I got the 32GB one for £180, which was the same price as a Wii when they first came out.

Just keep an eye on Lewie's site they often come up for cheap (around £150 for the pro version with a game bundled in)

e.g. this is now out of stock but was less than a month ago :

http://savygamer.co.uk/2014/03/27/ninte ... hd-149-99/

Wii u premium pack + Zelda for £150

Who needs a box anyway? They just cause a fire hazard in my spare room for 12 months, then I recycle them.

Or European. Or Canadian. Or Indian. Or South African, I think.

But probably Birmingham or nearby.

I have approximately no idea what's going on in that anymore. He appears to have lost the plot/ability to draw women who are distinguishable from one another.

I remember getting confused about the girls (although you could recognise Erika and Ping).

I forget how far I got - past strip 1,000, for sure.

I can't always tell them apart either. It's become really bad in that regard. Also: the absolutely glacial speed with which it's being made.

I don't know why I haven't removed it yet.

Anyone jumped aboard Team Wii U recently for Mario Kart 8?

Very much looking forward to MK8, have to admit that I haven't switched on my Wii U since I finished the wonderful Super Mario 3D World back in December.

I've been using mine for Netflix as it's better than it is on the 360 and also playing NSMB-U which I got for £20 from Amazon.

Also got some use local 5 player the other week on Nintendoland which was a great laugh.

Local 4 player MK8 is going to be epic though.

Has the excitement of Mario Kart's release made Nintendo go a bit loopy today? The evidence:

First, Mercedes DLC car for Mario Kart (looks like it has been confirmed for Japan only)
Image

And then a Gamecube controller adapter for Brawl.

Crazy Nintendo.

I can download my additional game now. AAAGH decisions.

I'm thinking Wonderful 101 - (Platinum game so almost a must but the touch screen stuff sounds a bit hit and miss) or Pikmin 3 - I quite enjoyed the first one but the point at which resource management ends up being a chore is a low threshold for me.

What say the hive?

I have Pikmin 3. If you liked either of the previous two, you'll probably like this. (Although I did find it controlled better with the gamecube versions)
It is rather pretty, but as with the others, I find the bosses to be not so much fun. Also they've returned to a kind of limited time scale as per Pikmin 1, but no idea how harsh it is, but it's slowed my progress as I keep rnning out of time on a boss but am unwilling to spent only a fraction of a day to reach him and waste the rest for the battle.

Not tried wonderful 101, but it's one of the two games I'm interested in on that list.

I went for Pikmin 3 as there has been an update to the controls since release which sounds like it makes things a bit better.

So how do I get my free game? Do I need to register my copy of Mario Kart on Nintendo World or whatever it is?

Register the game on club nintendo, then go back 48 hours later and there should be a message saying you can get a free game then make a selection from that and you'll get a download code to enter into the eshop.

I also spent Zardoz's stars at the same time so I got double goodness.

I've tried to buy the Wii U Mario Kart 8 bundle from the local GAME twice now, and on both occasions they've totally sold out of their last delivery.

I realise I could simply order one online but I'm quite enjoying the thrill of an old-fashioned chase.

I shall stick at it until I acquire one.

Yay Nintendo Wii U get at the third time of trying :)

£289.99 for the premium console plus a few extra accessories (the multi-charge station looks like it could be handy), Mario Kart 8, Super Mario 3D World, and of course the download code for an extra game.

Got it all set up OK and the console is updating now.

Not sure what to go for on the free game, I'd say it's between Super Mario Bros U and Pikmin 3, or maybe the Zelda game?

No, I must confess I basically skipped every Nintendo console after the SNES (which is rather odd as the SNES remains one of my favourite games consoles ever, indeed I still own a fully working one). The 64, Gamecube and Wii I didn't own any of.

I think it was probably because I was already massively into the PS1 and Saturn before the 64 was released, and I just started skipping Nintendo stuff.

They're all good games so I hesitate to recommend any, Zelda would be my choice of the lot - what with having bought it twice. (And strangely, given it's a GC game makes the best use of the pad)

Cheers dude I'll have a think about it, although I must say I really like the look of Pikmin 3 and I've never played any of the other Pikmin games.

Also, in other news, £5.49 for a SNES game on the eShop! :o

Plus, Nintendo aren't very good at online are they? I need a Club Nintendo account and also a Nintendo Network ID, and I have to link them together, even though I'm the same person using the same console :D

Still, it feels good to have a Nintendo console again, I predict much pure videogaming fun in the weeks and months to come.

I'd choose Pikmin over Zelda any day. Today, in fact. Although if you've never played a Zelda game and were desperate to find out what it's all about AND it was free, then New/Old Zelda wouldn't hurt your eyes for a few hours before you turned it off never to come back to it again.

Anyone who'd choose pretty much anything over playing Wind Waker for the first time is a fucking mentalist. Seriously, I envy you the chance to be playing it for the first time ever as it's awesome with awesome sauce. Fuck Pikmin; get Zelda.
