Did a run today another sub 32 min run, but my calves burned all the way round. Not sure what is wrong with them.

Landed funny about 3k in. Thought it was nothing but my foot was all swollen on Monday and Gaz had to take me to A&E. Nothing visible on their x-rays but have to go back in a couple of weeks if it still hurts. :(

There's a definite difference in your pics. Nice work dude :D

I've somehow managed to put on half a stone plus since the barbecue. Back on the weights but my stomach is currently looking like I'm a good 5 months pregnant. With twins.

I may actually have to start this whole running business. Bah.

See I found the opposite! Shifted bugger all weight with the running but recently started bodyweight exercises + lifting and now finally seeing fat loss.

Weird how different things work for different people.

Hello, running folk.

My brother wants a pair of headphones that would "be good to use when jogging".

Are there specific ones, or will anything do?

What is he after?

I have a pair of these
http://www.philips.co.uk/c-p/SHQ4000_10 ... e-and-grey
Which are nice and do the job.

However, in my attempts to get rid of unnecessary stuff while running, i've dumped my phone and moved over to using these
http://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/walkm ... -nwz-w274s
Which are pretty damn good :)

I went to Boots today to get weighed thinking I would be under 15 stone. Nope - actually 15 stone 6

My waist, however, is getting smaller and I haven't grown an extra chin. Only possible explanation is that I am defying the laws of physics somehow and gaining muscle whilst getting thinner (ok Less Fat)

They key definitely appears to be sticking to the routine - I notice the biggest differences if I train every other day consistently. Even a couple of days off can affect my progress quite significantly. Also losing weight is *fucking* hard when you're actually proper middle aged (44)

I have similar "problems". My weight appears to be going up but there's definite fat loss.

I've stalled a bit since I stopped running due to injury but back on it last night with a 7.4km run, and my mate has convinced me to run a half marathon in December with her so I guess I'll be training for that now! ?:|

That's not really defying the laws of physics. Muscle is a lot, lot denser than fat. Women are out off by exercise that builds muscle because the scales don't give them the news they want to see. Body builders who gain weight aren't getting fatter and it's certainly not unusual for them to gain a few kgs while their waist size reduces.

It is defying it somewhat in that (diet-wise) in order to gain muscle you need to eat more than your required intake of calories (with the right balance of protein) and in order to lose fat you need to eat less than your required intake of calories.

A bodybuilder gains mass through eating loads (and pumping iron) but that mass is muscle and fat. They then go on a "cutting" phase to reduce the fat which involves minimal calories and hardly any fat. The muscle helps that process.

yes, but you are not really building muscle as toning and increasing the density of what you had before. I bet you thigh muscles are much more muscley err really slender and toned no, err toight, like a tiger showing increased muscle density, and the thighs are pretty big. You can increase the weight of them without making them bigger, especially when you are going from a low starting point.

And you might find you have this period of getting heavier/showing no change while getting fitter, but stick at it and then have a period where you do get lighter. Certainly happens to me - I had a bad Mar-Apr, put on some weight, did lots of cycling in summer and lost some weight, then put it on in a month off; now I've upped the running and cut down the cycling and my weight isn't changing, but I'm hugely fitter than I was. Barely ran in July but after a good few weeks I felt like I could have run all night this evening.

Do you feel your body is changing though? I genuinely don't give a toss about my actual weight; I just want my clothes to fit again.

I am the opposite none of my clothes fit me all too big.

Yes I have noticed a difference. Legs are a lot more toned and my number looks great.

Put on half a stone in the States. Not surprising with all the gourmet burgers and craft beer. So, starting the 5/2 diet today.
