Good work. I don't know how you keep in on the road for these long races. Anything more than ten or fifteen laps and I find that I'll usually have a lapse in concentration at the wrong time and bin it.

Just practice practice practice. Tbh these 2 hour races are a piece of cake once you've done 24hr endurance racing.

It really helps that my team has some excellent setup builders. My car was glued to the track last night and the tyres lasted for ages!

Monza has not been too kind to me this week, but I finally got a slice of luck. Car #30 of 30 in this race, managed to escape this unscathed (somehow) and finish 9th!

Blancpain Endurance Series Pro Qualifiers Round 1: Autodromo Nazionale Monza Grand Prix, 3 hours

Q: 32
R: 18

An eventful race for me, I got rear-ended twice during my two stints, plus ran into the back of a car dithering at slow speed who didn't know which side of the track he wanted to be on and then had a collision with a backmarker who decided he would race anyone who happened to be nearby. My team mate had a more serene race during his only stint. We still finished reasonably well, 18th of 52 teams. Bottom (4th) split however, so I'm currently 539th in the overall standings out of 703, which means I'm not really in the reckoning for a pro licence.

Classic example of where if you spin off and are recovering at low speed, get on one side of the track and stay there!

Rear end #1 - nice and gentle

Rear end #2 - a hard ramming

I'll admit, this is partly my fault. This guy was a lapped car and had been fighting with the lead cars for a number of laps. I very much wanted to get him out of the way. Unfortunately due to the draft I got too close to the car in front of him and had to slam the brakes on.

This is the world record screen. I have filtered it by this week's track and car combo in the NASCAR iRacing Series and sorted it by practice time. I'm the 3rd fastest in the world, currently.

Weirdly I was having issues with my team's setups this week, so I went back to baseline and made a couple of minor tweaks. Set this time just now. Almost a second faster than I was doing earlier this week!

Ah wait, it's just the Toyota Camry, doesn't include the Chevy or Ford times. So that makes me 14th in the world overall. Still pretty good.

A long way to go. My iRating is about 2200 at the moment. To put it in perspective I was in split 6 of 7 in the Pro Series on Tuesday. To stand a chance of qualifying for the Peak series I need to be in the top 2 splits because of how the points system works. The worst driver in split 2 had just over 5000 iR.

It's unlikely I'll ever get that far, tbh.

IMSA is at Daytona this week and has been very unkind to me so far. First race a guy cut across the kink on lap 2 and wiped four other cars out (including me). Second race I ended up tangling with a slow GTE driver who'd just recovered from a different incident with another GT3 car. I thought he had let me through so I tracked out, but of course he'd decided to pull alongside me. I came off worse.

I lost 105 iR from those two races alone. Just about to race BSS at Bathurst and it's not a track I'm especially confident at.

Bathurst no better. I tap someone from behind on lap 2 as he braked way earlier than I was expecting - he gets stuck in the wall and I have nowhere to go but plough straight into him. We have to wait for the whole lot to stream past us before I can reverse and get us going again. I need to pit and get 11 mins worth of damage fixed. Then with about 10 laps to go with a still slightly damaged car I get loose at the top of the mountain and put it into the fence myself. What a shitty week so far, and it only started yesterday.

We had our best BES Pro Quali race of the season at Suzuka yesterday afternoon. Started 35th of 55 teams in Split 3/3 and ended up finishing P13. I drove the first two hours before handing over to my teammate Jonathan who drove the last two. We managed to keep the car completely clean until about 4 laps from the end when he lost it coming out of the hairpin and slightly grazed the wall. Luckily P14 was too far behind to capitalise and it didn't seem to affect our lap times.

The top 25 teams get pro licences and entry to the Blancpain GT Pro Series. We are currently 214th of 359 after 3 rounds. :D

Next race is 3 hours of Road Atlanta in two weeks' time.

So it's quarterly update day! This means using Test Drive to try out all the cars I don't own. First up, wingless sprint cars at Eldora! These are meant to be the hardest dirt cars to drive - I'm trying out the lower-powered one of the two.

My best finish in a rallycross feature (2nd) also includes a very close finish and a great use of the joker by my opponent, but I had just enough momentum to hold onto P2.

Well, it's that time of year again: the 24 Hours of Daytona. Starts at 1:30pm Saturday, finishes 1:30pm Sunday. My old team has reformed and we'll be trying not to crash the #70 Wernä Digital eSports Racing Ferrari 488 GTE (chassis name Gretchen) for a full day.

I'll probably try streaming it unless it destroys my PC.

Server threw a wobbly and we didn't get the Grid button so had to leave the session and rejoin. By that time the race had started. We started from the pit lane and then swapped ends at the bus stop trying to negotiate GT3 traffic. 11 mins pit stop and we're back out, I'm assuming dead last. Nothing to lose from here!
