Worth pointing out that for new releases this is still pretty much the cheapest way - buy $60 of PSN credit from Amazon.com and buy the game digitally from the US PSN store - anything new works out at ~£37 even without discounts

Although I'd always be wary of building up a huge library on something you are effectively breaking T&Cs on.

Yeah, I'm doing it for this one game and anything else I can't get on the EU store.

Not a problem for me, but how did you get around this on amazon.com?

You add a US address to your Amazon account (Borderlinx).

Which T&C are you breaking by doing this ?

US T&C

http://www.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com ... f-service/

The ones I think you could argue over

Section 1 paragraph 2

Quote:
All information provided during account registration must be truthful and accurate. SNEI reserves the right to cancel any SEN Account that uses or that was created using untruthful or inaccurate information.

The request is for an address (which I have supplied) which is a valid address for me (which Borderlinx is you could mail me at that address and I will get it - it does not ask for 'residence')

Section 3 point 15

Quote:
You may not provide SNEI or any third party company with false or inaccurate information, including reporting false complaints to our or our affiliates' consumer services or providing false or inaccurate information during account registration.

Again - I have supplied a valid address where I may be contacted

I dont see anything else in the T&C which I would be violating by buying US content.

(I realize that yes they could start region locking things and it may cause me problems , or specifically close up the loophole which exists right now but I dont see any reason they would)

I got some of those headphones. They are pretty great from a quick test.

In other news, Pure Pool is an almost Photorealistic Archer Macleans Pool and I love it. I just wish the Balls occasionally pulled faces.

For the headphones make sure you download the app for them and then you can upload configs

Pure pool sounds cool - £7.99 right now https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork. ... 300024_exc

I got it for £3.99 in the sale, which was a bargain.

It has separate US 8 ball and 9 ball campaigns, and allows you to play AI and multiplayer UK 8 Ball and killer matches (but no campaign). It also has pot-as-many-in-a-row mode; clear a table as fast as you can mode.

You can play people online or their 'DNA' which is an AI version of them based on how they play.

It was perfect for being hung over on Jan 1st.

I'm game (it's about as good as pool on a console could be - I really like the idea of using the right stick as a cue). I don't have a headset, but Lave did point out to me that there's a Playstation app on the ipad for chat, which is much better than trying to send messages with the controller.

I thought it was probably time to build a list of the PS4 games I don't already own that I'm actually interested in. Using the Metacritic and Wikipedia lists I came up with the following:

  • Counterspy
  • Escape Plan
  • Game of Thrones
  • Hohokum
  • LittleBigPlanet 3
  • Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes
  • Never Alone
  • Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty!
  • Shadow Warrior
  • Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments
  • Styx: Master of Shadows
  • Tales from the Borderlands: Episode One
  • Thief

Bearing in mind that I'm only interested in stuff that's actually been released--and that I already own Far Cry 4, GTAV, Wolfenstein, Shadow of Mordor and the Lara Croft twin stick shooter game--am I missing out on anything here?

Is it a flat-out shit game, or is it just impacted by the conversion from the Vita to the PS4 in terms of controls?

You're missing The Last Of Us Remastered, given how much you enjoyed it in its not so remastered form.

Also, if you have any kind of local multiplayer gameness and enough pads to support it, Sportsfriends is a must for Poleriders and Johann Sebastian Joust.

I know I'm late to the party, but The Last of Us Remastered (disclosure - I never played the PS3 iteration and kept well away from any information on it, as I knew I would play it one day) is truly exceptional.

There was always a hesitance towards buying a PS4 as I feared it could gather dust (even after buying GTAV on the 360 I only played it for a week and didn't turn the console on for a full year after), but I've certainly got my gaming mojo back thanks to this beauty.

They could work on the collision detection for Ellie and walls a bit though.

Difficult to tell, as I'm not sure what you've avoided from last-gen or what you've played on the PC either.

Here's the list of things I've enjoyed so far on PS4 or that's available and I've already played on a different platform:

Peggle 2
The Walking Dead Season 2
P.T.
OlliOlli
Fez
Thomas Was Alone
Resogun
Pro Evo 2015
Hotline Miami
Octodad: Dadliest Catch
Trials Fusion
Surgeon Simulator: Anniversary Edition
Lone Survivor
Super Mega Baseball (US account required)
The Crew
CoD: Advanced Warfare
Plants v Zombies: Garden Warfare
Rogue Legacy

I've got the following to start that I'm interested in:
LittleBigPlanet 3
Destiny
The Swapper
Nidhogg
inFAMOUS First Light
Race the Sun
Geometry Wars 3
Pure Pool
Valiant Hearts: The Great War
Velocity 2X

Yeah, I realised after posting that question that it would be slightly difficult to answer. All the stuff you've mentioned there I've either played on another platform or I'm not interested in so it looks like I'm covered here.

Different powers ?

So far (i'm on the 3rd master) I'd say if you enjoyed the first one and wanted more then go for it (especially since its under £4)

If you got sick of the first one then there is not really anything 'new' on here to say you must have it

Ground Zeroes is so good it made me reevaluate the entire MGS series, which I never really got on with in the past.

Shadow Warrior is a great trashy FPS, although I played it on PC. I assume it's good on PS4 too.

Hohokum is lovely.

Bit OTT. That ending though? Typical MGS trash.

Ground Zeros is quite good for what it is but needs more indoor bits otherwise the buildings are just flat boxes to break up the lines of sight. I quite enjoy the MGS series for what it is - a convoluted series stuck up its own arsehole and repeatedly being shoved further and further up there. I thought that Zeros was a nice attempt at trying to peel back some of the bullshit but, y'know, Kojima...

It can't be understated what a difference competent controls and pacing where the story doesn't get in the way of playing the game makes.

I have one of these now.

Currently I only have GTA5 and Minecraft (plus the freebie PS+ stuff) but will be looking to pick up Resogun and Geometry Wars 3 in due course.

So far I have been most amazed by the light in the controller flashing blue and red when the police turned up on GTA5 and the phone calls coming out of the controller. Such simple things but it made me giggle with delight like that baby with the ripping paper off of youtube.

Where was that thread that had everyone's gamertags / PSN names etc?

I'm Trousermang on there.

So I could have just searched for "Gamertags" which is the term I actually wrote in the post?

Sometimes I amaze even myself.

Thank you for doing what I was clearly too fucking stupid/lazy to do myself. I shall add those people laters - anyone not on there add me if you want. Or not.
