I'm just saying Stealth 2 has had no interest in here when it's really quite fab. And I don't even like puzzle games, for the most part.

I'm interested in it, I loved the first one and picked the second one up for free somehow on Steam. Though fuck knows when I'll get round the playing it.

The second one was given away free on PC via the Humble store at some point.

@pudabaya. ... it's exactly what i wanted to be.. not that expensive, quite relaxing, and that rez like feeling you are part of creating the experience, not just experiencing it yourself..

not sure about the default control setup though, not exactly sure what would be better... but i don't like it that lef, middle are the same kind of key and that right is a trigger..., and that middle/right should be done by the same finger..

oh and bloodborne is half price now so i bought it

There just isn't enough groove. It says something that the song I like the most is a remix of one from the original Amplitude. None of the others give me that 'zone' feeling.

If it turns out to be really good then I'd be tempted to bite at that sort of price.

Mm, and that is without 'move controllers and camera" , Move controllers essential for interacting with it?

I've already got those but yeah I think a lot of the games will be designed around that control scheme, not sure if e.g. a racing game would work without them.

Yes. VS £600 for a Oculus and a £1000 anchor to power it.

Viva Sony ! I think I will be buying a PS4 very shortly...

At that price point I'll pick one up just on general principle. Even if there's only ever a handful of games that support it/are any good I'm happy to pay £250 for the experience. Hell, I could take it into work and make the money back in minutes just charging people for a shot. :DD

I will admit my password management is crap, but I'm not aware of anything else being hacked that I have a password for.

I'll see what their next response is, but I can't really be bothered to push too hard as I doubt I'll get the money back (although it's not like I can spend it with anyone other than them), and to be honest the whole process has been a lot more stressful since I contacted Sony.
I'm pretty sure that's not how this sort of thing is meant to work, but hey.

Well, over two weeks with no response and I'd already given up, and then I suddenly get another email telling me they've given me my money back. I'm going to spend it quick before someone else does. :p

I can't complain about the outcome, but it's still a pretty shoddy process.

Also: presumably this means they'll be releasing official drivers for the DualShock 4 because you'll need a controller connected to your PC/Mac for that to work.

It works natively on the Mac.

"The touchpad, rumble, led control, and gyros are not supported by Mac OS X by default."
There was no driver as of mid-2015.

Arguably, up until now, it doesn't matter whether there's support for the proprietary features of the DualShock (i.e. the touchpad and LED) because there will be literally zero games that try to use them. I know you can get the pad working with relatively trivial setup on Windows but the barrier has always been the fact that any on-screen prompts in games are always for the Xbox button layout so you might as well just use that.

Salt and Sanctuary is released today.

It's noteworthy because:

It's by the Dishwasher guys.

It's from the Dishwasher 2 guys. I can't remember what it was called, mind. It was reet good. Something about Vampires.

It's Dark Souls inspired. So inspired that it pretty much nicks a load of stuff from it. There's a few of these Dark Souls inspired side scrollers but this is the first to get released.

But, Sat, I hear you ask, is it any good? Let's watch this trailer for it first.

So, is it any good Sat, you repeat? You've not played it have you, you say accusingly. Did you see those bosses characters, I retort. Oh fuck off you tired old cunt, you mouth, and get some pants on too, before slamming the door leaving me standing with the breeze from an open window bellowing beneath my undercarriage flapping my genitals around like a plastic bag caught on the edge of a branch.

Holy crap, there's taking inspiration and straight wholesale plagiarism and this treads a very, very fine line. This "is" a 2D Dark Souls game.

Fat rolling.
Staggering.
Weight limits.
Estus flasks.
Weapon buffs.
Strong/weak attack.
Two handing weapons.
Levels with short cuts that loop back on themselves.
Christ almighty, it's almost the exact same thing.

But in 2D.

So it kinda gets away with it because it looks so different but seemingly pinches all the mechanics and rolls it up with the Dishwasher art style. I'm really confused about this. I like it, I think. I might like it a lot. Maybe.

It really needs a Mr Dave to come and have a look at it.

Are Move controllers required for PS VR? There seems to be no mention of them during any of the articles I've read which I find a bit weird because if they're required, or even encouraged, that's another cost that needs to be factored in.

It varies on a game by game basis.

Some things only use the headset, some use the standard controller, some use Move, some let you pick between Move and standard controller.

I think not including a Move is a mistake.

The Vive stuff I've seen has also massively impressed me. Although it'll obviously come down to the games, I think the Vive definitely has the potential to be the most impressive of the available platforms. It's just a little bit too rich for my blood is all. Selfishly I hope that the Sony effort will attract a large install base due to its lower barrier to entry; and that'll draw lots of developers and worthwhile games.

Speculatively pre-ordered. It's Amazon, so they don't charge until dispatch and I can cancel later.

I already have some Move controllers but I'll need a camera if this goes ahead.

I'm very tempted to pre-order but if I don't then the absolute worst case scenario is that there's a temporary shortage of them and I need to wait a bit longer to buy one; which lets me find out for sure if they're actually worthwhile via the medium of every else's money. I'm surprisingly alright with that.

Amazon pre-orders sold out in the first 10 minutes and Game want a £100 deposit

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2016- ... re-at-game

Quote:
GAME shops want £100 deposit for PlayStation VR pre-order

UPDATE 11.55am: PlayStation VR pre-orders are back on at Amazon UK - but now without the previous 1st October release date.

This suggests this is a second batch of stock, rather than the retailer's launch allocation. There's no guarantee you'll get one at the device's launch, although you can still put your order in now and get in the queue.

UPDATE 11.10am: Amazon UK has sold out of its PlayStation VR launch allocation in less than 10 minutes.

The retailer had limited purchases to just one per customer.

Still, there's always GAME.

ORIGINAL STORY 11.10am: You can now pre-order a PlayStation VR in-store at GAME - but only if you hand over a £100 deposit.
1

Eurogamer spoke to GAME shop staff who explained the deposit was necessary due to limited amount of stock.

There's no upfront charge for ordering the £349 headset via GAME's website - just for ordering one in the chain's bricks and mortar shops.

GAME's site is also offering a bundle option which includes a PlayStation Camera - which you'll need if you don't have one already. This option is £40 more expensive, at £389.

Hopefully GAME's website will behave itself this time - and doesn't delay orders or take payment for them multiple times.

Elsewhere online, pre-orders are also up at ShopTo, which also has a Camera bundle option.

Amazon is now taking pre-orders, limited to one per customer. Here's Amazon's note:

Due to limited stock we are only able to offer one unit per customer per address. The first orders will be eligible for release date delivery and this will be confirmed by email once the manufacturer confirms release date.
If your order does not qualify for release date deliver, you will be notified of an expected delivery date closer to the time. This product comes with a UK plug and therefore may not be suitable for use outside of the UK.
