Got the song title wrong, though. It's Heathen Tribes.

(I can be heard drunkenly shouting about 8 seconds in.)

The new Amon is ten times better than anything Deicide's done since the split. Hoffman redemption.

The last one wasn't bad either. I was as shocked as any, as the last I'd listened to was Digimortal.

It's bad bad bad, isn't it? So much so it went back in time and ruined Demanufacture and Obsolete as well.

Obsolete sounded not right even back then. Demanufacture still reigns supreme in these ears. Archetype was actually good, too. But Trangression was just appalling again.

I was never their biggest fan, but I had forgotten the lows they found with Digimortal :spew:

Obsolete was something I loved initially, when I heard the 'different' songs ('Descend', 'Timelessness', 'Resurrection') and I basked in how it was bassier and more human sounding.

Then, I focused more on the non-different songs, and the fact that the band was supposed to sound cold and inhuman.

Eventually I saw them as a proto-Dillinger Escape Plan: a couple of really good songs that deviate from the norm, massively outnumbered by 'keep the fanbase sweet' them-by-numbers.

Yeah, the crescendo is pretty insane. I'm gonna stick it on once '9 Joint Spiritual Whip' finishes.

Only 17 minutes to go...

This morning, I got an email from amazon and there's a free .mp3 Roadrunner records sampler available to me (and, maybe, you). It is called "Roadrunner Records - Amazon Sampler Part 2" .

Corey Taylor talks about metal and how the media seem to ignore it.

Just won the original Infidel Art digipack on eBay. That's my Sigh discog finished! Well, apart from a couple of highly elusive demo tapes.

Ed: revisiting the album in anticipation of this purchase, it struck me that the orchestra hits at the end of Izuna sound like something from Mario Paint. :p

Her style has really changed since Atomic Kitten.

Couldn't hear the actual song due to being at work but I love the artwork in that video.

As far as I'm aware, yep. If they're playing Nottingham I'm dragging AcheyBreakyHeart to see them.

Hmm. Lamb of God's frontman has been arrested in the Czech Republic in connexion with the death of a fan more than two years ago. Sounds pretty serious.

Putting together a compilation today made me realise that all of my favourite bands' output is from the late 90s/early 00s. That makes me old and not cool. :(

Aye, "He Came With Rats" is acebest spacequest. I generally hate the tendency to sound like something from 20-30 years ago in music (which is completely disavowed in pop/"indie", where everything is presented as brand new regardless), but I'm loving the resurgence of old-school thrash, black metal, DM, etc...

Anything to get rid of the sterile bap-bap-bap br00tal death metal bands. Suffocation and Dying Fetus have a lot to answer for.

Honestly one of the most bizarrely awesome things I've ever seen. http://iprenjakten.se/melodi/?s=294 Dan Swanö and Lord K. Philipson's song for a Swedish pain-killer company.

In a related kinda way I'd forgotten how awesome Fishbone were.

Just playing Truth and Soul now and it's wickedly crucial.

One of the best albums of the 80s...the gig they did in Sheffield on the Truth and Soul tour was just brilliant. There were so many instruments on the Leadmill stage that it seemed there was hardly any room for the band, but do there stuff they did.

I like it there, because they serve Red Stripe. It does get hot, though.

Separate points
1. They serve Red Stripe on tap
2. The venue got very hot

Thoroughly enjoying some pre-Dickinson Maiden tonight.

Killers is such a nostalgia trip for me. Time to hunt out their first LP on vinyl now.

Such a different sound with Di'anno.

Deep Purple have gone ahead of Led Zepplin on my Flared Metal chart. It's a close one though.
