That looks a tad disappointing. Maybe more of the same isn't necessarily a bad thing for something as batshit as Bayonetta, but that looks utterly devoid of anything new. I loved Bayonetta for its freshness. That looks a little fetid.

A Wii-U has just arrived for me. With Just Dance, Nintendoland, Wii Party and a couple of remotes - all for £189.

I am rather excited about this. Well maybe not the Just Dance stuff (He lied. Convincingly)

I've even got these Nintendo Stars that Nintendo sent me saying they had stolen them off some moaning fucking slaphead just for shits and giggles. I can still spend them right?

I've only managed to get a couple of hours with it but I'm already very impressed.

I'm Bigtrousers - will do some adding tonight. Anything arcadey you would recommend Lave? You're usually into the same kind of stuff as me.

I'm BritishNervoso. Arcade-wise you can't go much wrong with Nano Assault: Neo.

Currently most of my time has been spent on New Super Mario Bros U, which despite the general boredom people express because of the same art style of the previous games - it's the best 2D platformer I've ever played.

That and the glorious Rhythm Paradise (for the orginal Wii - which no longer is fuzzy and horrible looking thanks to coming in over HDMI).

And I've Super Mario 3D world waiting for after the Last of Us.

I've not picked up any Trousers Big Score Arcade style games yet.

I really likes Super Mario Bros on the 3DS so I will probably pick that up.

As for my erstwhile career as a leaderboard junkie I just haven't got the time/inclination to be that relentlessly competitive anymore. Well that and MrC and others kicked the absolute shit out of me on Pinball FX. I've never quite recovered.

Can I ask you guys your opinion on third party controllers?

there is a family with hardly any spare funds I would like to giver our Wii to (as we now have a WiiU) but they will need controllers and nunchucks (as we still need ours) so I'm looking for cheep options.

I have not bought any myself, but the quality is not the best with regards to the motion controls from what I've read. Maybe look at some reviews of specific third-party controllers to try to find the best?

I would go for second hand over third party every time when it comes to wii controllers.

OK so I have had mine for over a week now. Thoughts;

How does such a big cumbersome screen / controller thing feel so comfortable in my hands? Voodoo
I love the way music comes out of both the TV and the controller but you get different aspects of the music from each
Browsing the eShop is awful. Why can't any of them get a decent digital shop front going?
Just Dance is as random as it ever was - but still funny
NintendoLand is easily the best thing I have got for it so far. Some of it is gimmicky and some of it plain shit but most of it is fun to play once you get through the irritating tutorials with the irksome Monita
Wii-U Party might as well be a random number generator in the main. Skill not required.
Megan is very enamoured by it. Mainly because she beat me in a dance battle. But still.

I've also grabbed Nano Assault Thingy which is nice and twitchy if a little disorienting and Zombii-U which I am going to start properly when I finish GTA5 on the 360

Overall though it seems a right bargain for £190.

finished the main story mode of lego city with my son.. which was fun if a bit easy... he's now ocd'ing the gangs and cars and stuff.. although mainly happy to drive around with the bus and stop at all busstops.

been doing a bit of pikmin 3... but basically really looking forward to mario kart release day.. even pre ordered the special edition...

I loved playing though Lego City. Easy yes but bright and cheerful.

And yes, waiting for Mario Kart also. Even ordered the extended battery in preparation for it.

Borrowed Disney Infinity and it is what I feared. The actual game bits are too simple and the toybox I would never have time for. Especially the time needed to unlock everything. Enjoyed sailing around with pirates.

I really must start Wonderful 101 and Ducktails.

Extended battery? This thing? http://wiiudaily.com/2014/01/wii-u-extended-battery/

First I've heard of it. They should put it in as standard for new consoles.

That's the bugger. I don't think it's essential, only had a problem with the battery when playing Lego City. But it was my birthday recently so I thought I treat myself.

I bought 2 with nunchucks a few years on EBay from a Hong Kong seller.

I bought them in black on purpose so I could always identify the none standard ones.

They have been great and never given me any issues

Incidentally, I read that the 3DS can't handle running it's OS at the same time as 'emulating' the GBA, which is why Nintendo are selling GBA games on the Wii U rather than their natural and obvious home on the 3DS. Bah, eh?

If that's right, then how come I have some GBA games already? They were given away for people that bought the console before the price drop.

I agree, it does seem weird.

The existing GBA games from the Ambassador Program were all hacked tougher to work as 'faked' DSiWare, and thus don't have all the OS functionality. Nintendo apparently doesn't want to release anything on the 3DS Virtual Console that doesn't work fully with the system OS - which is why the VC selection on the eShop is limited to NES, Game Boy, Game Boy Color and a few Game Gear games,* all machines with much limited power than a GBA.

* oh and the PC Engine, but sadly only in Japan so far.

The screen resolution of the 3DS is pretty bad for playing GBA games too. The pixels look all squashed.

I got the 32GB one for £180, which was the same price as a Wii when they first came out.

Just keep an eye on Lewie's site they often come up for cheap (around £150 for the pro version with a game bundled in)

e.g. this is now out of stock but was less than a month ago :

http://savygamer.co.uk/2014/03/27/ninte ... hd-149-99/

Wii u premium pack + Zelda for £150

Or European. Or Canadian. Or Indian. Or South African, I think.

But probably Birmingham or nearby.

I have approximately no idea what's going on in that anymore. He appears to have lost the plot/ability to draw women who are distinguishable from one another.

I remember getting confused about the girls (although you could recognise Erika and Ping).

I forget how far I got - past strip 1,000, for sure.

I can't always tell them apart either. It's become really bad in that regard. Also: the absolutely glacial speed with which it's being made.

I don't know why I haven't removed it yet.
