I want to carry out a gamertag experiment. I want one person to register a new account with a new tag, with a name I will supply, and the other person to complain about it, then we'll see what happens. Anyone up for it?

If I can sign up for it on the LIVE website then I'm in. If I need my Xbox, then I'm out. :(

No, you'll both need to be on the Xbox and in the same game together, I don't want the complain to look suspicious -- it needs to be from a real game.

Then no, sorry. I can be available from 4, however. I'm sure you'll be sorted by then, though.

This sounds deeply suspicious.

I like it!
Sadly I can't help, as I am at work, and they have yet to allow me to play on my xbox at work. :'(

In fairness, whilst we talked about the article and name-banning on here, it was exclusively within the Call of Duty thread. Perhaps we should split it out for a wider audience?

Is the owt we can do to get you your name back?

Surely if thereismore complaints at the banning than at the name, they'll everse. Threaten to close accounts? Also, did they not teach Americans that GAy ever meant anyhting other than bumsexual, particularly as an adjective to describe a tree-coverd area pleasing to the senses?

Etymology, Uncle Sam, etymology.

/edit sorry for speling rushing towork

No, I was being sarcastic. Obviously my gentle prodding in that thread went unnoticed. Not that you'd have read it anyway, having 'moved on'.

I really really despair at the state of the world when reading those comments. And listening to most people on live.

This reminds me of the time that yahtzee said that the xbox community were a load of hooting dickholes. Seems accurate to me.

You're a self fulfilling prophecy when it comes to whelks, CUS. I think you've got a whelk problem.

I understand they don't have whelks in the US, though, so salvation may be at hand.

I wonder if "ISmokeFags" would be allowed as a Gamertag?

You've made El Reg, Richard!

Did they actually contact you, or did they just copy and paste your comment from elsewhere?

Don't worry, it's not the world, just overprivileged morons sat in front of computers. The world is too busy hating foreign people to care.

Only a forriner would talk like that, though. Are you an immigrant?

Mr Chris eyes AceAceBaby suspiciously over the top of his copy of the Telegraph

I emailed them last night. The Inquirer has just put it up too though -- once you get on three sites it becomes self-propagaing.

I'm still looking for volunteers for skullduggery.

Also, the Digg commenters are being a lot nicer than most of the Kotaku ones.
