That's such a good image, Pete. Amazing work  I dug out my Tamron 90mm macro tonight to take some sale photos of a gold brooch for Zeppo. This is one of my favourites of the bunch:  Never really used the macro lens in anger before, but I may be persuaded to if it's this good. |

I've just spent six days in Berlin doing some intensive street photography, mainly with my new X-Pro1. Tons of images, natch, and it's going to take me a little while to process the highlights for the blog. But here's a little taster...

Not that I'm any kind of photographer but I've always wanted to go to this place in Berlin as I think you could get some amazing shots. It's ownership status is in doubt at the moment though and there's stories of very sketchy 'security guards' demanding money for entrance and confiscating cameras with threats of violence and whatnot so I'm not going near it any time soon. |

 More from Berlin. I was up last night working through the first batch. I've hit upon a look I really, really like. It involves shooting JPEGs (yes, really) in Pro-Neg Hi mode and further tinkering with the RGB curves to fade shadows a touch and give a slightly warmer, more filmic feel. This is aided immeasurably by the lovely grain you get from the X-Pro1. Even at ISO 1600 I hate adding noise reduction because the grain looks so filmic! This one was taken with the 18mm f/2, a lens bundled with the X-Pro1. General internet wisdom says that it is a lens unsuited to anything but portraits owing to its lack of sharpness and that it is vastly overshadowed by its more expensive neighbour, the 14mm. Internet wisdom, as ever, is bullshit. F/4 and over equals CRAZY SHARP. |

Good stuff dude, and I totally agree about all the s and u-bahn stations having their own character. During our various travels around the city I couldn't necessarily tell you the name of some of the stations we pass through but I recognise them by sight as soon as I walk in the door of each. It's a shame you never got to see Tacheles while it was still open, it was a mandatory stop every time we were there and always had some weird/interesting stuff to see in it's upper levels. We have a picture on the kitchen wall of the red space rocket thing that used to be in the outside garden which was such a staple of our visits and it makes me sad I'll never see it again. Am I missing something though or have you misspelled it throughout that blog entry? I would've actually properly embedded those images by the way but the forum code won't have it; it throws some error about not being able to work out the image dimensions. |

Actually I think I figured it out but as the images are more than 980 px wide it won't let me. If I remember tonight when I can properly access the DB website I might download them and post them as attachments. |

I finally got a new camera - went for a Nikon D3200 in the end. Pleased with it so far although still getting to grips with it. These are from a trip to Chester zoo yesterday. Not done much post processing on these as my Lightroom has gone squirrely.

Took a few days off last week & went on the road. Anyone that guesses where the pictures were taken wins a free night of wild camping on a Munro of their choosing. Not my camera, but my cousins other half (for those of you at my wedding, he was the guy tearing up the dance floor all night  ) has got one of his pictures as the cover of BBC Wildlife magazine this month, which is pretty cool.
