Cavey, it's no small thing to lose a beloved pet, especially if they've been with you for years.

Ultimately, if we judge ourselves on a moral relativistic scale of how bad things are then only one person in the world can ever be sad at a time. Bad things happen and they suck; there's no shame in being upset about a bad thing.

Sorry to hear that mate, we lost our first cat when she was on kitten. She was booked in to have the first jabs that would allow her to go outside, she was fine at 6am, by 9.30am in the vets she was ill and never made it home. I was gutted as it was such a shock and happened so quickly. Spent £200 on blood tests and other stuff and never really found out what the issue was.

We waited a while then took her sister who has turned out to be a fantastic little cat

Colleague I've known for the past 11 years was killed in an accident today. He was only in his mid forties.

I've been in Wales for the last three days, my brother in law, or I should say ex brother in law died suddenly on Monday afternoon. I've known Michael for about 37 years and even though he and my sister divorced many years ago, he's always felt more like a brother and we've remained close for most of my life — I'd known him since I was 8 years old. I spoke with him for over an hour on Sunday night and he was bright and cheerful — I knew he was in bad shape, caused by very heavy drinking in the last year, but he was practically on the wagon, about to start counselling and had even just bought a stupidly expensive mountain bike to get back into shape. Less than 24 hours later I got a call from my sister saying that James, my nephew had found him dead on the sofa when he got in from work. He was 51.

I'm absolutely hollowed out.

I've heard of the whole Rainbow Bridge thing before and have thought it mawkish nonsense, but reading Cavey's recent posts about his beloved dog have had me genuinely welling up, to the point it's taken me a while to even be able to come to this thread and say: I'm sorry for your loss man and my thoughts are with you. Sorry its taken me so long to be able to express that.

It's a weird day at work, to say the least!
I'm doing an interview in head office this lunchtime, at the same time as there is a lunch going on for people who want to come in and chat about it to other people, that's going to be an interesting situation for the candidate to deal with...

The guy was a very prominent figure in the company, so it affects everyone. Some of us more than others due to how long he had worked here.

I'm really sorry to hear of this Trooper and DBS, that's truly awful in both cases, I have no idea what to say except I'm truly sorry to hear it guys. Just no age at all, in either case.

Certainly puts my troubles into some perspective, as horrible as they are. Very sobering.

My wife had a car accident on the M4 tonight

Thankfully you can't go anything other than slow at the time of day she was on it, so she is more shocked than anything

A bloke drove into her and the back of the car is bit of a mess

Was her first day back at work after 13 months off with the baby as well

Was amazed how quickly you get sorted out once its been established its not your fault, hire car and repair collection before 12 tomorrow

Hire car arrives today and tow truck Monday,

Also had small result, I had scraped the bumper a few times reversing out of the drive. Always wanted to sort it out, but just figured it would be £500 so never got around to it

Now it will be replaced due to the impact, so car will come back looking a bit better

Well I'm in the dog house

We have a Gazebo up in the garden at the moment, behind that is the washing line. My wife put 2 loads out to dry.

Then my automatic watering kicked in and the sprinkler comes on. The Gazebo blocks the view of the line from the house

So an hour later she goes out to check her washing and found it had benefited from an hour of watering :DD

The opening Viber message went " I could f**king kill you" !

She has calmed down a bit now, I've left her alone to watch rubbish on the TV like One Born Every Minute

My son goes to a really good child minder on a Tuesday and Friday and my sister in law has him Wednesday and Thursday

For the third Friday in a row he has just gone mental the minute my wife drops him off. Each time she has to go and get him and now the minder is saying she can't have him as she has never had a kid like this is 25 years.

I don't understand what the problem is, he behaves ok when he is there on a Tuesday and he is such a good kid, always happy, sleeps well seldom cries longer that a bit of moaning etc.

Find her attitude a bit shit to be honest, she appears to expect that all the kids sit there all day and read a paper :DD

Problem we have is that we need her more that she needs us

Can just do without it on top of everything else I have going on at work

EDIT great she won't take him anymore, 1 year old and expelled!

Is there another child there that attends on a Friday but that isn't there on a Tuesday that your boy has perhaps had a bad experience with? If so, is he perhaps seeing that other child and freaking out?

There is a mix of kids there, my wife said he won't settle and is upset even if the minder holds him, also he didn't like the other kids coming near him but I figured that was part of the general upset.

I guess maybe he understands that if he goes mental long enough mum comes for him, as this has gone for 3 Fridays then I suppose its a sort of (bad) routine.

He always was OK when there on a Tuesday, but that was his first day after 3 days with us (my wide doesn't work on a Monday)

My wife said when she went to get him he was really upset and pointing at the door, so he is not going back, even if the child minder would have him there is no way I will have him in a place that's upsetting him this much.

Its very out of character he has only got this upset when he was younger and in pain with trapped wind etc

So looking at a Nanny long term to care for him at home, also a good chance my wife will be leaving work soon so maybe she will stay at home, we loose a salary but I don't care about that in the mid term as his happiness is the most important thing.

Sellers of the house that I'm buying (and days away from completing on in theory, once a query with my mortgage lender is resolved) are threatening to withdraw from the transaction if it's not sorted by the end of today.
