The mafia collectively can bump someone off during the night. One of them is usually the Godfather, and that person PMs the narrator telling them who is to be killed, and which of the mafia will carry out the act.

Based on the enthusiasm (of sorts) I'll leave this thread until Friday for signups (I'll post a list of those who've signed up this evening), and aim to start Tuesday or Wednesday next week.

I won't be around on Tuesday if we could possibly leave it until Wednesday. I already have no idea what's going on and I'd probably be in trouble if I tried to catch up a day late.

Err - oops. OK, you're in for Lave, as I assume he won't have finished his thesis by Wednesday. Everyone else, watch this one and we'll see how much of a disaster it turns out to be. If it's OK it should be fairly easy to run another one shortly after.

Pretty much. Here's a summary from mafiascum.net:

Nope. That's it. Everyone finds out who you were but anything else you knew dies with you.

You can still win if your team wins though. You don't have to survive to win.

It's carefully worked out in order to be fair - but to answer your question yes, there are usually somewhere in the region of twice as many townsfolk as mafia.

I thought that said 'waffle tickets' which piqued my interest. I now feel kind of disappointed at what it actually said.

I sponsored my sister £10 today because she was doing a run for a cancer appeal. I then thought she was running 10 miles and then found out is was five miles and was disappointed. I then thought she was running for 5 miles and then found out that she was running 5 kilometers and was disappointed. I then thought that she was running 5 kilometers but then found out that she was walking five kilometers and was disappointed.

I didn't think she deserved £10 by the end of it as for most people that's just walking to the shop and back.

This is why I think 'race for life' is a big load of bollocks.

Firstly, why only women? If there was a men-only event I would fully expect the mental feminists out in force decrying the sexism of it all.

Secondly, most 'racers' in Race for life do in fact fucking walk. 5k is a pretty pathetic distance, and WALKING it is even more feeble. If you want sponsorship for something at least make an effort, but the whole 'race for life' thing is geared towards women walking in groups, chatting for 45 minutes. It's not something I feel compelled to stump up money for.

Meanwhile Mimi, you remain lovely for your super-fab generosity in sponsoring me a tenner for the marathon. For this I will always regard as nice and squishy, like marshmellows. :kiss:
