Had a conversation in the office 15 minutes ago and I thought I'd heard someone say 'Alain Ducasse'. They hadn't.

In other, subsequent news, I've just booked me and the wife in at Alain Ducasse for next month.

My mum went last month, said it was very nice indeed. This has meant that she's beating me on posh dinners for the year, however. Luckily tomorrow's The Ledbury.

Did he go for the lunch offer as I recall? That is what I done booked.

Then, 5 minutes later, cancelled and booked under A la carte/tasting menu.

I've not told the wife and don't plan to, other than telling her to have the day off. She is extremely suspicious. And probably reading this.

Fans of Eating Food and Being In London should book themselves a table at Foxlow.

Have the ribs to start.

Interesting. I didn't know Simon Rogan was taking over at Claridge's!

That's my friend Jen (ex-editor of the Wonderful 'The Knitter' magazine)'s cousin, I believe.

He's not, he's opening a new restaurant in Claridges. Which I'm glad of - his style and Claridges typical fare don't marry terribly well.

There's a pizzeria in Lisbon that is always where i want to go when eating out. My wife is getting sick of it.

Besides that, there was a little restaurant in Trastevere, Rome that had this really amazing risotto. Now that i think of it, every restaurant i've been in Rome was excellent and not expensive.

Jen and I got a gift voucher for us both to have the tasting menu at The Kitchin! She was unwrapping the present across the room from me and I saw the writing on the bit of paper and jumped over to her in excitement, I can't wait!

Red, in a squeezy or glass bottle. Sort of a more tangy and viscous vinegar.

Breakfast was pretty good too...

Kate took photos of all the food last night, I'll post them at some point today.

Food wise it was obviously great, but not a huge step up from the one star places I have been to, not sure what I was expecting though :)
The service is incredible however! As an experience it is the best place I have eaten, for sure.

I've been to the Pollen Street Social, which was excellent and similarly has a great and unusual cocktail menu. I had an awesome beetroot one.

I'm really excited about it, it was a gift from Jen's parents for Christmas so we are both going with her sister Ange and her boyfriend. Lovely day for a trip to Edinburgh as well! I'll report back tomorrow. I actually didn't realise Leith was so well served by top restaurants, apparently there are three there with a star and it's only a wee area that used to be a total dive. Poor Glasgow doesn't have any!

That's my normal problem with them, but sometimes they get it spot on & I can pick 3 courses without resigning myself to something.

Goodness me, Fera at Claridges last night. Utterly outstanding. Best tasting and most innovative food I've ever eaten in my life, incredibly cocktails, wine, service. Absolutely flawless, and I've eaten some good food.

That's quite close to me, I've eaten in the pub (forget the name) that's to the left of it (if you were looking at the door of the Fat Duck)

Wasn't impressed with the pub, how much did the Fat Duck cost and how long did you have to wait for the booking??

You are aware I haven't actually been yet? ;)

It's £220 for the tasting menu. If you have a party of 4, there are a few midweek tables available. We only booked last night.
