"Gest was due to tour the UK in a musical show called David Gest Is Not Dead, But Alive With Soul, starting in York on 1 July."
Ironing.

BBC said "Entertainer and producer David Gest found dead"

Think they were pushing it in using the word "Entertainer" to describe him

Do you look like him?

I feel like him at the moment.

No, I was thinking more that a load of press getting to the four season, finding there is nothing to report on and so returning to tax avoidance stories just as I walk out the office smoking a Cuban cigar wouldn't be ideal.

Oh wow that's freaky. He was in CBB and when David Bowie died some one got confused and thought Gest had died.

I was just thinking about that - when I heard it, retold by a guest on the Adam Buxton podcast talking about David Bowie's death, it was an hilarious story - Bowie's ex-wife upset enough just to say 'David's dead' while Gest was convalescing in the next room. And this to a woman who had just been in said room.

Now, just an accidental grim foreshadowing.

Second link for 'David Gest dead', too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97pEKGNT0Xw

Sad to see another person who formed part of my childhood slip away... :(

Bit disappointed with the Beeb on this one - they announced his passing on their news site today, and it was at the top of the list of most-read articles for most of the morning.

But, not even a brief mention on the telly news...

That is a Shame, B7 was great, still remember where I was when I watched the first episode.

Really surprised this has never been made again, even for the time the Liberator was a great looking ship!

Just seen my first Victoria Wood and Prince playing a duet reference. Colour me cynical, but I think it's unlikely that she'd be first on his heavenly gig list.

Prince is dead...? Bloody hell. OK I wasn't into his music, but "When Doves Cry" meant a lot to me at the time, I was 16 and going through some bad, bad times; it resonated somewhat. RIP :(

Victoria Wood also.... so young, both of them. I thought she was utterly brilliant in the self-penned Housewife, 49 :(

Another shocker, not a massive Prince fan but I went to see him when we were given free tickets when he last played Manchester and he was bloody brilliant. What a performer, 2 and half hours belting out all the hits. Another big loss.

Here is my heartfelt tribute to Prince, channelled through the early 90s Maygay fruit machine 'Cluedo' and its collect bank sample, which has a certain poignancy about it now.

Prince is one of the few artists I've never managed to see live that I'd really wanted to.
Looks like I left that too late.
