They're sending you a refurbished one. Standard procedure because it reduces time. You get a returb from the pile, your phone gets repaired, it gets added to the pile, later it goes to someone else.

So no one will know I searched 'How can I get the Tyrian Lannister look?'

FYI: I wiped it before I sent it, natch. You get a booklet which tells you what to do (turn off Find my Phone, erase data etc)

Erm, so Apple have just emailed to tell me they're sending me a replacement phone. I thought that they'd just repair it but they've confirmed a new serial number in their email? New serial number means brand new right? Right? Do they normally just do this? Also, they only acknowledged receipt this morning and I sent it two days ago so assuming I get it back, say, Monday at the latest, they've turned it around reet bloody quickly.

Brand new. Except that they wiped their dicks all over it.

So Ruth got her second op date through, and it's only three weeks time so that's great. However, Ruth had some blood tests back today ... it seems that all the antibiotics and everything else she had (mostly for no good reason, fucking GP insisting it was a UTI for two weeks and putting her on stronger and stronger antibiotics - surgeon was gobsmacked) has utterly fucked her liver, resulting in hepatitis. She's having more tests next week and hopefully her liver will have started recovering... but it's also possible it's going to carry on getting worse which is fairly nightmare scenario... fucks sake.

Thanks all.

Got home and gave Ruth a giant hug. She's being a trooper but massively upset, and what can I really say or do to make it better? Just trying to be there for her. It's particularly shit as she got such good news yesterday on the op date. From googling (I know...) if it is drug induced hepatitis (and it would be a weird coincidence if it were anything else) it's fairly likely it will get better, but there's an appreciable chance of permanent damage and a small chance of death... but the internet doctoring is never a good idea.

ho hum :-/

Do bear in mind that hepatitis just means "liver has the sads" - it's a particularly bad thing to Google because it has no definite meaning, so you'll probably just end up over-worrying yourselves.
I've had drug-induced hepatitis for 20 years, as a case in point - it has hugely varying levels of actual impact. Are they getting her to a specialist for it?

Thanks again everyone.
Cras - it's an ATL score of 297, which was 190 a week ago - the GP used the word "hepatitis" although granted it does indeed just mean inflamed liver" so isn't really helpful.

Sounds like a shit GP who'll happily name bomb a condition without specifically clarifying what it actually means and the range of the spectrum.

We received a letter from Bens oncologist to the GP (we get ccd on all correspondence ) merrily stating they had observed he had a condition (in Latin) that Wikipedia confirmed meant that he had a hole in his heart. After initial wild panic (this was 6pm on a Friday, ideally) a bit of googling confirmed that 25% of kids aged 4 have this type of thing and it's nothing unless you reach puberty with it.

Anyway, anecdotes aside, hope it all fixes well.

A friend of mine had one of these letters the other day and it told him the title of what had been downloaded. It was an episode of True Blood or something crap like that.

Why? There still isn't a subscription offering that provides all desired content.

That's not justification of anything, it's outright thievery - but I'm surprised you'd think the reasons for doing so would have gone away.

Why would you torrent illegally when you can watch streaming sites where it's only the uploader breaking the law?

Also, Ruth's bad liver numbers have halved in five days, so looks like things are going in the right direction. GP also said she'd still be fine for the kidney op in two weeks. Yay!

Depends on your use case. "Some people" want to sync the media to their mobile devices for offline viewing, for example.

Still very true, its also habit for me now, I will download stuff to my NAS that's on Amazon Video :) Which I have a subscription for.

They must be looking to clamp down on this? I know loads of people at work who 12 months ago had never heard of Kodi but now they are all on customized fire sticks and are canceling SKY subscriptions as a result.

Well quite, but Myp was commenting on all piracy, not torrenting specifically.

I tried the streaming stuff on my Kodi a few months ago, bit hit and miss, in the end I rebuilt my hardware and went back to OpenElec and just downloading stuff

Glad to hear your wife is getting better BTW :)
