I think you need to eat something - you're a little underweight.

I am 4 stone heavier than Trooper.. >:|

Other news I did a 5k last night. Took it easier a jog rather than running. The lactic acid did not come in till 3k round this time. :)

I'm going to have to do some *serious* work on my sleep efficiency to get near Trooper on that. This calls for a rigorous training regime!

Having been to the docs, apparently I have mean muscle not lean muscle. Hence the lactic acid build up, it sounds more awesome than it is.

Other news, I have sprained my trapezium muscle and broke my hand 8)

I'm currently doing 4.5km in about 36 minutes, on a reasonably hilly route. My fitbit thinks I have climbed 20 floors at the end of the run...

Strangely, this time around, i'm suffering more from aching calf muscles rather than anything else. Last time I did any running it was being out of breath and shin splints that stopped me.

Having been for a full english breakfast at Shelsley Walsh this morning I felt obliged to get the bike out and go for a 20 mile cycle.
Turns out it was windier than it looked and I'm bloody tried now.

My session at the gym on Monday screwed my arms and legs up for a day or two, but it has fucked my back up something chronic, it still hurts like hell even today.

Perhaps I'm not cut out for this stuff after all!

Interesting. I don't think it will catch on though.

I'm really looking forward to the clocks changing so I can get out on my bike in the evenings again.

The only thing I can think I've changed in the last couple of months is regularly going out running again and yet my belly seems to be growing.

I'm going to market this regime as "Run Yourself Fat".

I've given up on the running, too much like hard work. Giving up is a strong statement though as I never really started, I went out 3 times IIRC. I walk a bit more though, due to my step counter thing, but that's it.
I also still go out for meals quite a lot, eat fast food quite a bit etc... All I have really done is stop snacking between meals.

Yeah, sadly there's quite some correlation with exercise between the amount of work it is and the efficacy. The trick is to find something that you enjoy and then at least it won't feel like so much work. I quite like running, often find I can settle into a rhythm where I'm working really hard but I'm not thinking about how much effort it is, just cruising along the seafront in a contemplative, meditative sort of state. Other times I drag myself out and it feels like a proper slog. Either way it feels good afterwards, though.

So... my fitbit force apparently can cause skin rash in some people, so they have recalled the lot and now face a law suit...

I wonder if they can survive that, or is the service behind my tracker on borrowed time. That will be annoying.

Christ, the guy that's heading the suit never even suffered any skin rash from the thing but he's doing it anyway because America. Although, to be fair, they're only asking that the company provide a refund rather than trying to sue them into next week.

Well, wouldn't you know, I got a bit of a rash over the weekend :D Weird how the body works eh? Coincidence or my brain fucking me up somehow?

I've lost 9lbs since I started this time around, but for the past week I've worn the tracker, but not looked at it or synced it, so i'm going to get rid I think. It was a good thing to start with to understand what I was doing throughout the day and get me to change my habits, but now i've done that it has become pretty much superfluous. If I had the functionality in something that I was already wearing or carrying anyway, then I'd be happy to keep tracking. But, a device dedicated to it? I don't need that anymore, or at least I think I don't...

Flogging it will be tricky though, as I can't list it on ebay anymore. I'm going to see if I can get a refund even though i'm in the UK.

I'm being sent a prepaid envelope to post it off in, and I get $140 back. Can't say fairer than that, especially as they didn't have to do anything for me at all really!

It's actually a worldwide competition, there will be around 50000 runners all running at the same time at various locations around the world. They all start at the same time, and the chase cars all start at the same, and they all increase speed by the same rate. The person who lasts the longest before being caught is the winner.

There is a calculator on the site so you can work out at what point you can expect to be passed, for me I'm expecting around the 8k mark after just over an hour.

Put unstressing first Nervoso. But silver lining and that.

I've had stag dos, punting and bbqs to attend and I've put on a kilo (2lb) too.

First real gain since I've tried to just maintain. Gotta be careful, I feel myself slipping back towards bad habits.

Also means I've only lost 6st12lb overall rather than 7stone. (Not that I care about imperial units, even when they are nice integers).

That is brilliant. To say I had not done any 5k running until a few months ago. I am a happy I can do it without stopping now. The acid build up is now at the 4k stage rather than 3k.

MsKov can do 5k under 20 mins now.

Roadbikes - I've a Specialised Allez Elite, which was just under £800, though I paid about £600 in total thanks to the cycle to work lark. To be honest, the entry level Allez is nice, quick and if you're thinking of spending £4-500, that would do nicely, I'd have thought - I just went for the elite because of the cycle to work discount. Other brands - like Trek - have similar prices for their 'entry level' bikes.

Nowt wrong with a bit of Halfords, either.

And I did my 200th parkrun at the weekend, all the way over in Gorky Park. In Soviet Russia, parkrun is you.
