Oh, and BTW, the map seems to have freaked out with the compass change and left in a lot of stuff from Pre-Rotation. It might be a bit confusing for a while.

The Ominous Shadow is the Truth and Reconciliation from Halo (it's a Covenant CCS Cruiser, complete with working 'glassing' beam).

The 'BIG DIG' is the undersea rail tunnel which will allow tourists to visit yet another disappointingly empty NPC village, Shady Sands.

I reckon the villages are empty due to them being generated prior to the 1.0.0 update. Hopefully any new ones will be teeming with life.

The one we found is, yes. We need to figure out a way to make the old ones teem. I'm sure there must be some kind of spawning thing that causes the bignosed people to appear.

I'll consult my sources Google.

Dimrill feared it might mean deleting that entire chunk of ground, with the side effect that it's not likely to have a village on it when we enter it again.

Oh well. Short of nuking those chunks (well done whoever went wandering and spawned them early >:( ) we can wait and see if there is a way uncovered by the community. I mean, all that must happen is an extra something is included when the things are generated under 1.9 that wasn't around in 1.8, and it must be possible to place it, right?

Sorry to get all funny but the NPCs were the one thing I was looking forward to most, as the world feels very empty with just our stationary pumpkin people. Being able to fill the city with NPCs wandering around would be excellent.

I'd be willing to nuke the outlying areas if people were happy to do that (and I found out how to do it :) )

The pictures are good, those bridges are impressive! I still don't understand what MineCraft actually is but I like the stuff you're building.

Searching for ruins, Dimrill found another village far to the south east... filled with NPC villagers! This is very odd, as Blarg Harbh is still uninhabited, and I'm fairly certain that the northerly one won't be either. The new village is mostly built into the sea, so the villagers all wade around tending to their prefab fields (which are several blocks above sea level).

I've seen this mentioned a few times, So i decided to set it right.
Any villages spawned BEFORE 1.0.0 (Before villigers were added) When the server is started, NO villigers will spawn, as it is a 1.8.1 chunk, which does not support NPC's. Whereas, Villages spawned since the server UPDATED to 1.0.0 WILL have villagers, as those chunks support the addition of them. If you revert the world to 1.8.1 the villagers will despawn, and if put to 1.0.0 again, the villagers (i think) will stay gone.

With love,
Cookie197.

/giveme 325 for a minecart

You'll notice (in my stations at least) there's a ramp in each station next to a button.

With the minecart in your hand, right click on the ramp where the track is dark red. The cart should be placed on an angle, and should stay in place. Walk against it to nudge it if it's not in the right spot.

Now, right click on the cart to get in. Then, right click the button (on the platform) to launch. The system is designed to take you to the next station.

At the next station, hit the button again to keep going. If you want to get out, look down at the cart and right click to get out, then left click it rapidly to "break" it and put it back in your inventory.

Fanny. There's clear instructions at the spawn room rail station to Crasterland and Barad-dim, along with a chest full of minecarts.

Just a friendly reminder:
-don't leave minecarts on the tracks, bash them and take them with you.
-don't leave stuff running like redstone-powered mechanisms or minecarts, this causes lag.
-don't interfere with other people's projects without their permission. Look and explore but don't add or remove anything!

I've adjusted almost all the station signs on the railway for the new compass headings. I also went and looked at Zoralina's magic shop (near Hidden Lake)

Do you mean me, Metal Angel? I don't know if leaving redstone torches next to my powered tracks is a bad thing to do. Is it?

As an aside, I'm a bit disappointed that the Yogscast charity fundraiser thing is going towards Oxfam. All very worth and all that, but the £30,000 they've raised so far is a drop in the ocean to such a massive charity. They could have used that mass popularity power to fund a struggling local charity, like a hospice, who would have appreciated the unexpected injection of funds about a billion times more. I think the charity picked is random, and unimaginative. That is all.

I was referring more to finding my huge bridge with track laid on it (thanks, but a lot of that will be torn up with it gets electrified as when I build railways the tracks actually come last!) but also that when I went down your little line there was still that pig trapped in his cart bouncing back and forth.

Redstone stuff like your powered tracks are fine... after all, all my railways are powered by energy sent all the way from the power station. It's things HAPPENING continuously that need to be calculated that cause lag. Setting a minecart to run constantly on a perpetual circuit, for example. There's also ways to set up a mechanism to play music using the music boxes or to cause pistons to pump up and down, and these will also cause lag if left running, though you can of course build them and remember to switch them off.

Because you're new to the game you couldn't have known this yet so don't worry, it's just something to keep in mind when playing online.

(it's also worth noting that using the time controls used to make stuff 'stick'... some redstone circuits would remain energized but the power wouldn't flow as it should, don't know if this is still an issue)

Wasn't me!

But also lol at the thought of little piggy still going back and forth on my track days later. Poor piggy.

Might have been Zoralina, as she was investigating Shady Sands while I was building the bridge to it. She always is either silent or disconnects immediately.

I have questions Mr Paz:

1) What do the red splodges on the dynamic map signify?
2) When you create your works of art, like the nifty giant megamen and stuff, how do you do that? Is there some kind of utility that takes a static image and attempts to break it up into the appropriate minecraft block layout?
3) Why doesn't god mode work? Never works for me.

Pretty much :this:

I used some 3D rendering tool to get the scorpion to pixel-block resolution, but in all honesty that was a damned sight more effort than just doing it by hand so I've never bothered since.

Red Stuff. Could be lava, could be a mega mushroom, could be something red. Flip to the isometric view and zoom in.

 I mainly just build square stuff.

PSB does the sprites I think, I think it would just be a matter of getting the sprite really zoomed in and alt-tabbing between it and the game as you build.

I don't think you need to eat in God mode as it stops you taking the damage from hunger, though when you log in and aren't Godded yet you might.

There used to be a good single player map trimmer. The guy hasn't updated it since mid-alpha though.

Could whoever is building the railway tracks to the north west beyond my trans-portal rail link please finish it off with powered rails. I'd like to ride it but it's annoying that I can't :)
