Could be , there are electric traps / fan traps / acid traps etc in various maps for COD Zombies which is what made me think of that - also I do think that Zombies in WaW / BLOPS / BLOPS2 gives the games a bit more longevity than the missions in MW2 / MW3

I would quite happily go and play a game of WaW Nacht or BLOPS Five , but would never think to go back and do the timed juggernaugt mission in MW3

Their take on a Zombies / Hoard mode - not a lot of actual gameplay vs cutscene but reminds me more of Gears than Zombies

Now that looks like a lot of fun.
I preferred the spec-ops horde style mode in MW3 to the larger zombies maps.

Given the dearth of launch games for the PS4, I could be tempted by this should there be enough Bezziage. I haven't paid attention to CoD games since MW2 - is this likely to be a good game or not?

Depends if you liked MW2, because I doubt it will be much different.

It was ok, but after playing CoD2, 3, MW and MW2 I'd had enough at the time.

So is this a futuristic aliens CoD then? Sort of CoD meets Halo? I've paid no interest in it up until now.

No , this is one mode in Ghosts - in the same way Zombies was one mode in BLOPS or the 'mission' stuff you could do in MW2 or MW3 to earn stars

One way to look at it is that BLOPS2 was 3 games in one

Game 1 : Single player campaign with a character you can gain XP with and level up weapons / equipment and skills
Game 2 : Multiplayer online (or offline against bots) - team death match / CTF / Domination etc
Game 3 : Zombies - up to 4 player hoard mode against zombies

From what we have seen this is basically the same for Ghosts just replace Zombies mode with Aliens

I heard an advert for the on the radio this morning (I think it was for Midnight-opening Tesco stores), and it said it was for sale only to people 16 and over. I had a look to see why this was and found that the PEGI rating system has taken over as the official guide to sale age rating from the BBFC.

Not that it's going to trouble anyone that posts here. Well, maybe Nickachu.

Get a phone cover with a picture of your wife on it, tell people you miss her when she is away. This is part of THE PLAN

So, I am totally buying this and resubbing to Gold for a bit.

Any decent deals on either the game or Gold?

Tesco have done COD for £25 when you buy either points or a Live sub for the last few versions but they haven't announced anything at all this year....

Last year it was £30 or £32 with a card - Sainsburys often do the same.

I've not seen anything announced for it yet (worth checking back on the various deals sites later today when the stuff actually is in the shops the deals will leak) but right now Sainsburys are doing BF4 or AC4 for £32 if you buy a 2100 points card or a £25 PSN card (its £45 without) I'd expect them to do COD for the same deal.

I'm sure it was £25 plus the card at Tesco last year. I've been keeping an eye on Hot UK Deals anyway.

Last year I pre-ordered it from Sainsburys and got it delivered on day of release I think for about £33 or £32

I think I ended up buying three sets last year when the Nuketown code was selling for nearly £20 a go, then traded two copies of the game in with a CEX Price match, sold a bit of the XBox Points and two Nuketown codes.

I'm pretty sure I spent £136 on three copies of the game plus credit and by the time I'd finished I'd ended up with the game and £25 PSN for nothing.

Quote:
Call of Duty: Ghosts - price roundup, where's cheapest?

The big hits just keep coming this time of year and tonight it’s the turn of Call of Duty: Ghosts, which arrives worldwide at midnight.

Although it will have to perform far beyond expectations to topple Grand Theft Auto V’s record-breaking 2013 performance, Ghosts will undoubtedly be one of the year’s best-sellers.

However, past form in recent times points away from a fierce price battle on the High Street. According to a round-up from Videogamer, Sainsbury’s seems to have the lowest price (with conditions attached) although Tesco has yet to reveal its hand.

Here’s what we know so far (all prices are for the Standard Xbox 360 and PS3 versions):

Sainsbury's – £42.99 (or £32.99 when you spend £30+ in-store)
Tesco: £TBC
Asda: £39.97
GAME: £44.99
Argos: £43.99

And some online prices:

Amazon: £39.97
GAME: £44.99
GameStop: £42.97 (£7.97 when two applicable games are traded)
ShopTo: £39.85
Green Man Gaming: £37.99
Simply Games: £42.85

Because people queue up in long lines to buy things from them at more than it costs to buy them elsewhere.

I can only assume that people don't realise that they are typically the most expensive for everything ?

Being the most conspicuous chain will get you a lot of sales just for being there. Halfords, B&Q and so on all have cheaper and slightly less convenient competitors.

I've a weird feeling this might get absolutely slated. Hmmm.

Tempted to try and hold the wife off from getting a copy for a bit (we are both still playing GTA anyhow) and then pick it up for the WiiU this xmas.

CoD playable off the controller would be amazing to dick about on, whilst the other watches TV.

It looks like there is no Tesco offer this time round which is a shame.
Sainsburys have the best deal at £33 if you want to do £30 of shopping there anyway.

I wonder why they have done that - given that i'm sure previous years have made them a lot of money - i also saw some statistic that said that 1/3 of *all* UK copies of GTA5 went via Tesco

http://www.videogamer.com/xbox360/gta5/ ... sales.html

(I bought mine from there and i'm sure a lot of others on here did as well)

The Sainsburys deal to me also seems 'worse' than their BF4 and AC4 offers

My Local Sainsburys also have the box for Ghosts out but not built yet

Really? I was half-tempted as I haven't bought a CoD game since MW2, but I'll probably just pick up the Blops games for cheap now.

I picked it up from Sainsburys on the way in to work along with £30 of alcohol for Christmas, but won't get to play it till tomorrow as I'm off to see Thor tonight.

It all sounds a bit predictable but I'm sure I'll get my money's worth out of it anyway.

The tone of review in both cases certainly indicated that they wouldn't give more than a seven without some sort of genre breaking shift, which isn't what I expected or even really cared about. Other than that, all good!

That's fair enough, if that's what you're after. I'm not paying £45 for more of the same from the last six years though.

I picked it up from Tesco (straight £40 - no offers) - and will see what its like tonight

FYI there is a '7 day' free gold trial code in the box (if anyone wants mine just ask but if your picking this up and were going to renew gold just use the code first and see if you think its worth it)

NGTZombies (who streamed a lot of their discovery stuff for Origins) are streaming Extinction right now and i watched a little bit of it - its not Zombies but it looks okay - 4 player co-op hoard mode with XP stuff which i'm sure will be good if you get the right group.

PS4 version has frame rate issues. For a series that prides itself on 60fps no matter what else has to be sacrificed, that's got to be a concern.
