my PC is getting rather 'end of life' (lots of MAME! Thumbsticks are grinding a bit) so I might invest in one myself, apparently it comes with a really nice braided USB cable so I'd just use it as a wired pad probably.

Aye it's a fair wedge of cash for a gamepad, but then again you'd expect to get hundreds of hours of use out of it.

The normal 360 pads definitely wear out in time, whereas this thing is supposed to be borderline indestructible.

MS are pushing out Windows 10 look and feel to Xbox One on 12th November.

Also will play 100 or more 360 games with more to follow

He had it on some sort of preorder from MS I believe.

Amusingly, he doesn't even play on his XBox that much (too much disposable income....), but my other chum here who is mega into Destiny at the moment offered to give him ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY POUNDS for it, so desperate is he to get one and they're not on sale anywhere.

Chum #1 has sold it to him for £120, as he felt it would be unfair to take the £140.

But yeah, Chum #2 really did offer to give him £140, for a gamepad.

To be honest this makes a lot more sense than some of the completely useless and irrelevant tat that gets peddled to people in other hobbies. I've seen bicycle riders talking about special fucking seat posts or golfers buying £200 putters. It's not for me as I don't play games enough but spending a bit on a controller if it feels nicer than a normal one doesn't seem so insane in that context.

Some seatposts are better than others. You have to consider the material it is made from, how it attaches the saddle, the amount of throwback and range of adjustment of saddle position. Then you have hydraulic dropped seat posts to raise and lower the saddle from a switch on the bars and all sorts.

If spending money on a control pad is fine for an avid gamer, I don't understand why doing the same on a putter is different for a golfer.

I was simply saying that it doesn't seem a particularly amazing amount of money for someone to spend on their hobby when it's something that might actually make a difference to the experience even if only a slight one, in a way that a carbon fibre seat post or equally expensive putter probably won't even.

£200 is nothing for a putter if you're massively into golf. It's the club that gets the ball into the hole after all!

I agree with the general point, I suppose I just don't think a golf club is a very good example because to me that seems like something which could make a difference to your performance and is genuinely worth spending decent money on.

MarkG should have gone with audiophiles rather than golf clubs, I think.

If by "improve" you mean "be more comfortable", yes, of course. If I sold you a £5 that was covered in raxor blades you'd probably not be happy.

I was simply saying that it doesn't seem a particularly amazing amount of money for someone to spend on their hobby when it's something that might actually make a difference to the experience even if only a slight one, in a way that a carbon fibre seat post or equally expensive putter probably won't even.

I agree with the general point, I suppose I just don't think a golf club is a very good example because to me that seems like something which could make a difference to your performance and is genuinely worth spending decent money on.

But a good pad could improve your video gaming, right?

Well, yeah; I don't think I've claimed otherwise have I?

Does that not make a golf club a good example, then?
