To be fair to the AA then, the price I paid was the same amount on that page.

If they charged him £0800 316 4314 then I think he's got a point after all.

I think you should have your toes sectioned.

Or try again with the beating them to death with rocks.

My flat doesn't have a casino in it, the water is falling from the sky instead of being in a swimming pool, it's twenty degrees colder than it should be, and Starbucks is a fifteen minute walk away. Harrumph.

Just had two remote desktop sessions open. One to a test machine and the other to our front end SharePoint server. I accidentally installed Xampp on the SharePoint box and then when it wouldn't work because ports were in use went into the services manager and started shutting things down. Then I rebooted it (or thought I had, I did it through the command line) it didn't come back up for some reason, so had to call back office in shame and get them to start it up all the while ditching about ten calls a minute from unhappy users

It's back now and all seems fine, learned a lesson there, though. Still, not as bad as when a colleague was configuring endpoint encryption for all our laptops. He thought he had selected in a list only the three machines he was testing it on but he had actually selected all the laptops in the organisation except for those, literally hundreds of them. He hit start and it instantly started encrypting every laptop on the network. Someone had to visit every single user to get them access to their own machines. :DD

I once needed to restart the network card on a live web server, so I stopped it and then typed the command to start it again, but Putty had frozen. A few seconds later, Putty disconnected. A few seconds after that I facepalmed and rang up the nice man at the datacenter and asked him to go and press the "reset" button for me.

I'm sure we had a thread about these sorts of things.

I had to change IPs on a headless server once. I wrote a script to change a few things and bounce sshd, then sat at the prompt for several minutes, about to press enter to run the script, but thinking "balls, if this doesn't work this is going to suck."

It worked though.

within the last month I've had:
- a miscarriage (also the end of our hope for a second child)
- miscarriage going extreme so trip to A&E
- a bacterial infection in my leg (and two fingers)
- 30/30 days of penicillin for that
- embarrassing and extremely annoying consequence of 30 days AB
- asthma gone mental because of being ill
- 2/10 days of prednisone for that (had to wait for bacterial infection to go away)
- throat infection
- 30 days of cold and snot

I'm sick of being sick, I'm exhausted and I have no idea why I'm at work

If I ever need to run really dangerous MySQL queries on the live server (which I have to do more often than I'd like) I tend to wait for an exciting bit in the song I'm listening to before pressing enter.

I'm very sorry about your Jelly Beans Grim...
I got Steve a 50 variety's selection box of Jelly Beans for fathers day and he's marking the lid to show which ones he's tasted
I'm sure he would also be devastated is they fell on the floor :(

Thanks very much all :luv:

Miki, you have always been so kind and thoughtful in your replies and sentiments to everyone that I am sure that my words will not match what you would say if the roles were reversed, but you have my most sincere and sorrowful thoughts for what you have and are going through.

I do not know why you are at work, either, but if you have elided that you are strong enough physically and mentally to be back and have now changed your mind or realised differently then please make this known before it damages your health further. Returning to work to early can slow your recovery to a great degree, so if you have realised you have not given yourself enough time, please see a doctor.

Many caring thoughts are with you xxx

I lost my beautiful prince, my Rottweiler Charlie today.
I know it's not much compared to what people like poor Miki have gone through, yet still I am devastated.

Rest now my beautiful, faithful, brave, magnificent boy; wait for me at Rainbow Bridge. I will never forget or stop loving you. :luv: :'(
