Hope I don't have any fun and games with this, I deregistered last time round. Fucking hate doing tax returns.

I think I'll have to go to SA, as I'm due a nice rebate from pension stuff this (tax) year. Due since last April, though, and that's how motivated I have been to phone and find out.

Bloody brakes on the car just went whilst going down hill. Yanked on the handbrake in time thankfully, so avoided a head on collision. Then drove very slowly over to the garage and dropped the car off with them to sort out on Monday. Ffs

If it was a very long hill you might have just overheated them and there's not really anything to fix.

I did that to the MX5 bombing down Kirkstone Pass. Made it to the bottom and when I went for the brakes there was nothing.

No, I was applying the brakes full on in order to stop quickly (oncoming car round a corner, narrow lane) and then something went "spang" and then the brakes weren't there any more. I limped up tot he garage using only the handbrake, as the brake pedal now does pretty much nothing.

Christ, that shouldn't happen. The only thing I can think of is that one of the cylinders had a catastrophic failure and you lost fluid pressure.

That happened to me once but luckily I was really close to home and managed to drift slowly onto my drive. Sounds like you were lucky too MrChris!

I've got Morbo back from the vets, but I think he's still having trouble peeing, and if that carries on there's nothing they can do for him

Yep, pretty much. On one hand he's his normal self, purring, eating and fussing, but if he can't go to the toilet properly it's basically fatal. I'm spoiling him rotten at the moment, obviously.

This is in danger of jumping around lots of threads, but he's not doing too badly today. I don't think everything is working perfectly but he is managing to use his litter box.

The report on the inquest for this popped up in my news feed. Never knew he'd tried to overdose a couple of years before this.

It was the front hoses. 100 quid later and I have brakes again

MacGyver climbed out of the car, opened the bonnet, pulled the power steering hose out, put it into the brakes, climbed back in and stopped safely.

But that shouldn't matter - cars have had a twin-split braking system for - Christ - sixty years or so now. The idea is that if one component fails you lose two of the brakes but the other two carry on working (normally it's one front brake and the opposite rear one, for obvious reasons).

Unless you were unlucky enough to lose a brake on both sides at once, that's really, really odd.

I guess modern cars could have stopped doing it that way, but that would also be really, really odd.

They're diagonally split though so LF to RR and RF to LR so if you have two perished front hoses you could burst one half of the system then push through to the other half of the master which now has to brake the whole car all by itself so that bursts too. It's a theory anyway.

Yeah, I guess so. Still seems unlikely though.

When I am getting ill, my teeth hurt some times..

My heart is being more of a dick since I removed the week long heart monitor. It's like it knows!

It did capture some events, but it's now sitting in my pocket and not being analysed by the doctors because I need to post it in a particular box and that box is at home and I never remember it when I'm there because Maria is away and Onóra is being difficult and we now also have mice and it is all a bit much really.

My teeth are annoying me at the moment too. A couple of months ago, I had a sharp pain in my jaw in the middle of the night and since then I've not been able to clench my teeth properly as everything feels out of line. Turned out to be TMD/TMJ and although the jaw pain is finally going away, my teeth don't sit right still, so I might need a dentist's appointment soon. Also, I've never had sensitive teeth in the past, but during the past couple of months, they've all been sensitive, but at different times and different teeth which was odd. The Sensodyne toothpaste seemed to help there a bit though.

It'll all be ok, really. And we're here if you need us.

In relation to the box, I find myself forgetting things like this all the time, however, I know I always check I have my phone before I leave the house, so set a reminder alarm to go off 5 minutes before you leave and you should hopefully then have no reason not to go and grab the box on your way out the door.

After another few weeks of moderate peace (they don't seem to have worked out how to use stairs quietly), it was a couple of hours of banging, stomping and shouting at 4am this morning, although I'm wondering if the original woman is even there as I've not heard her banshee howling for a while and her Facebook status now says she's single. Might have a chat with the other neighbour and see if she wants to put another word in to the landlady.

I've just had a right rollicking from my boss for messing up something... Oh dear.

I just called the Government Legal Department to find out about the progress of a company restoration. There was no answer so I had to leave a message.

I was talking away and then it just said "Press 1 to listen, 2 to re-record" etc so I truncated my message in my head and pressed 2 to go again.

At that point my brain melted and halfway through I said "oh this is fucked up, I am going to have to re-record this shit" and pressed 3 instead of 2 which saved the message and cut me off with no option to re-record.

Awesome - I had left my name and where I was from and then some gibberish followed by "oh this is fucked up". GO ME.

I've cracked my phone screen. What a pain!

Looking on eBay, I think I can get a replacement for about a tenner but do I really want to fix it myself? I'm not sure.

There's a whole screen assembly on there for £90-£100. That would be easier to replace but man, £100! That's a lot.

What's the phone, other than broken?
Some are easier to repair than others.

It's a Lumia 950. It seems that it can be done, but there's not much info out there as far as I can see.
