No discussion about Ubi's latest super-hyped game?
Has anyone tried it? Has anyone bought it?
Because I thought it looked quite promising, and then Eurogamer hated it.

I tried the demo. I didn't think it was bad, but couldn't be bothered to finish it. Which isn't a good sign at all.

Also: worst dialogue ever.

I tried the demo and hated it. (I also didn't finish it)

Shame, as I liked the timesplitters series.

Likewise, I don't have a PS3 but I thought Haze was going to a big thing and then I read that review. It was the most scathing review I've read in years.

I actually felt bad for the developers it was so harsh.

I wish more reviews were like that.

I do feel sorry for the developers. AFAIK, they struggled quite alot to get it working on the PS3, with very little support.

Not read the review. Tch, though - Haze was the one game that I felt a bit bad about not being able to play. Despite owning a 360 and therefore several hundred FPS already. I didn't love the Timesplitters games (and have never liked Goldeneye) but they did seem on the verge of a breakthrough. A shame that Haze is PS3-only too, probably no hope of a 'fixed' version for the 360 later.

I think this is the PS3's loss, most of all.

It's such a harsh review that I would recommend a quick read to anybody. Just to remember what a harsh review can be like.

I never got on with Timesplitters either. Seemed too "floaty".

That was a lovely read. Took me back to the good old AP days, that did.

It'd be a different story if Haze had been advertised on EG of course...

Ha ha! That was just Sensible Soccer right? Or did I miss some other ones as well?

I also note that Eurogamer reviewed MGS4 and so must have agreed to the "don't mention the shitty things" stuff.

Which makes them cuntish.

I would have felt more sorry for them if they hadn't turned me down for a job. ;)

Read the review. They pretty much say that they have been told not to mention things...

Ah ok.

Still I would like them to outright say it to be honest. And if a game needs a 5gig install that fact should not be ignored.

Yeah, sadly the PS3's blu ray drive is rubbish. This will be a constant throughout the PS3s life. Yes, they should be slated about it.

But I am slightly biased towards MGS4, and knew I'd always be getting it, just as I find Mr Hayter so amusing, and loved the previous 3 games.

Can we merge the Haze and MGS4 threads? ;)

Just read the Eurogamer review. For such a scathing review I notice it still got 4/10.. so just below average then.

In my personal opinion, for whatever reason, I have found that I am entirely dubious and take issue with damn near every review of Kristan Reed's that I've read. I imagine this is my own nasty little problem, but still, hmm.

Those cut scenes were excruciating though. At the very least he was right about those.

All this talk of MGS makes me want to pop in my MGS: Twin Snakes, as the Wii allows me to without getting the Cube out again.

Yes, I own MGS for PS1, the extra Virtual Missions for PS1, AND the Twin Snakes remake for Cube. Yet I never played 2, or 3, despite seeing it cheaply pre-owned for Xbox at GameStation a few times.

The xbox version was crap. If you get it, get the ps2 version.

Don't own a PS2, chap. Nor a PS3. Last (Read : Only) Sony console I owned was an original grey PlayStation.

Why is the Xbox one crap? Just the controller?

Mainly flaky controls. The PS2 version relied on analogue buttons, which the XBox controller didn't have. This made things a fair bit more tricky. It may be less of an issue if you never played the PS2 version, mind. I just found it quite inferior.

(And in case you've missed my numerous complaints, I hate the Dual shock range / sixaxis controllers quite fervently)
