Wife was supposed to have her eyes lazorred today, but apparently her eyes have changed too much over the last few years, so they wouldn't do it. Come back in a year. Quite why they couldn't have told us this a month ago in the consultation where they said it was all systems go, I have no idea. Really annoying, as she was completely psyched up for having it done.

I've had to drag myself in to the office today, on Christmas Eve, for a mere 4 hours. 4 HOURS! They're letting us go at 1pm. What was the point in that?

Ha! That was exactly what my company was going to do, until an IDIOT in said in the management meeting "People will probably think it isn't worth coming in for that short a time."
So now I'm here until 4pm.

Yes. Dealing with what happens when you realised that approximately 60% of the automation fails is the main issue. Also bloody Exchange.

Her. And yes.
However, it's both of the 'big' bosses, me, and three other people in the office today.
Surely they're going to tell us to fuck off soon.

Yep, there we go. 3 DCs in that country, two in the primary site and one in the DR site. Two of those are the primary and secondary bridgeheads to Exchange - guess which two?

Post subject:  Re: The "Nay!" Thread

Last Tuesday I went to the doctor's with a dry, hacking cough I'd had for a couple of weeks and get every so often. They started to chase a diagnosis of asthma. I did peak flow readings, but they were all super high, suggesting no asthma; plus Ventolin didn't help at all. Over the weekend, I started getting breathless with a 100+ bpm heart when doing anything physical at all - even walking up stairs. I'm also fatigued and achey all the time and I still have the cough.

At a doctor's appointment today, she was a hair's breadth away from sending me to hospital for observation for the breathlessness and high heart rate I am suffering from, following an ECG (which was clear) and Pulseox test she didn't like the look of. As it was, I got a strong dose of antibiotics in case it's a bacterial infection, and I have to go back for more tests tomorrow. If I disappear, I'm in hospital. Next most likely diagnosis is a viral infection; then obscure-ish variants of pneumonia etc, and some way out on the probability curve after that is a blood clot on the lung. I'm statistically at a very low risk of that, but I'm a bit alert to the possibility because of recent events.

So, umm, yeah.

Thanks for the well-wishes folks. Whilst wearing a pulseox meter, a two-minute walk around the car part at a moderate pace had my blood-oxygen level down to 88% and my heart going at 163bpm. I'm feeling no better today; the GP took blood for a number of tests and I've had a chest x-ray to compare with one I had in 2008, specifically to look for the possibility of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. I'm still not dead, though, Grim..., so you can put the Boxee down and back away slowly.

Crikey. Rather hope it's not quite so serious as that.

As an aside, I once had an episode with a resting heartrate of 180 (lying in bed!). It's really quite terrifying.

But the good news is that you can give up all that cross country running and hours of hateful exercise, as all you need to get fit is about 4 minutes of really hard exercise three or four times per week (Q.V. last night's One Show).
