Anyone still up for this?

I've just got back from a nice internetless holiday visiting some friends down in Southampton, and am still up for some casual drinking fun. Anyway, as foretold, it is Tuesday. Are you Cardiff folks up for swinging round for this?

Refuses on this specific occassion, or refuses as a general rule due to a dark history of Dimrill-madness in Cardiff? ;)

Excellent news on the attendance then, shame you can't come though. :(

Excellent. I shall be wearing a light summer jacket and carrying a copy of the Financial Times some Penguin book or other.

Confirmed - and Wondergnome has just registered his intent to attend.

Might be a tad early, as it happens. I'll be wearing long hair and a pierced eyebrow.

Well, that was quite an evening. By the time I left, Wondergnome was long gone and MetalAngel had taken the last train home. NervousPete and I remained, then a fine young lady came over and plonked herself down for a chat. She seemed rather taken with Pete, so I left him to it in the end. We await the report with baited breath.

Also, you know when sometimes you take a photo of the people you are out with and you get this one shot where they all look like deformed mongy versions of themselves? Take a look 'behind the cut' - from left to right, Wondergnome, MetalAngel, NervousPete. All not quite so hideous in real life, but this one is a fucking classic. Plenty of Dimrill fodder here...

We need to bully Craig and Mimi into coming along to a London one sometime, just so we can use the thread title "London Mimi-Meet"

I prefered the description that it's actually a lost picture from the Nuremburg trials.

I didn't have quite so interesting an adventure home - the last train was in fact a replacement bus, which was filled with crotchety middle aged women (and a few suffering husbands) who had just been to see the Osmonds.

One woman in particular was complaining constantly about everything - that it was a bus when she'd paid for a train, that it was taking too long, that she didn't know where we were (Llanishen and Lisvane stations are tucked away in labyrinthe residential areas) and that she's never travelling this way again.

When we got to Caerphilly she shouted to the driver, demanding to know where we were going next/why we weren't going to Ystrad Mynach. The driver replied we were going to Aber next, to which she retorted 'but there's no-one here for Aber!'

The driver advised her that he still had to stop there, as it was on the route and in case there was someone there hoping to get on the bus. She shouted loud 'but there's NO-ONE HERE going to Aber!' to which I shouted to her as I walked up the aisle: 'Yes there IS. ME.'

'Ooh, I don't like your attitude!' she shouted back, 'I don't like his attitude'. She continued to rant and rave as I sat down in the front and chatted to the driver. It was just as we reached Aber that goatboy rang to tell me of the aforementioned adventures (starting with, 'Steve, you missed all the fun' - bloody typical)

'Tipsy Popsy' is defined as an underage girl in a pub who can't work a lighter. Heh.

I apologise again, nervouspete, for not spotting you sooner.

*Checking to see who Arthur Matthews is*

Well, a fun night that. We talked about other things than video games and forums, fancy that! There was indeed a nice lady who came over, though after Goatboy left she got a bit drunker and less coherent, and I mainly ended up chatting to her cute friend Kirsty instead. Anyway, nice lady being a english lit student and our convo being mainly about books 'n stuff, I lent her a book with my email addy in it. *Hugs* 'hope to see you around' etc. So, not a massive success, but a pleasant evening all the same. She was getting amusingly drunk and scatterbrained though, I can see why she wore a key round her neck.

On my walk back to Grangetown I ended up escorting a lady to her door who was worried there were ne'er-do-wells stalking her. This made me feel particularily chivelrous.

Anyway, Goatboy and me freaked each other out by finding out that we were in the same places around the country at many times in our lives. We also share a friend. *Spook* Metalangel and me also knew the same people, him through working in the Horse & Groom and me because his entertaining colleagues behind the bar are my mates. *Double spook*

Top tale about train-weirdness there, Metalangel. And no worries about the not spotting me earlier thing.

We now have to bully wondergnome into posting more. And wondergnome, don't forget about that Neil Gaiman comic book 'Miracleman: The Golden Age' in the library!

Nervouspete, due to way the sun is hitting the back of your head, and the way you are supping at your drink, your head looks like a giant willy end. It has the right curve. I'm sure that 'normally' it looks handsome as anything though.

She wasn't underage. In the end we destroyed the lighter in a stamping ritual. She 'looks forward to seeing me again'. Bless!

Fair play though, she had a hell of a body.

Oh, he was - she was proper interested, I shouted over to her about her stockings or something as she was walking past and she looked at me, then looked at Pete, then came and sat down by us. She'd not have looked at Pete if she were intent on sitting and talking to me, plus there was plenty of table and she plonked herself right next to him.

I might be noticeable, but I'm not what you'd call interesting.

Mm, she did seem interested. Unfortunately, as she was quite drunk by the end, and I was still annoyingly sober despite extra beer, and since she was surrounded by sober friends too (except mad falling over beanie bloke), it was not to be. Though she did get my book with email addy and amusing message.

I shall get a photo of Goatboy, by hook or by crook! Failing that, I'll post a photo of my friend who looks a lot like him. A lot. (Don't worry, he's not in Cardiff, Goatboy. He won't be cramping your style.)

Anyway, got mates coming round tonight for a big cook-up. Excellent.

Urgh. That has just reminded me of a horrible little anecdote I read online, about a guy who fancied this skatery goth chick that hung around his local skatepark in Germany, and one day she confided to him that when she was 14, she got pregnant. Not being old enough to get an abortion legally, "I just punched myself in the stomach until it came out." 8)

A big question now is - will there be a BETEO pub quiz team for the Albany?
