Are we getting any DLC for this? I haven't booted it up in ages and I couldn't give a toss about the multiplayer.

Last night, Grim... and I discovered the Accidental Limo Fakeout, and it was great.

We spawn in a Job. Two of us, n00bs, versus two level 60-80 types. We're fucked, basically. Mission is to drive some banker from the airport to his home in the Vinewood Hills, in his fancy limo. The other guys have motorbikes and they have to stop us.

Grim... heads for the limo. I look around and spot some SUVs a bit further up the road, and decide I can run interference better with a second car, so I get it one. The banker... gets in the SUV with me, for some reason. Maybe because I got to the SUV before Grim... does. This gives us an idea.

We drive off, Grim... in the limo on his own, me and the banker in the SUV following close behind. We stick together like that for a mile or so until the enemies are upon us, at which point we enact our cunning plan... I rabbit, floor the SUV, take off for the horizon, the banker thrown across the rear seat behind me. Grim... takes desperate evasive moves, flinging the empty limo all around the road.

It works! They take the bait! Both Bad Men bear down on Grim...'s limo, trying to take it down with their pistols. Neither pay any attention to me at all -- we guessed that once they had the limo in sight, they stopped looking at the map, which presumably showed their target disappearing over the horizon. By the time they killed Grim..., I was half a mile from the destination. They briefly stole the limo, then seemed to get really confused at what was happening. A few seconds later I delivered the banker, totally unharmed, without ever having seen the enemy. WINNER.

It's. So. Good.

I let the game skip that mission for me after the umpteenth time. I winced as I did it, but I couldn't be arsed trying to blam blam my way through all those meth'd up twats again. My gaming time is too scarce these days. Also, hearing Trevor snarl the same unpleasant lines over and over was making me twitch.

I'm happy to try and try until I get it right in some games (Rayman Legends and the like) but GTA isn't one of them. The controls are far too imprecise.

Also, this. There's a post up there with three screenfuls of numbers from a FRAPS capture. Making people read that is a war crime, FFS.

It's the snarky comments that grate, just a simple 'keep it on topic please chaps' would have done the job, or move the posts to the PC gaming hardware thread or something, but instead we get the sarcasm and that immediately gets backs up.

It's a handful of posts that have gone into PC spod territory (albeit still related to the game), conducted in a perfectly civil manner, between the two resident PC spods.

And this thread had basically run its course anyway, with 30 of its 32 pages being over a year old, and it mostly being resurrected with talk of the XBoner/PS4/PC release.

That said, no point falling out over it so any further techno-babble about the PC version I'll post to the PC gaming hardware thread, I honestly didn't think me and Mr Coffey having a bit of a natter about PC spoddery in this thread would bother anyone, given that everyone seemed to have talked it out ages ago with the 360/PS3 versions.

After the Limo fakeout, we did a two-player mission where one of us had to deliver a track to the desert (five miles away, or so) and the other had to destroy it.

I was destroying, and all I had was a pistol. Anyway, I catch up plenty fast, because the truck was slow. Miraculously, I capped Doc in the face with my first shot (whilst overtaking), and stole the truck.

My pistol wasn't about to take down a truck, so in a flash of genius I started to head up the train tracks. Bonusingly, the truck was as fast over them as any other vehicle, so it was hard for the Doc to catch me up.

Predictably, no train came. I jumped out to see if I could blow out the tyres, when the Doc appeared over a ridge up ahead and started running toward me. I took cover behind the truck, and he got in it, and tried to run me over.

Aha! I was ready for his ploy, and lept out of the way, momentarily confused at why he was so desperately trying to reverse up the steep hill to the side of the track, and THEN THE FUCKING TRAIN CAME PAST.

Stupid truck. Stupid mission. Much lollage.

It wasn't sarcasm (from me, at least).

I assumed that's what the invite was, although timing was off as this was first time id played it for over 3 months and was completely cack handed (muscle memory from playing Marvel agents of shield with the boy so often) that I thought it wise to decline.

Ha! We were just running around being dicks, so I'm sure you'd have fitted in fine.

What Grim... didn't see was that I spend this period driving along the bank next to the track, with the truck on a 40 degree angle, inches from the train, praying it wouldn't just tip the rest of the way over and fall into the speeding train. Whilst also trying to get away from Grim..., who was right behind me. And whilst laughing.

This entire thread was dead for six months until the chat about the PC version jump started it but now people need to shut up? What the hell?

Yeah, I was saying you suggested I didn't let anyone do anything, not that you were accusing me of it. It doesn't read that well, in hindsight.

Well that's the torture mission out of the way, it wasn't as bad as I was expecting but it still wasn't exactly joyous. It'd be nice if there were options other than resorting to torture, but it's a pretty linear experience.

To cheer myself up afterwards I just dicked around looking for stunt jumps as Michael, and enjoyed the company of a prostitute. (It's a GTA game, you've got to do the prostitutes.)

I also died a few times after getting into various altercations, so kept going back to the last save instead of paying $5000 at the hospital, and every time I reloaded Michael was in a different place, in a different situation, with different monologue/dialogue - it's touches like that which really set the game apart.

There are still massive chunks of the map I haven't explored yet, with 18 hours playtime already on record.

Until this week I can't even remember the last time I visited here, or posted here. I would say at least two years, possibly more. There may have been a moment or two that I decided to come back but to be honest I really just don't remember.

Grim is right, I was never banned. I forgot the password on my JC account. This happens to me, a lot. I tried to reset it once or twice but realised it was tied to my old Tiscali account from 2008. That must have been when I first joined, invited here by a couple of online chums that I knew from 2000. It was an escape from the spiteful trolls who decided that their main mission in life was to make me unhappy. They failed.

So I joined here as JC. The last time I remember actually posting here and taking this place seriously was a long time ago now. At that stage I was being medicated for the problems I have and it wasn't working. At all. Hallucinations, delusions.. I wasn't very well. However, I do remember trying to point this out yet there were a few people here who decided to make my life miserable and jump on every word I posted, desperate to prove it wrong and make me look bad. I remember. Even when my head is fucked up the most I still remember. I decided in the end to just fuck off. What's the fucking point in trying to fit into a community that has already decided on its members.

Well the other day I was talking to one of my old chums and he mentioned this place. I figure "What the fuck, now that I'm quite stable and well I may try posting there because above and beyond there were some thoroughly decent people there and I actually missed a good few of them".

So here I am.

I'm fully aware of who does and doesn't like me on here because they've made it clear. As for me posting off topic? fuck off that's bollocks. As has been pointed out this thread was once the GTAV console thread but that shit happened ages ago and now we're onto the PC version. With that comes talk of performance, FPS and so on.

Sadly as I look around I can see just how many members have gone. This is a shame. A real shame.

If you want to take this forum private then do so. If you're happy with the member base and don't feel you want any one else around then just make it private and ban any one you don't want here.

What I am utterly gobsmacked at is how long people hold onto spite. Seriously, TWO FUCKING YEARS and people are kicking off already. Have a fucking word with yourselves. It's just some guy on the internet.
