Jesus. Why waste someone's time like that - filling up the numbers?

I was great too. I bought myself chips after the last interview and told myself that. It was quite empowering scoffing chips on a bench in a park.

Bugger, looks like I really have inherited the London job. The guy I'm covering has been off a week and half, apparently sick, but today the boss called me and told me that they've had almost no contact with the guy - he hasn't been phoning in and they've not been able to contact him for the most part. All he said was that he knows he's not sick and was meant to go to our main office for a meeting today but never showed up. This afternoon, all our admin and server passwords got changed and I notice this guy's email account has been suspended.

Oh well, more money for me I guess, though the longer hours are going to make it a massive ballache to see my daughter on weeknights.

:DD

My background is infrastructure

Started off putting kit on desks around the Millennium. Then joined EDS/HP around 14 years ago, did time on the Job Centre projects, working out what was needed for Head Offices, Job points etc. Designed Server rooms and office layout. Worked in various Private and public projects.

Worked on the (redacted) project, where I worked up to to being an Infrastructure Architect, mainly problem solving (stop laughing) IT issues on unique environments.

Moved to the Rolls-Royce account in October, where I am look at designing and integration of the IT at factories, assembly plants, test beds and research facilities.

We want someone with a Microsoft MCSA (or MCSE) and experience with Exchange and SQL. A mix of desktop and user support for when they break shit, plus server admin tasks and fixing the big stuff when it breaks. Plenty of nice to haves such as a CCNA, experience with SolarWinds or other network monitoring, a passing familiarity with ISO27001 and so on.

It's in Redditch in the west mids, and you can use BEEX at work.

For a week or so now, I've been chatting online to a gal who looks a lot like Angelina Jolie in Gone in 60 Seconds. Things were going great, talking of meeting up etc. when I asked her to add me on Facebook so we could chat there, whereupon she's now stopped talking to me as I'm too nerdy and skinny.

D'oh.

Hope this gym work pays off soon! ;)

Was meant to be on a miniature holiday today with Zardoz and some other friends but instead I was up all night, went to the emergency dentists and then came home to literally writhe around in agony for a bit. Actually the worst physical pain that I've ever experienced. Seems to have settled down now though.

It was a tooth that I'd had root filled before but they'd apparently made a bit of a bosch of it and left some nerve in so the emergency dentist had to pull out all the old root filling and then put a temporary filling over the top.

Tell you what though, emergency dentists don't fuck about compared to regular ones. Or at least this one doesn't. None of your namby pamby bedside manner like asking if you're alright or if it hurts or anything. :DD

Oh man, that sounds hideous... Commiserations

Never had the pleasure of an emergency dentist, but when I bust my foot the other week I had to wait 4 hours plus in A&E, and when I was seen the two (male) nurses discussed what a weird surname I apparently have among themselves for a good couple of minutes, with me a foot away the other side of a curtain... So professional.

I've not been sleeping at all well recently, even by my standards.

Last Monday I gave up at about 4am and didn't bother, same on Wednesday. On Sunday night I fell asleep at about 3:30am, and had to be up at 5:30 :(

Normally it's because something's bothering me, but I can't think what it could be. I've been working really long hours recently (7am to 10pm ish), but I don't think that's it

I've been through all that stuff with my "sleep doctor". In the end we both agreed that I was broken in the head and he assigned me some letters.

I am Mat Squirrel, DSPD.

[edit]Aaaand it all falls down at Tip #1 :) I'd be going to bed at 4ish if I tried that.
