So yeah, just someone being a bit vindictive I assume. There is no picture missing from the account from when I last saw it active so it must have been something that was uploaded after I last checked.

Richard Gaywood has kindly set up an alternative set-up in his web album, which was extremely generous. I will get everything a bit more organised and PM all those that would like to carry on taking part. I will change the password of the current Picasa album now, also, just for teh time being and will sort something out as far as that is concerned.

Maybe I took the theme too far when I painted my genitalia blue, red, and yellow and uploaded the photo.

Whilst it is a shame that such pettiness can cause such an outcome we should be glad it only results in people being even more 'excellent' to each other.

There are no publicly available links tot he pictures and no-one would see the pictures unless they were specifically looking at the account, which would only be people from here.

if someone here thought that something wasn't right I'd bet my now empty wallet that they'd either say on the board or contact a mod or maybe myself, not complain to Picasa. Also, the picture was uploaded and complained about at the same time, between 10pm and midnight, so I do not have any doubt that it was malicious.

I did ask if I could have any information about the complainee (?) but they ignored that in the reply.

I have to say I'm a bit puzzled by the complaints about cleekiness.

You CANNOT have a forum that has regular posters without cleeks forming or there being in-jokes. They're the natural results of a bunch of people talking to each other on a regular basis and getting on well. Surely?

And it's not like any of the regulars have turned round to a new poster (except Bruce Everiss) and said "Fuck off, you're not one of us". Everyone has, as far as I can tell, been incredibly welcoming to everyone else.

To prevent the "cleeks" forming naturally everyone would have to post less and be less interested in each other. Which sounds decidedly unexcellent.

Sorry guys, I'm just trying to organise the set-up and organisation of the alternative home(s) for the pictures and it would be handy if people didn't think this had descended into another thread about perceived cliquiness or what cheese people liked with their potato bake as people might think that nothing relevant was going to be posted here anymore when I am still working hard to 'fix' things at this end whilst this thread looks like more nonsense now.

The account kindly set up by Richard Gaywood in his gallery is working wonderfully

I have also changed the password to the current Picasa album and downloaded the pictures from there onto my laptop which I am uploading to Mr. Gaywood's site.

I have, on top of this created a DeviantArt Album.

The reason I have done this for the ease of the user. I will think of Richard Gaywood's album as the 'main' one, but if people would rather anonymously upload to either the Picasa or DeviantArt that is fine. Also because there are image size limits in Richard Gaywood's gallery and if anyone is unable to crop and re-size images when uploading directly from cameras, resizing options are easy on both these sites and I can copy and upload a smaller one directly to Richard gaywood's site for you. You only need to upload to one of these three options and I will collate the pictures in the same vote thread and move any that aren't in Richard's album there in a smaller format.

Please state in this thread or the current challenge thread if you would like to participate at any time and I will send out PMs with the relevant info once the folder structure is complete on each.

HOW IT WILL WORK

1) If you want to take part in the photo competition, say so in this thread.

2) I will PM you with the log-in details to Richard Gaywoods album, Picasa and DeviantArt

3) Upload you picture(s) anonymously to any one of these sites using those log-in details

4) Sit back and wait for the voting.

5) Smile.

I should point out that image resizing is done at upload, Mimi, and is automatic. Also it never crops, it only caps to a max width of 1280 and a max height of 1024. If you feed it a 10MP image composited from lots of shots at 4000x500 it will make a 1280x160 out of it. You shouldn't have to do anything -- if you do, it means it's broken and I have to fix it.

I chose these numbers at random -- I wouldn't have bothered but as we've clearly had abuse on the other forum I thought I'd protect myself. If anyone wants those numbers to get bigger I will make it so immediately.

If there's anything I can do to accomodate the use of my server over the other ones, so as to save Mimi some compilation work, please holler and I will sort it out.

Also, clearly, I have full access and IP logging on the server so if someone abuses this one I will trace their asses (also, the takedown notice would come to me! So no real problems there).

Oh, that's most fantastic, Richard. Thankyou again, and the size is perfect.

Ace: I only said that in case people were uploading directly from cameras and couldn't crop their images, but as Richqard has just clarfied that re-sizing is automatic it is all fantastic.

I've upped the thumbnails to four rows/five columns on each page. Should make for better browsing. I've also disabled the display of the EXIF information as that shows which camera each image was taken with and could be an identity giveaway.
