It's bad bad bad, isn't it? So much so it went back in time and ruined Demanufacture and Obsolete as well.

Obsolete sounded not right even back then. Demanufacture still reigns supreme in these ears. Archetype was actually good, too. But Trangression was just appalling again.

I was never their biggest fan, but I had forgotten the lows they found with Digimortal

Obsolete was something I loved initially, when I heard the 'different' songs ('Descend', 'Timelessness', 'Resurrection') and I basked in how it was bassier and more human sounding.

Then, I focused more on the non-different songs, and the fact that the band was supposed to sound cold and inhuman.

Eventually I saw them as a proto-Dillinger Escape Plan: a couple of really good songs that deviate from the norm, massively outnumbered by 'keep the fanbase sweet' them-by-numbers.

Resurrection is my favourite song of theirs, funnily enough.

Yeah, the crescendo is pretty insane. I'm gonna stick it on once '9 Joint Spiritual Whip' finishes.

Aye, "He Came With Rats" is acebest spacequest. I generally hate the tendency to sound like something from 20-30 years ago in music (which is completely disavowed in pop/"indie", where everything is presented as brand new regardless), but I'm loving the resurgence of old-school thrash, black metal, DM, etc...

Anything to get rid of the sterile bap-bap-bap br00tal death metal bands. Suffocation and Dying Fetus have a lot to answer for.

In a related kinda way I'd forgotten how awesome Fishbone were.

Just playing Truth and Soul now and it's wickedly crucial.

One of the best albums of the 80s...the gig they did in Sheffield on the Truth and Soul tour was just brilliant. There were so many instruments on the Leadmill stage that it seemed there was hardly any room for the band, but do there stuff they did.

Faith No More were incredible - like the last 14 years hadn't happened. Mike Patton is a god.
