That's a very good point, well made, Grim.... Answer is that after I finished I made a little squeaking noise when I realised what an utter plum I am.

My two options for the other 29 gensstealers, the 10 appalling terminators fromthe Space Hulk set and the 8 lovely 1st edition chaos terminators is either (i) buy a bunch of resin bases with decking patterns on them, which is quite spenny or (ii) cover bases in sand and paint black, drybrush grey, which would look a bit arse.

If you look at the model train boys stuff, you can get plasticard with embossed patterns, like diamond safety tread or tile patterns.

Carbon Fiber "effect" sticker sheets are cheap as chips, and might look good too.

Car shops sell a very fine aluminium mesh to use for bodging car bodies with filler, it'll cut with scissors and look decent with some grime effects applied.

The Antics in Stroud doesn't stock any embossed styrene sheet so that wouldn't have been worth the bother anyway.

This place is your friend. lots of train boys modelling stuff, and paints and....

I suppose the grassy base looks odd if you're only using them for Space Hulk, but Tyranids like to tear into things on land too.

Pundy - yeah, he has a great selection, but his shipping prices are horrible. When I bought all the stuff for the terrain board I went to his place first, but after pricing it up it was considerably cheaper to buy it all from Hattons the railway modelling place.

I have a stack of plastic spacemarines, and I decided to start doing something with them. Having seen From The Warp's take on the RT era Howling Griffon camo, I thought I'd shamelessly nick the methods from here: http://fromthewarp.blogspot.co.uk/2012/ ... hemes.html






However, I feel it's missing something, and with just the wash and the basecolour touchup it looks a little flat - I've never been too sure of how to highlight camo schemes.

Yup. So if you drop your dice, better hope you're pretty flexible! There's a whole bunch of these rules, one of them is '+1 to wounds if you have a bigger beard than your opponent'

They're designed for fun, something silly to add to the game once you and your mates have had a few drinks. They're entirely optional, but I can assure you that staring at your opponent and intoning "WAR" at them in a deadly-serious voice as you roll the dice is hilarious.

No idea what it's made of, I seriously hope it's been treated to withstand the horrid rains of Rottingham otherwise by December it'll be a mess and a half. Ever visited Warhammer World? it got rebuilt and reopened a couple of months ago, it's pretty cool now.

Yeah, there's some cross people out there. I picked up my Age of Sigmar box at the weekend and I like it (I'm going to paint my Relictor like Papa Shango!), but then I was never into Fantasy especially. I get why it's pissed off a lot of people but (obviously) I hope a lot of people like it.
