Sigh. I've just bought a load of stuff from an German guy on eBay and stupidly I forgot to check if he accepted PayPal first. He doesn't. He does accept "Bank transfer" though. Anybody got an idea about what the frig biscuits that is and how to "do" one? Thanky dankys.

Or more specifically, his IBAN number.

(I had some Croatian guy buy stuff from me this way so I popped into my branch and asked them what my IBAN number was)

Your bank may charge you a few pounds though.

Just remember you have no comeback if it all fucks up chap. Your bank will not give two shits. The only reason I did a bank transfer with CG for his Wii is because I KNOW WHERE HE LIVES. Also, WHICH BRICK TO START THE SMASHING WITH.

It's only for about 15 quid at most, and he's got 10,000 or so good feedback. I'm up for a punt with that.

Bear in mind that the guy will then have your bank details and may be able to empty your bank account, the sinister German sort that he is.

You're best off hand delivering the cash to him, to be honest.

/tin foil hat.

I bought an Xbox memory card from a seller with well over 10,000 feedback. Never got it and they're no longer registered now. Ho hum.

And it all worked out nicely. The Wii hasn't spontaneously broken or ANYTHING.

Bank Transfers are fairly commonish, a couple of my web hosting people like to pay that way. It's all a breeze with t'internet banking. Crazy technology, eh?

I can do IBA-whatsit bank transfers on-line. Thats how I pay my real life chums my share of bills when I lived with them.

Can't you do that? Is that safer?

I can not answer these questions.

I don't have faith in online banking, unfortunately. My local bank branch is about half a mile away so I'll just pop in or something methinks.

Shame that the transfer will take a few days, even though today has seen the (partial) switching-on of the new Faster Payments System or whatever they're calling it.

Not if you're the same bank.

Me and CG were both with Lloyds, although we didn't know it at the time, and it took a few hours.

We're lucky in that respect though Mr Sheep, some banks will lag an account->account transfer within the bank by a day, even two. Halifax I think are sucky for this.

I've only ever been with Lloyds, to be honest. Had the account since I was like 3. I have had dealings with the Halifax in regards to releasing Shares where I worked at Sainsbury's and I must say I would NEVER EVER EVER have an account with them. EVER.

Gettin accces to that money was like pulling teeth. With a foam hand. From a hen.
