The only thing I can think of is if the settings are stored per cable, like the 360 one does. So when you change cable, it's changing your settings too.

Do you happen to remember what make/model the HDTV is? There were reports of some HDTVs thinking the amount of white on the menus was a loss of signal and doing funky things, and although I don't imagine that's your problem it could identify something.

It's a Sony KDL40V3000.

That's weird, because at work I set up loads of TVs, and our KDL40V3000U (note the extra U) looks fine. I'll see if I can get a Wii out of the stock cupboard during a quiet moment and replicate your problem with it.

It's good having a whole electrical department to yourself, sometimes!

Well, ok. But only if you're bored or something. I mean don't go to any real effort.

Well apart from the fact I probably will be skiving, bored, yet not doing any real work - I have issues with leaving technological problems unsolved! As my girlfriend will attest to, if I have a problem and I believe it's fixable, I'm on it, thinking about it all the time until I get a solution!

It's no real trouble...I'll say it's a display and have a play on Zelda ;)
