Lost Planet was awesome. I liked the flawed sequel too -now that had a story I liked. Something about pirates or a robot tumble dryer and a lizard perhaps. Having sex.

Except that it's already been stated that Kickstarter's set-up only allows a $10,000 maximum pledge. What their page does have is a link to Double Fine which details the rewards >$10k and there's absolutely nothing to indicate they're not genuine.

Considering that people have already pledged the $10,000 amount, and some have even said "I would have paid more if Kickstarted had let me" I don't think they are a joke. Or if they are, they're a really good joke.

I know there were comparisons to Humble Bundle earlier - someone has paid $1,700 for the current one, which was $1,699 more than me.

That was itself a group buy from some... uhh.. slightly odd folk.

I've generally given $10-15 for the Humble Bundles. Even if I spend just a few hours playing just one of the games, it's easily worth that.

Depends how charitably-minded the vendor is, and I suppose it fills a niche for those people that want to pay for something they like while supporting a worthy cause.

It's not odd that people are paying for it, it's odd that these guys are reselling a donation, creaming half of it off (admittedly for charity), and giving the rest to the Humble Bundle guys. If it's with their blessing, fine - but if it's not, they're effectively ripping off the Humble Bundle guys for half the money they would have been getting - and they don't have any 'personal choice' in the matter.

I think you've misread it. The charity contribution in the Brony bundle purchase is just the charities that the Humble Bundle guys support. In other words, the 60%/30%/10% they list is how they set the sliders on the Humble Bundle page when they buy it.

I also don't think people contributed to the Brony Bundle get the games (how could they? They've only bought one licence for their donation...). I think it's just for PR/philanthropy.

Nah, not really. People just really like the new My Little Pony series, because it is *gasp* well put together, funny and totally not what you'd expect from a merch-driven girls cartoon show. Bronies are adult males who enjoy the show.
