The maximum resolution has never really been an issue, I don't think, because when the photos are eventually uploaded to here they usually have a maximum (reset) resolution of about 800px wide, so not too big for those with camera phones, etc.

In addition to downsizing to a max size of 1280 width, the eggwan site will also be making a max width 640 file for you, Mimi. This may save you some resizing when you are making the vote threads.

Yes, I noticed that - it's (handily) like he way that Picasa would work - it generates a very handy sized file

No, it just says yu can't upload a picture above a certain size. Picasa definitely resized things for you - some of the original pictures were huge if yo choose to look at them full-size on there, but all were under 800px when I uploaded the already re-sized urls.

Flickr works in much the same way.
